Wait...why would he instruct the IRS to do anything since he plans on abolishing it right away?

That's the ONE point that I'd agree with him on. The IRS needs to clarify (and actually crack down on) those who flaunt the rules regarding Non-Profits (e.g. churches) and their interference in American politics.

Do you really think that would be enough to stop them? They way most religions organizations work, they might have to pay property taxes (which the IRS has nothing to do with), but they would almost certainly never show a profit on which to pay taxes, and that's even if one applied the most scrupulous accounting practices one could.
But there would be literally no legal barrier to them being as deeply involved and partisan as they want to be.

From an LGBT rights perspective, a President Cruz would be much more dangerous than a President Trump.
Trump is a know-nothing buffoon who will kiss the ass of the highest bidder. He's manipulable.
Cruz is a hardcore theofascist devil. A true menace.

Possibly, except that up until very recently, Cruz was the most hated pinhead in Washington. The GOP is only lining up behind him because of Trump. Although wouldn't it be amazing if the most detested politician in America and Washington wound up being President because of Trump.
Hillary or Bernie. I don't care which one. They're both decent human beings, and the GOP has so lowered the bar that decency is all that I require.

Protect the rights of chaplains or religious people to do WHAT, exactly? That's the rub.
This whole issue isn't about anti-discrimination laws or marriage definitions or public access statues. It's about where religious practice ends and other people's civil and human rights begin. The anastomosis between the two has been blurry for as long as anyone can recall, and it's high time that we as a country made it clear that religious liberty means being able to worship (or not worship) any way you choose in your own heart and home. It does not mean that other people have to be saddled with your religion, or sacrifice their own civil liberties to accommodate the public expression of your chosen religion.

Amen (ahem)... And thanks for teaching me a new word: "anastomosis" (a cross-connection between adjacent channels or parts of a network). I'm not quite sure it's the most appropriate word here (I would have said "boundary", although I see how you could make a case for a "network" of the expression of civil rights among people in a society).

LOL... I use that word at work when discussing the point at which the two parts of a reconstructed airway are surgically connected. Must have slipped out. The meaning was the point at which two separate parts meet and are joined together. Yes indeed, that is a five dollar word. Double word score.

I think if Perkins had his way, there would be no beginning for other people's civil and human rights. I'm talking overturning Lawrence v. Texas and Obergefell v. Hodges, enforcement of sodomy laws, mandatory SOCE, life in prison for those refusing SOCE, and capital punishment for repeat offenders of sodomy laws.
The man creeps me out more than Cruz.

The council, made up of prominent religious leaders, recommended 15 action items that will protect Americans from discrimination by the federal government on the basis of their view of marriage and also protect employers threatened by the HHS contraception mandate.
Unless those Americans are women or LGBT.

Oh, yes, religious liberty will be better under a Cruz theocracy. For those that follow his particular mythology. But, no thanks, people have complete and total religious freedom now. They can worship however they like without fear of going to prison. What you can't do is use your mythology to discriminate against others.
It's an easy concept to understand provided you have an IQ higher than that of an artichoke.

What I want to know is how many dead babies are buried in the field behind Tony Perkins house? And Tony, what about that mixed race hooker you strangled in a Motel 6 in Tennessee in the 80's? And your step brother who murdered a black man in Cleveland in '76? Oh and shoplifting ammunition at a gun range in 1991, really Tony? Not to mention the fact you've never denied being the Zodiac Killer. I can't wait for the dead skeletons in your closet to come out and haunt you.

In other words impose a Christian version of Sharia law on all the people of the country. Against homosexuality or birth control and you are an employer? Refuse to allow health care plans to cover birth control, medications to prevent HIV infections or to treat hose who are HIV positive. Allow schools to force children to sit through Christian religious rituals at school. Make sure bigots can discriminate against "ungodly" behavior which noting to do with the ability or performance of work duties. So a woman living with her boyfriend and not married - fire them. A man living with his boyfriend? Fire him! Ahmed in shipping is a Muslim? Out he goes!

You better believe it. If the American Christianista could have it their own way, it would be a solid, Christian version of Islamic Sharia Law. You would see our Constitution literally disappear overnight. There would be religious litmus tests for all political offices and appointments. Voters would likely have to affirm their fealty to Christianity and God before being allowed to vote. Our whole way of life would change for the worse. Actually, gay people would likely be so condemned and restricted in daily life, it would be one short step away from just eliminating us completely and that's already been proposed by how many loving Christian mouthpieces and right-wing fanatic pols.

– Direct the IRS to review all of its current guidance regarding
religious organizations and issue clarifying guidance to the extent to
which religious organization and religious leaders are able to engage in
speech regarding political issues and candidates;
Just the mere mention of this puts my blood on boil. Boiled over boil. It makes me want to jump clean out of my skin and start swinging at any and every fucking dickhead who thinks giving these religious assholes carte blanche is the right thing to do. They may think backing their evil nasty foul warlord will get them power and authority - but Ted Cruz isn't about to give anybody anything greater than what he can give himself. I believe that's been IRS policy if not the law since about 1954. Religious groups can take policy positions all they want, but if they endorse partisan candidates, they lose their tax-exempt status. Unfortunately, they've been cowed into not enforcing this policy in recent years.

It is not "religious liberty" when your candidate has made it clear how he intends to oppress and limit the freedoms of Muslims. It is not "religious liberty" when you openly discuss how you intend to enshrine your particular religious beliefs in law.
What you have sir is a set of plans for a theocracy with a follow up of enforced conversions.

Tony Perkins Unveils Some Of Ted Cruz’s “Religious Liberty” Plan To Roll Back Federal LGBT Rights
March 24, 2016 2016 Election, Duggar, Hate Groups
And of course the news comes via Todd Starnes.
“I am absolutely convinced in my discussions with the senator that religious liberty will be a lot better off in America with a Cruz administration,” said Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council and Chair of Cruz’s Religious Liberty Advisory Council.
The council released exclusively to me its initial recommendations for both legislative and executive actions that will restore the nation’s First Freedom – the freedom of religion.
“Unfortunately, this freedom has been systematically undermined and even assaulted under the policies of the current administration and previous Congresses,” Perkins said.
The council, made up of prominent religious leaders, recommended 15 action items that will protect Americans from discrimination by the federal government on the basis of their view of marriage and also protect employers threatened by the HHS contraception mandate.
– Rescind Executive Order 13672 – an order that requires certain federal contractors to not discriminate on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity;
– Direct all federal agencies to stop interpreting “sex” to include “sexual orientation” and/or “gender identity.”
– Direct the Department of Health and Human Services to eliminate its requirement that all employers include coverage for all FDA-approved contraceptive methods and sterilization procedures;
– Direct the IRS to review all of its current guidance regarding religious organizations and issue clarifying guidance to the extent to which religious organization and religious leaders are able to engage in speech regarding political issues and candidates;
– Review and clarify existing Department of Education guidance on prayer at school to ensure it adequately explains the rights of students, teachers and other employees to live out their faith.
The council also urged Cruz to protect the religious liberty of military personnel – especially the rights of chaplains.
And that’s only about half of recommended items.

This is the one American ( and universal) issue that resonates most powerful with this Canuck. I am so glad JMG keeps highlighting the wonderful efforts of the Ali Forney organisation and the work of Carl Sciciliano.
We should all continue to support their work on a regular ongoing basis.

TRAILER: A Road To Home
March 24, 2016 documentaries, LGBT News
From the Ali Forney Center:
Youth homelessness is one of the most severe disparities faced by the LGBT community. While comprising only about 5% of the overall youth population, LGBT youth make up 40% of the nation’s homeless youth population. The response to this crisis has been meager. While there are an estimated 500,000 homeless youths in the country, 200,000 of whom are LGBT, there are only approximately 4,000 youth shelter beds in the country, with only about 450 of those beds dedicated to LGBT youth, who often face violence and harassment in mainstream shelters.
A Road To Home gives voice to young people caught in the grips of this crisis. It tells the stories of youths who have been driven from their homes by homophobia and transphobia, showing their journeys as they fight to overcome their harsh circumstances, and seek to make sense of what has happened to them. The film also portrays the struggles of the Ali Forney Center, the nation’s largest organization dedicated to homeless LGBT youths, to advocate and care for these youths in a climate where the need so greatly outweighs the available resources.
A Road To Home will debut at film festivals beginning next month.roadsked

Excellent.
More good news this week, we need a large dosage after yesterday...
Isle of Man's marriage and anti-discrimination in services bills are making their way through the Upper House :) Two more readings left for the marriage bill, expect summer weddings. Looks like Faroe Islands moved to the front of the line ;)
Soon every Mexican state will have at least one successful marriage lawsuit, the Supreme Court is even mulling some kind of compensation for future cases. Making the state pay the plaintiffs caused one state's (Chihuahua) Governor to issue an executive order and I expect at least one more state to do that step very soon (Morelos).
Austria had a second marriage hearing lately and the judge seemed sympathetic (unlike last time) so if he sends it to the Constitutional Court expect them to say Yes. Wouldn't make sense if they didn't, last time they said marriage was for family blah blah but now that they gave complete adoption and in-vitro rights to gay couples the argument falls flat on its face.

There was never a good reason to pathologize homosexuality or transgender and/or intersex status...no one is harmed and it's possible to be happy as any of the above. The JONAHs of the world shouldn't teach gay kids that they can never find happiness without brainwashing, and/or that society is somehow harmed by any consensual love that doesn't produce children
But why hasn't the DSM-5 classified "excessive bigotry", "chauvinism", "chronic thuggery" and/or an "excessive desire to control a child's sex life long after they leave home" as "sickness"? Why haven't blinding hate and/or crazy control issues ever been pathologized?? Those kids who were taught that being gay is a sickness eventually learned to hate themselves....which is at the root of most psychopathology.

To answer your second paragraph, because you don't have to be mentally ill to be a piece of shit.
Hatred of gays is a social illness, not a psychological one (or, perhaps more accurately, it's a sympton of the social illness of religion).

They constantly pick their own narratives to support their bigotry. For example, they assert:
= All violence against LGBT people is committed by other LGBT people.
= Matthew Shepard was gay-on-gay violence and a drug deal gone wrong, and not an anti-gay hate crime (despite the fact that the murderers pleaded the "gay panic" defence).
= The delisting of homosexuality from the DSM (the official psychological / psychiatric handbook) was only due to political pressure, and the studies cited to motivate the delisting (Hooker and Kinsey) suffered from methodological errors (whereas Regnerus, of course, did not).
= Gay people are more prone to suicide, self harm, and drug abuse because we know that our "lifestyle choice" is wrong.
= Since no "gay gene" has been identified, homosexuality must be a choice. (Which no gay person or medical professional anywhere believes.)
= Gay people recruit young children into the lifestyle and we are all pedophiles (when the reality is that it's mostly men that are pedophiles, but almost all of them identify as heterosexual and have adult heterosexual relationships as well).
= Gay people are incapable of monogamy as our relationships are lust-based and not love-based, and thus we do not deserve marriage as we are simply out to destroy it.
And the list goes on and on.

Interesting that the LGBT population is estimated at 4.5% of the general population. As much as the anti-LGBT folk like to say we don't deserve rights because we're "only" such a tiny percentage of the population it is good to be able to throw that tiny percentage back in their hateful little faces with a round number: 14,463,000.
That's more people than live in any one of the states with the exception of California, Texas, Florida, or New York.
That's more people than live in Illinois.
That's more people than the combined populations of all of New England (MA, CT, ME, NH, RI, VT).
It's also more people than the combined populations of the 13 least populated states (WV, ID, HI, NH, ME, RI, MT, DE, SD, ND, AK, VT, WY) plus the territories of US Virgin Islands, and American Samoa.
So, I guess any resident of these tiny jurisdictions should be ok with not having rights wholesale.

This is crazy! What about religious freedom? Why shouldn't the sanctimonious and the self-righteous among us be allowed to choose the sexual orientation of their own children? Also, put them through emotional hell if need be to change it? It's all done in the name of Jesus and for the glory of God. What better reason is there?

World’s Largest Psychiatric Association Calls For End To Ex-Gay Torture And Legalization Of Homosexuality
March 24, 2016 Civil Rights, LGBT News
From the National Center for Lesbian Rights:
Today, the world’s largest organization of mental health professionals—representing more than 200,000 people in 118 countries—called for an end to the discredited practice of “conversion therapy,” which is linked to serious harms, including depression, substance abuse, and suicide.
In a statement issued today, the World Psychiatric Association (WPA) says: “WPA believes strongly in evidence-based treatment. There is no sound scientific evidence that innate sexual orientation can be changed. Furthermore, so-called treatments of homosexuality can create a setting in which prejudice and discrimination flourish, and they can be potentially harmful. The provision of any intervention purporting to “treat” something that is not a disorder is wholly unethical… Psychiatrists have a social responsibility to advocate for a reduction in social inequalities for all individuals, including inequalities related to gender identity and sexual orientation.”
But wait, there’s more:
The World Psychiatric Association (WPA) has this week released its strongest position statement on LGBTI rights to date, calling for the universal decriminalization of sex between people of the same gender. The WPA represents more than 200,000 psychiatrists from 118 countries and its membership includes 138 national psychiatric societies around the world.
The WPA says it was prompted to issue a statement on the issue due to recent controversies around homosexuality in many countries around the world. ‘WPA considers sexual orientation to be innate and determined by biological, psychological, developmental, and social factors,’ the group said in a statement.
The WPA statement says that diversity in sexual orientation had now been studied extensively for over 50 years and it was now known that around 4 percent of the people in any society experience meaningful same-sex attraction, while around one-in-two-hundred identify with a gender other than the one they were assigned at birth.
The WPA also says that LGBTI people are known to experience higher rates of psychiatric disorders the wider community but that their mental health improves in environments where they have equal rights.

Yes this is horrible. But it's also a direct and foreseeable result of Democratic-leaning residents of North Carolina not bothering to vote back in 2010 and 2014.

Harley: Most of those roadblocks weren't in place back in 2010.
And now that they are in place, it's still no excuse to refrain from voting. Make sure all of your like-minded friends have the necessary voter ID, plus a ride to the polling place on election day.

Hypothetical:
Say you lived in a city that got local protections, so you came out at work because your job was secure...
You are sufficient to excellent at your job...
Then in the not so distant future the state legislature decides to do away with local protections, and you boss fires you for being gay...
Is there any legal recourse?
Edit: Isn't that a similar scenario to Prop 8, ie Californians had a right to same sex marriage, and then lost it...

It's more or less identical in consequence to Amendment 2 in Colorado, that went to the Supreme Courts as Romer v. Evans.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/...
SCOTUS shot that down, stating that such a provision lacked "a rational relationship to legitimate state interests". It's hard to see with that precedent that this law doesn't similarly lack a rational relationship to legitimate state interests. The only effect is discriminating against their own citizens.

What? Bank of America, which was a big, well-run California-based bank until crappy NationsBank bought them and since then has fucked it up? Don't forget that in 1998, the new NationsBank overlords in Charlotte directed the highers-up in CA to stop sending staff with noticeable "San Francisco accents". Code for "those icky gays".
North Carolina was Crackerville USA before and is Crackerville still. We won't get help from the local businesspeople.
I think it's time to start an international campaign to make these Hate States own their bigotry, with a travel directory listing those states (and countries, let's be comprehensive) in which LGBTQE visitors lose (any or all) civil rights upon entry. Oh, and maybe also list the states in which lax gun laws put visitors' safety at risk. Make the places undesirable. Well, MORE undesirable.

Your point about BofA is well taken. I remember a great institution and sadly saw NC degrade it.
My original point was economic boycotts by national businesses organizations have been an effective tool in Indiana, Arkansas, Louisiana, and Arizona against blunting new anti-gay laws sponsored by religious bigots. A national boycott of Georgia is being threatened because of an odious RFRA their legislature just passed and is awaiting Gov. Neal's signature or veto.
Isn't time is time to make an example out of North Carolina?
BTW - I was also one of the original 18,000 couples married in Cali, but have recently moved back to the New Orleans area since Obergefell v. Hodges to take care of family.

My hat's off to you to willingly move back to the South. I could ONLY move us to the French Quarter. Or maybe Key West or Ft. Lauderdale or South Beach. Only places where I can drink enough to forget about the right-wing assholes running things. Ugh.

It's as if they hadn't thought that far ahead. But, of course, the real goal, the practical result, will be that transpersons will simply not be able to travel or work unless they take ridiculous measures, measures I don't even wish to discuss much less would wish on a person. Further, the ultimate goal is simply to make life itself unbearable for transgendered persons -- murder by suicide.
The actual bill and the laws are one thing, but knowing that your fellow human beings are capable of this level of depravity is quite another. I am very glad it is not up to me to eternally judge in like measure the people who give this their favor, because I believe that act would consume my own humanity.

The question that's never answered and that I never understand: If someone is transgendered, haven't they by definition BECOME the opposite gender? Or at least are well on the way to becoming that physically to be integrated with their emotional and personal identity? Objection to this reality is cruel and oppressive. It is not a man in a woman's bathroom; it is a woman in a woman's bathroom.
Given that there are no recorded instances of someone posing as the opposite sex to enter bathrooms, why is this an issue?
And then I have to ask, what do these people who oppose transgendered people get out of doing that. It truly confuses, saddens (and infuriates) me.
I know this isn't particularly original, but my mind boggles at the waste of time and money and my heart breaks for the people (of any age) for whom government-sanctioned torment is even considered a possibility.

These jeebus lickers are fools.

LIVE AUDIO: North Carolina Legislature Holds Special Session On Repealing Charlotte’s LGBT Rights Law
March 23, 2016 LGBT News
LISTEN HERE RIGHT NOW. From Charlotte’s ABC affiliate:
Republican General Assembly leaders began a one-day special session Wednesday morning after enough lawmakers requested to reconvene now instead of waiting until late April. They’re responding to worries from constituents and conservative activists about provisions related to transgender people and restrooms. The session began with a House committee meeting, which WXII’s Bill O’Neil reported was packed.
The proposed legislation is expected to go beyond pre-empting Charlotte’s ordinance by stopping other towns, cities and counties from passing their own nondiscrimination rules based on sexual orientation and gender identity. Gay-rights groups say the repeal effort is wrong and would deny gays and lesbians, bisexual and transgender people essential protections at public accommodations like hotels and restaurants. Any legislation would go to Gov. Pat McCrory’s desk.

after talking to gay friends from Stavely, and bergs NORTH of Edmonton, and the burbs of Calgary, I must say, I am impressed. I wish we had such laws. I am a big "love Canada" kind of guy, visit whenever I can, and love the place. but, I wont lie, Alberta is my least favorite province in some ways. That said, on its worst days, its better than most American states on our best days.

No, it hasn't. Quite the contrary, science has shown that the male brain and female brain are quite different. The gay male brain being more similar to the female, and the lesbian being more similar to the male. Of course all in varying degrees.

This hateful Bitch desperately spreads her Jeebus version of poisoned

Far more kids of every identity will be driven out of her fake religion
however,... her loathsome dumb-ass "XIAN WITNESS" will drive thousands
out of the pews ... what a major turn-off this nauseating excuse for a
"mother" is, and a total embarrassment to our inclusive and respectful
Canadian values. Little wannabe Nazi/Christer, and so "persecuted"
ain't she? Lets roll our eyes in unison on this one.
But hey! ... free (hate) speech, no? Yet too dumb to disable likes and comments. LOL ....
May she metaphorically burn in her cruel Hell-fire and all of her three
kids turn against her or come out as gay or transgender or whatever are her
worst nightmares. (But may they be happy however their own lives unfold.)
Her not so much, in her pointless and stupidly cruel hatred.

I think she should have just spoken her objections, in paragraph form. The message gets lost in this attempt at art/cleverness, and it opens her to ridicule on the side issues of her performance and abilities.
Who knows, the young are demonstrating how much more resilient they are, than we fuddy duddys, on issues of sex and gender. Maybe they won't have any problem accepting transgender students in their appropriate toilets.
My, now hazy, recollection of high school is that those who stand out get beaten up, especially including girly boys and manly girls, and bathrooms are a popular venue for that. Maybe the real answer is to replace communal toilets with a bunch of separate bathrooms built for one.

Doesn't matter how she does it. The policy is in place and isn't up for debate.
Quote: The new government guidelines say policies and regulations must “explicitly” protect lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, two-spirit, queer, questioning and/or gender-diverse students, teachers and family members. The document says all students have the right to be addressed by their chosen name and with pronouns that match their gender identity.
School dress codes should be revisited to ensure they don’t imply skirts can be worn only by females. Gender-segregated activities, including sports teams, should ensure students who are gender-diverse have the right to participate in activities congruent with their gender identity. Students should also be able to choose which washroom to use.

I thought that I would respond in a rap (that is not lyrical or rhymed) so as not to embarrass this woman:
This Christian Mom

Inside a locked bathroom
No one can see
The genitals you use
to go pee pee.
It is really like just like
at your house
mom goes pee
and then her spouse
daughter flushes
all is clean
No one can guess
which gender has been
1500 species are same sex*******
Now, that- can’t be found in your biblical text
What can be found is love one another
Every child born
is your sister and brother

Well, at least this woman can continue with her life completely unburdened by any speck of talent or decency.
And hey, for those who don't want to be mean to this obviously sincere and earnest lady, please remember what she's trying to do here: (1) She wants to make the lives of trans kids harder by making fun of them herself, which is the tactic of a would-be bully. (2) She wanted her video to go viral, only it's not done so in quite the way she anticipated.
She's a totally fair target for ridicule and derision.

And then I have to ask, what do these people who oppose transgendered people get out of it. It truly confuses (and infurates) me.

It's an issue because it works in scaring people. What they want to do to trans people is unspeakably cruel, so instead they pretend trans people don't exist, and it's only straight men trying to rape little girls - because they sure as fuck know THOSE exist.

Here's the policy for one Catholic school board (Grande Prairie, AB) that was accepted by the provincial government. IIRC school boards must have policies submitted by March 31st. It looks to me that the government caved in this school district.
"This section says school principals must allow students to form
Gay-Straight Alliances if they wish. But student clubs still have to
follow the LIFE Framework, a guideline developed by the Council of
Catholic School Superintendents of Alberta. Catholic facilitators must
lead the clubs and use the Christian definition of chastity "as a basis
for advising students."
Schools will use students' birth certificates to determine their
gender, although the policy also suggests that students will be allowed
to dress in opposite-sex clothing. However, any request for
accommodation - whether it's about clothing or bathroom use - must come
from parents.
As for washrooms, the procedure says schools will provide private
washrooms to "any student who desires increased privacy," but it doesn't
specify what happens when a student identifying as the opposite sex
wishes to use opposite-sex bathrooms.
However, [School District Superintendent] Germann says that won't be allowed; if a student asks to use the opposite-sex change room or bathroom, this will initiate an "accommodation process," and the accommodation offered would be to use
the private family washroom, he said."

Uh, huh. So a really uncool mother is concerned about a loosening of the bathroom access rules. She doesn't have a degree in gender studies & doesn't immediately embrace the latest claims of trans activists, so that makes her a terrible person. Let's laugh at her. Meanwhile, let's have no coverage of a trans activist who assaulted a police horse.

Christian Mom Posts Anti-Trans Rap Song [VIDEO]
March 23, 2016 Crackpots, LGBT News
Via Raw Story:
An aspiring rap artist weighed in recently on bathrooms for transgender students in Alberta schools. The song, entitled “Gender Bender” is by MH Weibe, who describes herself as a “concerned mom.” In January, Alberta schools adopted legislation requiring bathroom facilities to accommodate transgender people by allowing them to use the bathroom according to the gender they identify as, Global News reports. Weibe raps that she doesn’t think the issue should be legislated but instead focus should be placed on preventing cuts in classrooms, and also that she thinks being transgender is unnatural. “This is just a fender bender, all over sex and gender,” she sings in the chorus. “Can we pick another issue, than to change our bathrooms for a few.”

I don't know if anyone is watching Samantha Bee's new TBS program, Full Frontal, but she's doing an excellent job at taking her former boss' place (Jon Stewart). One of her first shows had a great moment where an interview with Cruz's wife is shown and Mrs. Cruz's facial expression is priceless when she's asked about her reaction to how his peers and others feel about Ted: http://newsbusters.org/blogs/n... It shows up within the first 60 seconds or so, and here's how it's set up:
Bee pointed out how he’s not received “an Iowa bump” and speculated that it has to do with the argument that Cruz is severely disliked by critics. Using clips of CNN’s Dana Bash telling Cruz’s wife Heidi that her husband has been described as “not likeable” and “insufferable,” Bee joked that Bash was really trying to tell Mrs. Cruz that her “husband has stage four cancer of the personality.”
The trashing of Cruz only continued as Bee admitted that she “dislike[s] Ted Cruz as much as the next everyone, but that's no reason to be rude to Ted's loving wife and possible hostage.”
Bringing fellow GOP presidential candidate Marco Rubio into the fray, Bee bashed both of them for “exploit[ing]” their young children as photo-ops with Rubio’s son asking him for water at a New Hampshire town hall with Cruz’s daughter Catherine resisting a kiss from her Dad as he held her outside his campaign bus:
Oh, look at that. Marco Rubio has finally found a way to look like the big boy in the room. Hey, you know what? Ted Cruz has somehow managed to reproduce. Maybe he can use his child to make him seem more personable....Maybe she just needs to get to know him. Could anything be more awkward? Turns out, yes. (If you watch the video clip, there's a stunning moment where Cruz is trying to kiss his daughter for the photo op and she literally recoils from him).

This should be huge news: "The Nixon campaign in 1968, and the Nixon White House after that, had two enemies: the antiwar left and black people. You understand what I'm saying," Ehrlichman continued. "We knew we couldn't make it illegal to be either against the war or black, but by getting the public to associate the hippies with marijuana and blacks with heroin, and then criminalizing both heavily, we could disrupt those communities. We could arrest their leaders, raid their homes, break up their meetings, and vilify them night after night on the evening news. Did we know we were lying about the drugs? Of course we did,"
Thousands of black men are permanently barred from voting because of drug arrests. It could possibly have flipped Florida in 2000. It has destroyed thousands of families.
The right wing creates scandals out of thin air - Whitewater, IRS, Benghazi, ad nauseum. They never get held accountable for their crimes.

The problem with Trump is that his ego is so goddamned big that he cannot even fathom anyone challenging him. Much as i dislike him, I think the attacks on his wife are uncalled for (though there is a little bit of "This is how it feels, deal with it.") but he is playing right into their hands. All he needed to do was be a gentleman about his wife and just add "I'll let that move speak about the source rather than about my wife." and that would be it.
If i dislike Trump, nothing gives me more pleasure than seeing him deny Cruz the candidacy, cause Cruz is the worst of the bunch.

Wait...who is slut shaming Trump's wife? The woman posed nude for titillating photos. Is that bad? No, not in and of itself. However, the qualities we look for in a first lady are ones of stability and public service. She occupies a bully pulpit of her own and her image needs to be one people can trust. Melania's photos show a different lifestyle and value set than those expected of a first lady and it isn't "slut shaming" to point out that her judgement in posing for those photos is suspect.

Absolutely. This isn't some private pictures that got leaked, and it's not some teenage indiscretion that she's made it a point to put behind her. It was a paid photoshoot for a national magazine, and she's hardly a serious diplomat's wife now.
Donald needs to learn that "lying" means saying things that are not true, not saying things that Donald doesn't like.

"That was fast. Our partners at ABC News and other news organizations are projecting the Democratic side of the Arizona primary as well. No clue, but with a 60/37 split so far, it's fair to divide the delegates at about the same rate (that'll get bollixed if districts strongly lean one way or the other).
As of now, IF (huge if) Clinton splits UT and ID, she gains about 20 delegates for the night, and she's already performing far ahead of her projection in AZ. http://projects.fivethirtyeigh...
She only required 34 delegates to Sanders' 41 to meet her target and not lose ground. She's going to get more like 45 (so far, with the cities still out).

Actually...yes, more than usual. I think he sees the handwriting on the wall. AZ was a must-win state, and, well, this is a Clinton landslide large enough to wash out his probable wins in ID and UT together.
Again, the poor guy can't win for losing. He'll probably take 2 of 3, lose on optics, net votes, and delegates, and we've now burned another 3 states and 130 delegates behind us.

Meh. That's called campaign incompetence. The rules were set long ago, and the campaign didn't establish the ground game to change Independents to Democrats for the Primary.
We hear this bullshit every cycle in Pennsylvania (also a closed Primary). If you can't get off your ass and join the party, we don't want to see your ass at the polls in the Primary. You are NOT a member of the party, you do NOT get to vote for the candidate.

Preach it, my PA friend!
Personally, I'd love to join a host of different parties but also know that, frankly, my main goal is to stop the Republican candidate. Hence, yes, I'm a registered Democrat that has a voice in who the Democrat candidate is. Membership n some cases has its privileges-- like, oh, deciding the standard bearer for that same party.
Plus Brian Sims.

I'm inclined to think all primaries should be closed. Bernie drew a lot of votes from the Tea Things down here, which is just all kinds of fucked up. Why in the hell are we giving them a voice in who our party nominates? It doesn't make any sense at all.

Hillary just beat her target in AZ with 40 delegates. If she takes no further delegates in AZ (she should get several more) or any other state this evening (she will), she now needs 41.2% in all future elections after tonight, on average--Sanders is now up to requiring 58.8%.

I don't want to upset BeccaM, but the race is over. Done for. 2008 wasn't that close, 2016, so far, is a trouncing.
Nobody's going to spend much for polling when the conclusion is already known.
Bernie dominates Saturday's caucuses, then perhaps Wisconsin, and the next one. After that, Clinton is back in the limelight with New York, which will wash out all the leads Bernie got in the previous seven caucuses and then some.

Don't worry about it, Treant. I've been reconciling myself to the probable outcome since Super Tuesday. I'm saddened my guy doesn't look like he really has a chance, but I'm not enraged or pulling my hair out or anything like that. I am SO not a #BernieorBust type either.
The way I've seen it, it was a very good thing for Clinton to be challenged and for her to stake out positions rather further to the left than she seemed initially to go for. Both of them made the other a stronger candidate and their campaigns helped show the rest of America what it's like when two not-insane, not radical lunatic candidates run for President. The contrast could not be more stark.

True dat, Becca! Actually, that's kind of how I felt in 2008--I was an Obama supporter, but felt guilty for abandoning Clinton (neither had appreciable foreign policy or administrative experience at that point, so they both scored about the same for me). When push came to shove, I voted for Obama in the Primary...but didn't really care if Clinton won. She would have been a perfectly fine candidate, and miles ahead of McCain (who wasn't nearly as crazy as the fools on the R side this year).
Still.

There is a bit of a double standard here; If 61 year old Carly Fiorina had been in line to snag the repug nomination would her being married to a cosmetic surgery survivor in his 30s who packs out his pants with tissue be considered an asset to her candidature? But here in the real world patriarchy, forbid that someone say that that "Trophy Wife" Melania might not be adept in the role of FLOTUS.
In the Interview with Barbara Walters she says, as she has a right to say, that she does not chose to participate in "the" Donald's political life, because raising her son is more important to her - A very laudable sentiment but not one consistant with her her possible future role (FLOTUS is a full time job in itself).

When you say 'quintessential conservative republican' you clearly mean someone who's declared bankruptcy four time to date meaning that other people have to pick up his debts and has 'family' values so firmly entrenched that he wants at least four marriages - to date - to find out what kind of family he wants.
Oh, and I'm not a Ted CXruz supporter. While I love many Canadians, I still think there's something essentially hinky about a Cuban-Canadian running for the presidency of the USA.

Trump Threatens To “Spill The Beans” On Cruz’s Wife
March 22, 2016 2016 Election, Infighting Is Funny
The New York Times explains what Trump is raging about THIS time:
In what could be a last-ditch effort to derail Donald Trump’s march to the Republican presidential nomination, a super PAC has released an ad targeted at voters in Utah that slut-shames the frontrunner’s wife, Melania Trump. The ad is specifically designed to persuade Mormons in Utah to not vote for Trump in the state’s caucus on what has been dubbed Western Tuesday. But, in one of its ads, instead of attacking The Donald directly, Make America Awesome, the super PAC founded by Republican strategist Liz Mair, takes a shot at Melania, showing an old photo of her posing naked with the text “Meet Melania Trump. Your Next First Lady” printed across the top of the image. At the bottom of the photo, in which Melania wears only sparkling jewelry and throws a provocative look at the camera, more text appears that reads, “Or, Your Could Support Ted Cruz On Tuesday.”
So now we learn that not only does Trump not understand that videotape RECORDS the things he denies having said, he also doesn’t understand that super PACs, by law, operate independent of a candidate’s campaign. And it’s not like this photo of Melania has been a secret.

Seriously, have you ever thought of diversifying the topics on which you comment? This non-stop, obsessive paranoia that trans people simply asking for inclusion under open public accommodation laws equating to some sort of surreptitious stealth campaign aimed at destroying the civil rights of gay men and women, has gotten really old.

This is the wine and Tramadol speaking. But...
I have really fucking had it with these ignorant, bigoted, knuckle-dragging, bronze age mythology believing stupid, motherfucking assholes!!!!!!
Please, just once, come out from behind your book of lies, hate, and fables and just admit outright that you are a bigoted piece of shit that believes in your heart of heart that life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness only applies to white, heterosexual, Christian, males. Stop with the platitudes and mincing of words. Just come out and fucking say it! Say what you truly hold to be a truth in your heart because that's what this is all about.
Me, I'm tired of your fucking shit. Go to your BuyBull invented Hell and get a huge pineapple shoved up your ass everyday.

Its sheer breadth is so discontinuous with the reasons offered for it that the amendment seems inexplicable by anything but animus toward the class that it affects; it lacks a rational relationship to legitimate state interests. ....[Amendment 2] is at once too narrow and too broad. It identifies persons by a single trait and then denies them protection across the board. The resulting disqualification of a class of persons from the right to seek specific protection from the law is unprecedented in our jurisprudence.

One day, I saw a long line of women at a gas station waiting. I said, "Hey, do you know that the men's room is empty. You could just use that." My mother was waiting in line, and I figured that they could just use the restroom since, well, they just need to pee. A woman wearing a cat sweater looked at me with disgust and shut the bathroom door. Apparently holding it was more important than relief.

I've used men's restrooms more than a few times for exactly that reason. Other than the urinals, it's the same and often nearly empty. I have yet to see a guy do anything other than look a little uncomfortable. "There's a long line next door and I'm desperate" has never drawn more than an understanding nod and a friendly gesture to the nearest empty stall.
I have also seen men in women's restrooms, but it's always been because men's restrooms almost never have diaper changing tables. Nothing cuter than watching a brand new dad trying to master the task.

Things should be left up to local governments..., unless the local governments don't do what we want, then leave it up to the state legislatures..., unless they don't do what we want..., then leave it up to Congress..., unless the don't do what we want...., then modify the Constitution.

This is another reminder why people need to get off their asses and vote. The NC Democratic party wasn't pro-gay by any stretch (IIRC some Dems actually voted with the Repubs to put Amendment One on the ballot), but the leadership didn't actively go after the progressive pockets of the state. Now we have a veto-proof majority of knuckledraggers and our districts are gerrymandered to hell.
I hope NC's business community (particularly the tech industry) puts the screws to the fuckheads in the state legislature, but given how backwards they are I'm not even sure it'll matter. *sigh*

When the Democrats were in control, they did not put forward a marriage admendment. Only when the Rs took over did Amendment 1 get passed. For 100 years Ds were in control. Rs won in the year that also gave them the power to make the congressional districts in the state. So we're kind of f-cked for the next few years.

Maybe I'm just angry, in pain, and a little buzzed, but these RWNJs all think they are the only ones that actually know how to fight. They have this idea that only ultra-right-wing, usually neo-nazi, whack jobs know how to fight and liberals and socialists are weak, sheep that will crumble in the face of an adversary.
I'm to the left of Karl Marx. I'm currently sleeping with 3 combat veterans who are very liberal. After I survived physically brutal Domestic Violence I learned how to use firearms, edged weapons, asps, tasers, kubotans, and jiu jitsu to defend myself. If I'm looking particularity butch one day while using the ladies room in a "Hate State" (My new word) like North Carolina and someone gives me shit I'll be happy to defend myself. Even better, if a trans woman is in the ladies room I will put myself between her and the simple minded haters.
I've really had it with this shit. With this hate. With this ignorance. With this institutionalized and legalized bigotry.
OK. On a fun note. I love that someone put Funker Vogt's musik to the "Sucker Punch" movie.. You don't need a penis to fight.

So true.
Biologically speaking, I never understood Patriarchy or last names. The only way to truly know your genetic make-up and your family history is from your mother, and her mother, and her mother, etc. All your genes, your mitochondrial DNA, who you are as a person, comes from the female line. Males are just X or Y donors.
Edit: I always believed that biologically, then I saw my niece. She looks exactly like me. I look exactly like Mom. Mom looks exactly like Grandma, etc.

It's about property and property rights. Many don't remember or know that up through the 1800s, women were often legally considered dependents of their husbands or 'responsible male blood relative.' In many U.S. states, women were banned from owning property; when women could, usually upon marrying, that property would immediately be considered to belong to the new husband.
For example, in 1821, Maine passed what it felt was a progressive law: A woman was allowed to manage property or a business in her own name if her husband was incapacitated.
(More info: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/... )
Earlier than that, Biblical marriage was absolutely a business transaction, hence why there's a Commandment ordering men (and only men) not to covet (envy, desire) or steal other men's property in a list that includes farm animals, servants and wives.
Hence the practice of women taking some portion of their husband's social identity -- because on our own, we owned nothing and our names had no particular use or value.
I honestly do believe much of the patriarchism we continue to see in western cultures is because at a subconscious level, there's still this "women are property" subtext. (Up to and including whether women get to decide how and when to have children.)

Actually, that attitude lasted well into the 1980s, When I got married, my wife owned a car, for which I did not pay. Since we were legally residents of NH, I had the legal right to sell that car and pocket the money, since married women in NH could not own anything. I think I was also entitled to her paycheque, but I never pushed it.

Shit like this really makes me despair on so many levels and it saddens me. That there should be such an orchestrated effort on the part of a government to take away and violate the human rights of its citizens in a first world country based on fear, ignorance and religious dogma. When I read about these things I thank my blessings that I'm Canadian - and no, that is not a holier-than-thou stance because we have had struggles but we have also certainly benefited from many of the groundbreaking movements and work done by our American brothers and sisters to gain equal rights and I'm so thankful for that. We still have occasional outbursts from Catholic school boards or evangelicals, school trustees or even politicians, but the are swiftly isolated for the most part because LGBT rights and same sex marriage, despite all the claims of harm, hasn't made an iota of difference. If anything, it has made us a happier, more stable society and I would give anything to see that happen in the US. I hope there is some hope in generational renewal because at least here, for the most part the newer generations don't really give a shit or see it as an issue. And to keep it in context, we both have Black Lives Matter protests, unequal pay for equal work, domestic violence and a host of problems that we still both struggle with. But at the end of the day, doesn't everyone deserve dignity, safety and respect? Apparently not according to the Republicans.

in truth, the rethugs have a short list of anti-issues around which they can campaign. and that list means less and less, to more and more voters who are alive, every day. but they can't help it.
everyone alive after Loving vs VA. remembers this crap. it's real law, but pissy pants cunfedruts are going to stamp their little white feet a lot, before they let this go. i agree with the previous poster: more than any other time, *this* is when your money counts at Lambda, NCLR, etc. the real 'good guys/gals.'
this is the 'swat down the flies' phase, but it's still important. there are many more court cases to go. buck it up, and open your wallet. we're not done yet. that includes you, Married People.

Thank you for this list. I just moved to NC and work for one of those companies on this list (Food Lion). They tout on their careers page under Diversity and Inclusion that they were selected by HRC as one of the best places to work (click on Diverse Workforce on the page I linked). Wonder what they have to say about this? Having just started my job with Food Lion I don't want to rock the boat too much BUT....

Saying a company values diversity and the actions of a company can be very different. Look at the buyer for Cabela's about 1 year ago who was offered a job to move to their home state and when he, his partner and their kid or 2 kids did, the corporate office froze him out, did not talk to him and then fired him. He was told by several that it was because he was gay. And yet, their corporate website, internal and external brag about how diverse they are and how much they value diversity.
Anyone is wise to watch and wait, unless it is at a place well known for protecting us.

O/T: Herr Drumpf threatens Ted Cruz's wife on Twitter.
http://www.thedailybeast.com/c...
Donald Trump threatened to "spill the beans" on Ted Cruz's wife in a tweet he quickly deleted and reposted Tuesday night. Trump was apparently referring to Facebook ads from an anti-Trump super PAC mocking Melania Trump's nude appearance in a GQ magazine spread years ago. "Lyin' Ted Cruz just used a picture of Melania from a G.Q. shoot in his ad. Be careful, Lyin' Ted, or I will spill the beans on your wife!" he wrote.
For the record, Melania Trump did pose nude and in various states of undress and/or extremely racy attire.

How often do you hear of a pedophile who is transgender? I certainly know which I would be worried about in a public restroom.

He doesn't have to claim anything. The job situation is better than under our last governor. That's the tragedy. The state withholds funds from everything from cities to roads under GOP control, screams 'surplus', and all is good. Plus you have to remember that Detroit and Flint are GM towns with predominately non-whites that have voted dem. Those two facts alone make a large portion of the state blame them for the loss of half their populations and starved revenues from local taxation and the aforementioned state revenue cuts.

I realize loyalty oaths are a bit out of favor at the moment, but still, it might be worth a shot: a pro-LGBT declaration that folks sign when you do business with them where they promise to support nondiscrimination policies. Would you want to do business with someone who wouldn't sign a little note promising not to be a bigoted jerk?

I live in Charlotte, Nc. I'm trying to stop it. I've thrown about 3M$ (I make far more. 75%-85% more than I do now if oil were at 60$ or more a barrel) into trying to stop it..but if both houses are majority republican rule-no money will.
If it passes, I'll sue the state...ill take it to a fed circuit court and then scotus to try to get it banned as unconstitutional. My life/money. Long story. SHORT VERSION: Let's say I grew up poor due to an issue with my father that wasn't fixed until my teens. Even back then he was not rich. When he died, I made 15,000$ year in 1999 off his oil and nat. Gas income With all the new wells, more pockets discovered, hurricane Katrina, Middle East issues, and another relative died, doubling my income, it shot to 10M$/month from 2006-2015. Now it's less than 1M. 75% price loss plus 50% rig shut down. Ironically I'm a Green Party member lol. But I'd have been stupid to refuse this and I donate a LOT for the environment
I've not been politically active. But I am getting to be quite fast. And if it takes $ to win, then I'll use what I have.
I've already written the governor, and the key ppl behind this letting them know that they can not outspend me on this issue. I'm sure they pulled my state taxes and see I'm not bluffing.
But I'm not above calling for a tourism, business, economic, and other bans on Nc. Cities, counties should b able to enact their own civil rights laws.
And many ppl don't know, Charlotte (and partly Raleigh/Durham) are THE BANKING HUB OF THE ENTIRE USA..,with the exception of Citibank and a few minor banks, but citifinancial is here ...home loans, mortgages, personal loans, etc. if the banks threaten to pick another state...over 20-30K jobs would b lost statewide. It would DEVISTATE Charlotte and NC.
So they key thing is to pressure the banking industry to pressure the governor to veto it. And I have some clout in that arena. Threatening to move my funds to a bank that's non Nc based would turn some heads, and id encourage others to do so.

Easy solution: instead of trying to get bathroom bills...introduce bills making it easier for a transgender (usually hormones but not fully srs) and transsexuals (those who've had full srs surgery), to legally change their name AND "sex" On id
I'm not trans but I know many who are. So far they don't object to my logic. They actually object to the new bathroom bills causing more difficulty in their lives. Plus I know a bit about hormones as my body when into sudden andropause 4 yrs ago. My head hair grew back..my leg, arm, chest, and body hair was thinning and falling out. My sex drive was shot and muscle mass was dropping like crazy. I was 40, 6'5" 250lbs, Built, furry, etc. Then the hormones just reduced by 95% in a few months. What T I was making got converted to Estrogen in my body fat...I started entering gynomastia. So I was put on Estrogen blockers and a fertility drug that was supposed to have kicked my hormones back in. But I also had BPH. Taking T would make it worse. I was finally put on 2ml injections once a week and put on triple the dose of Avodart to stop dht. It's been working. But dht is 5xs stronger than T and is a mans sex drive hormones. Since my T levels are now 4X higher than the avg man, the T alone restored my drive. Eventually I'll need a chunk of my prostate cut out as its making it hard to pee and it's pushed 50% into my descending colon. Let's just say I have to b on a high fibber diet and take stuff to cause extra water to move into my gi tract.
My point is hormones are NOT easy, and I'm taking them to keep me as I was meant to be. I can't imagine it for a TS/TG. It'd b much more of a rough ride. More so for MTF, and there's a reason for that. We all basically form asexual BUT it leans to the female side. Some players on here disagree with me but I can link scientific proof to this. It's quite natural to b female. To be male, you need a Y chromosome AND it must cause testosterone to start at a certain pint...failure of this can result in a hermaphroditism or the child being born "female". Without T, key male parts and organs never develop. Hence why it's easier to go FTM VS MTF. FTM is more of a natural progression of what happens in the womb. Mtf is completely trying to reverse everything baby do u think it's so hard to spot a FTM, but often quite easy to spot mtf , even will full srs...(unless the male had a slim and feminine features to start with. I've seen some that are flawless)
If This is done, bathroom bills are probably not needed. In time they may b needed to say a person must use the bathroom of the sex on Their id. So is a TG or TS got a legal sex id change, they couldn't b blocked. That'd go over FAR easier with politicians and citizens.
The only issue I have is ppl want access to the bathrooms VERY early into the transition, or even before process. That I don't agree with as that would make most ppl a bit freaked. FTM is rarely an issue because FTM adapt very quickly to hormone treatments and very quickly look male. Unfortunately, with MTF, even with hormones and full SRS, it's often easy to tell. Hence why this issue centers around MTF and rarely FTM. Plus most straight men don't care if a woman comes in. It's the men, or. Mtf, who are poloticians try to say will take advantage. Unfortunately, that's already happened.
A compromise is to provide an EASY path for legal name and id sex change
I've seen many tans ppl say "my genitalia" does matter. I disagree. If you are born into the wrong body, it SHOULD MATTER. and by most legal means, only once that is changed is someone considered transgender but transsexual.
I realize what I'm saying will not be popular. But I'm being realistic. Had the lgbt community dropped the bathroom issue. The bill would have passed.
MY SUGGESTION / OPINION: secure equal right for lgbt ppl FIRST...Housimg, workplace , etc etc...THEN target either the bathroom issue (which I believe is the wrong path) or target making it easy for a TG or TS, once they have progressed to a certain point, to easily get a name and id sex change. Once your id is changed, you can't b denied bathroom access...or it would b hard to
What I do not agree with is someone simple identifying as trans and expecting to use the other bathroom. That's like asking for something when you haven't bothered to even do some of the work yourself
As far as teens...access to faculty bathrooms AND or every school must have one gender neutral bathroom. Allowing trans teens who have not undergone hormone or srs surgery access to the opposite bathroom just invites the cruelty of you into further teasing them or committing violence. Plus teens aren't supposed to transition. Pre or post puberty is ok..during - increases the chance of cancer by massive amounts as changes have started and must be stopped.
My ultimate point is lbg, and T ppl who happened to end up lgb, won the right to marry (straight trans have much less of an issue), and now we are pushing to hard, to fast, and there's back lash. I'm not saying we stop...nor am I saying we stop fighting bogus religious protection / anti-lgbt bills...what I'm saying is pause. Enjoy the victory, but still keep fighting for equal rights...BUT Let the county get accustomed. 3-5 yrs or so, then push harder.
ID RATHER we push hard and fast, but we can all see the results, the nut jobs are waking up and causing problems. Done slower, the stay more dormant until it's too late. But I'm afraid they are woken and won't sleep again unless they are defeating by a dem pres, dem tilted soctus, and dem tilted senate ..house would b nice , but that'll take much longer.
One way to end this is get 35 states to amend the constitution..bypass congress completely. Amend it to include lgbt rights..then even a scotus with 9 scalias would have their hands tied. The far right knows they lack support to do this. In the next 10-20 yrs, there should b enough support for US+ALLIES to amend the us constitution. I'd also re amend the 1st amendment too as its TOO vague and the far right uses it to think it gives them any and all protections. It sound be rewritten to say exactly what u are protected from..both govt and citizens, and make it CLEAR the govt can't adopt or even make decisions based on one religion..in this case Judo-Christian only. They think it applies to them only. It's all religions, even pastafarians

Whatever other considerations might be involved, and I'm sure that there are many, making it easier to get one's gender changed on one's government-issued ID would go a long way toward shooting down the idiotic "just decide one day to say you're a woman and go hang out in the ladies' room" bullshit that is so often used for cover in anti-trans bigotry.

The original version of the bill was narrow enough that it might survive a Romer-based challenge. This new one doesn't sound like it can. If passed, this will end up at SCOTUS.
(Not that I think even the original version was acceptable, or even legal. Just that I think it might not have activated the Romer precedent directly.)

Early in my own transition I was denied use of the women's restroom at a gay bar in a city north of Seattle. I had changed the name on my Dr.Lic. but had not had the gender marker corrected yet. After paying the gal our cover charge my wife and I headed for the restroom and I was denied because of the M still on my lic. My wife was livid but I just had the gal stamp my hand, hopped in the car drove to a bar a few blocks away, used the facilities and had a drink. Same night a dreamy hunk FTM friend same experience. My therapist fast tracked a letter to DOL and had the marker corrected by our next visit.

Here in New Mexico, we commonly warn visitors, "The city just about shuts down after 9pm."

Seriously, most towns and cities in Utah have a curfew of 10:30 to keep "the youth of Zion" off of the streets. Although SLC doesn't have a curfew, your chances of being pulled over after 12:00 midnight are substantially greater than any other time of day. They just don't want folks out at night necking in the parks, at the boat harbors up in the canyons or at home under the sheets.

NORTH CAROLINA: Special Session Bill Would Ban ALL LGBT Rights In State, Not Just In Charlotte
March 22, 2016 LGBT News, Religion
North Carolina’s GOP has decided to go FULL Kentucky, according to an advance copy of tomorrow’s bill. The Associated Press reports:
The North Carolina General Assembly is returning for an expected one-day session Wednesday to block implementation of Charlotte’s new “bathroom ordinance” before it takes effect April 1. But the final legislation is expected to do more than eliminate the right of transgender people in Charlotte to use the restroom aligned with their gender identity.
Draft legislation obtained by The Associated Press would appear to pre-empt completely what Charlotte added to its non-discrimination ordinance and prevent local governments from passing similar acts. It also would require schools, agencies and public college campuses to require communal bathrooms be designated for use only by people based on their biological sex. The eventual legislation was still getting work Tuesday. House Speaker Tim Moore says he believes Gov. Pat McCrory can support the final product.
