Snakes on a Plane is a 2006 American action thriller film[2] directed by David R. Ellis and starring Samuel L. Jackson. It was released by New Line Cinema on August 18, 2006, in North America. The film was written by David Dalessandro, John Heffernan, and Sheldon Turner and follows the events of hundreds of snakes being released on a passenger plane in an attempt to kill a trial witness.
The film gained a considerable amount of attention before its release, forming large fanbases online and becoming an Internet phenomenon, due to the film's title, casting, and premise. In response to the Internet fan base, New Line Cinema incorporated feedback from online users into its production, and added five days of reshooting. Before and after the film was released, it was parodied and alluded to on television shows and films, fan-made videos, video games, and various forms of literature.
Released in the United States and United Kingdom on August 18, 2006, the film received mixed to positive reviews with 68% of reviews positive and an average normalized score of 58%, according to the review aggregation websites Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic, respectively. Despite the immense Internet buzz, the film's gross revenue did not live up to expectations, earning US$15.25 million in its opening weekend.[3][4] The film grossed US$62 million worldwide before its release on home video on January 2, 2007.

Plot[edit]
After witnessing gangster Eddie Kim brutally beat U.S. Prosecutor Daniel Hayes to death in Hawaii, Sean Jones is escorted by FBI agents Neville Flynn (Jackson) and John Sanders on a Boeing 747-400 to testify in a trial in Los Angeles. Despite increased security for the flight, Kim arranges for a time-release crate full of venomous snakes to be placed in the cargo hold in an attempt to bring down the plane before it reaches Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). To ensure the snakes attack the passengers without being provoked, he has one of his henchmen disguised as an airport ground employee spray the passengers' leis with a special pheromone which makes the snakes more aggressive in their attack.
The crate opens midway through the flight and the snakes make their way through the cabin. A cat in the cargo bay, a couple having sex in the bathroom, and a man using the bathroom are the first killed. The plane's captain, Sam McKeon, investigates and fixes an electrical short, but is killed by the viper that caused it. Co-pilot Rick, unaware of the snake, believes Sam has suffered a heart attack and continues toward LAX. Some of the snakes attack Rick, and while fending them off he accidentally releases the oxygen masks throughout the plane, causing several snakes to drop into the cabin with them. Numerous passengers, including Agent Sanders, are killed. The surviving passengers, who have made their way to the front of the plane, put up blockades of luggage in a desperate attempt to stop the snakes.
Rick is attacked and the plane starts to dip downwards, causing a food trolley to crash through the luggage blockade. The passengers flee to the upstairs first class cabin before blocking the stairwell with an inflatable liferaft. Agent Flynn and Flight Attendant Claire regain control of the plane. Rick retakes the controls and has Flynn go into the cargo hold to restore the air conditioning/ventilation system.
Agent Flynn contacts FBI Special Agent Hank Harris on the ground, who gets in touch with ophiologist Dr. Steven Price (Louiso). Based on pictures of the reptiles emailed to him via a mobile phone, Price believes a Los Angeles snake dealer known for illegally importing exotic and highly dangerous snakes to be responsible. After a shootout with the dealer, he reveals that Kim hired him to obtain the snakes. His supply of anti-venom is commandeered for the plane's victims, and Harris gives orders to have Eddie Kim arrested.
Harris contacts Flynn, telling him that anti-venom will be ready for the passengers when they land. However, Flynn discovers that the cockpit is filled with snakes and Rick is dead. After a brief discussion, Troy, Three Gs' bodyguard, agrees to land the plane based on prior experience. After everyone gets prepared, Flynn shoots out two windows with his pistol, causing the plane to depressurize. The snakes are blown out of the cockpit and the lower floor of the plane.
Flynn and Troy take the controls of the plane and Troy reveals that his flight experience was from a video game flight simulator. After an emergency landing, the plane makes it to the terminal. The passengers leave the plane and anti-venom is given to those who need it. Just as Flynn and Sean are about to disembark the plane, a final snake jumps out and bites Sean in the chest. Flynn draws his gun and shoots the snake, and paramedics rush to Sean, who is unharmed due to a bulletproof vest. As a token of gratitude, Sean later takes Flynn to Bali and teaches him how to surf.

Development[edit]
The story is credited to David Dalessandro, a University of Pittsburgh administrator and first-time Hollywood writer. He developed the concept in 1992 after reading a nature magazine article about Indonesian brown tree snakes climbing onto planes in cargo during World War II. He originally wrote the screenplay about the brown tree snake loose on a plane, titling the film Venom.[5] He soon revised it, expanding upon the premise to include a plague of assorted venomous snakes, then—crediting the film Aliens—revised it once again to include "lots of them loose in the fuselage of a plane."[6] Dalessandro's third draft of Venom was turned down by more than 30 Hollywood studios in 1995. In 1999, a producer for MTV/Paramount showed interest in the script, followed up by New Line Studios, which took over the rights for production.
Originally, the film, under the working title "Snakes on a Plane", was going to be directed by Hong Kong action director Ronny Yu.[5] Jackson, who had previously worked with Yu on The 51st State, learned about the announced project in the Hollywood trade newspapers and, after talking to Yu, agreed to sign on without reading the script based on the director, storyline, and the title.[7]
The film's B movie-esque title generated a lot of pre-release interest on the Internet. One journalist even wrote that Snakes on a Plane is "perhaps the most internet-hyped film of all time".[8] Much of the initial publicity came from a blog entry made by screenwriter Josh Friedman, who had been offered a chance to work on the script.[9] The casting of Samuel L. Jackson further increased anticipation. At one point, the film was given the title Pacific Air Flight 121, only to have it changed back to the working title at Samuel Jackson's request.[10] In August 2005, Samuel Jackson told an interviewer, "We're totally changing that back. That's the only reason I took the job: I read the title."[11] On March 2, 2006, the studio reverted the title to Snakes on a Plane.[12] New Line hired two additional writers to smooth out the screenplay.[6]
Taking advantage of the Internet buzz for what had been a minor film in their 2006 line-up, New Line Cinema ordered five days of additional shooting in early March 2006 (principal photography had wrapped in September 2005).[13] While re-shoots normally imply problems with a film, the producers opted to add new scenes to the film to change the MPAA rating from PG-13 to R and bring it in line with growing fan expectations. The most notable addition was a revision of a catchphrase from the film that was parodied on the Internet by fans of the film, capitalizing on Samuel L. Jackson's typically foul-mouthed and violent film persona: "Enough is enough! I have had it with these motherfucking snakes on this motherfucking plane!".[5] Subsequently, the public responded favorably to this creative change and marketing strategy, leading some members of the press to speculate that "the movie has grown from something of a joke into a phenomenon".[5][14][15][16]

A Scarlet Kingsnake was one of the many snakes used during filming
More than 450 snakes were used for filming to represent thirty different species of snakes.[17] The different species include a 19-foot Burmese python named Kitty (which the crew called Kong for film purposes), a Scarlet Kingsnake (the non-venomous double for the coral snake), a milk snake to fill in for the Taipan (which attacks the couple having sex), corn snakes, rattlesnakes, and mangrove snakes.[18] About two-thirds of the snakes seen throughout the film were either animatronic or computer generated.[18] The snakes that were real were mostly the non-venomous ones that are never seen attacking anyone. The scenes where someone is clearly bitten were often done with animation. According to the DVD, all the snakes had production names, but only Scarface (an animated pit viper), Peanut (a cobra), and Kong are mentioned by name in the audio commentary. During filming, Samuel Jackson did not come into contact with any live snakes, due to a contract clause preventing snakes from being within 8 m (25 ft) of the actor.[5] When the film was released in theaters, rumors circulated that two live diamondback rattlesnakes had been released at a showing of the film on August 22, 2006, in Phoenix, Arizona. It was later revealed that one snake had made its way into the lobby of the theater on its own, and another had been found in the parking lot in a separate incident. The snakes were later released back into the desert.[19]
Media coverage[edit]

Print[edit]
Black Flame published the novelization of the film, written by Christa Faust.[20] The 405–page novel contains significant backstories for the characters and introduces other characters that were not featured in the film.[21] An illustrated book from Thunder's Mouth Press, Snakes on a Plane: The Guide to the Internet Ssssssensation by David Waldon, details the Internet phenomenon and was published July 28, 2006. Waldon details various viral videos relating to the film's craze, and interviewed their producers to find out what about the film captured their attention.[22]
Comic book writer Chuck Dixon wrote a comic book adaptation of the film. DC Comics released the two-issue miniseries on August 16, 2006 and September 27, 2006 under their Wildstorm imprint.[23]
Music[edit]
On March 16, 2006, New Line Cinema announced a contest on TagWorld and a website promoting the film.[24][25] The contest allowed artists on TagWorld to have their music featured in the film. A flood of SoaP-themed songs were submitted by artists such as Captain Ahab (who ultimately won the contest), Louden Swain, the Former Fat Boys, Nispy, and others. In addition, a music video for the film, "Snakes on a Plane (Bring It)" by Cobra Starship, was released on July 10, 2006 on MTV2's Unleashed. The music video appeared on the film's soundtrack as well as during the film's closing credits.
In October 2005, Nathanial Perry and Chris Rohan recorded an audio trailer spoof, which helped fuel the Internet buzz. Perry and Rohan recorded the "motherfucking snakes" line in the audio trailer which was added to the film during the week of re-shoots. In July 2006, New Line Cinema signed a worldwide licensing agreement with the Cutting Corporation to produce an audiobook of the film.[26]
Television[edit]
Beginning in May 2006, episodes of The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and its sister show The Colbert Report contained references to Snakes on a Plane's title, the catchphrase, and general premise.[citation needed] On August 15, 2006, Samuel L. Jackson guest featured on The Daily Show, opening with the film's catchphrase. Keith Olbermann featured stories about the film and Internet buzz several times on his MSNBC news program Countdown. In addition, G4's Attack of the Show! featured a semi-regular segment entitled "Snakes on a Plane: An Attack of the Show Investigation", and even had a week dedicated to the film which included interviews and the appearance of hundreds of snakes on set.[27]
Internet[edit]
Snakes on a Plane generated considerable buzz on the Internet after Josh Friedman's blog entry[9] and mentions on several Internet portals. The title inspired bloggers to create songs, apparel, poster art, pages of fan fiction, parody films, mock movie trailers, and even short film parody competitions.[28][29] On July 6, 2006, the official Snakes on a Plane website started a promotional sweepstakes called "The #1 Fan King Cobra Sweepstakes". The contest made innovative use of the publicity-generating potential of the Internet, requiring contestants to post links on forums, blogs, and websites and collecting votes from the users of those sites.
Many of the early fan-made trailers and later other viral videos and commercials circulated via YouTube, and captured media attention there with such titles as: Cats on a Plane (which was featured in Joel Siegel's review of Snakes on a Plane on Good Morning America), Snakes Who Missed the Plane, All Your Snakes Are Belong To Us (a spoof of the All your base are belong to us phenomenon), Steaks on a Train,[29] and Badgers on a Plane (a spoof of "Badger Badger Badger"). Several websites also held contests about the film in fan-submitted short films and posters.
In August 2006, Varitalk launched an advertising campaign in which fans could send a semi-personalized message in Samuel Jackson's voice to telephone numbers of their choosing.[30] Within the first week, over 1.5 million calls were sent to participants.[30]
Previews[edit]
In June 2006, New Line commissioned famed UK audio-visual film remixers and chop-up artists Addictive TV to cut and sample Snakes on a Plane to create trailers for the U.S. television networks. The official teaser trailer premiered before X-Men: The Last Stand, and the first official trailer appeared online on June 26, 2006.[29] Another trailer circulated in July 2006, showing several of the snake attacks and a missing pilot and co-pilot. Rotten Tomatoes had video clips of the official trailers, as well as fan-made trailers.[31]
During a July 21, 2006 panel discussion at the Comic-Con Convention in San Diego, California, a preview clip from the film was shown to a crowd of more than 6,500 people. The panel included actors Samuel L. Jackson and Kenan Thompson, director David R. Ellis, and snake-handler Jules Sylvester.[32]
Release[edit]

"No movie shall triumph over Snakes on a Plane. Unless I happen to feel like making a movie called More Motherfucking Snakes on More Motherfucking Planes."
—Samuel L. Jackson, joking that the film would win the MTV Movie Award for "Best Film" in 2007[12]
Snakes on a Plane debuted on August 18, 2006. The film opened in 3,555 theaters and had some late-night screenings on August 17. In a move meant to exploit the attention from the film, a straight-to-DVD Z-movie horror film with a supernatural twist, Snakes on a Train, was released on August 15, 2006, three days before the film's theatrical release.[33]
Critical response[edit]
In mid-July 2006, New Line Cinema revealed that it would not be showing any advance screenings for critics.[34] After the film opened, the review aggregation website Rotten Tomatoes gave the film a score of 68% based reviews from 169 critics, with the consensus: "Snakes on a Plane lives up to its title, featuring snakes on a plane. It isn't perfect, but then again, it doesn't need to be." reviews, with an average score of 6.2/10.[31] At the website Metacritic, which uses a normalized rating system, the film earned a mixed rating of 58% based on 31 reviews by mainstream critics.[35] Reviewers reported audiences cheering, applauding, and engaging in "call and response", noting that audience participation was an important part of the film's appeal.[36][37]
The Arizona Republic's Randy Cordova gave the film a positive review, calling the film "... an exploitation flick that knows what it wants to do, and it gets the job done expertly." and a "... Mecca for B-movie lovers."[38] Mick LaSalle of the San Francisco Chronicle enjoyed the film, asking his readers "... if you can find a better time at the movies this year than this wild comic thriller, let me in on it."[39] Boston Globe reviewer Ty Burr reacted to Samuel L. Jackson's performance by saying he "... bestrides this film with the authority of someone who knows the value of honest bilge. He's as much the auteur of this baby as the director and screenwriters, and that fierce glimmer in his eye is partly joy."[40]
Peter Travers of Rolling Stone gave the film one and a half stars out of four, saying that "after all the Internet hype about those motherfuckin' snakes on that motherfuckin' plane, the flick itself is a murky stew of shock effects repeated so often that the suspense quickly droops along with your eyelids."[41] David Denby of The New Yorker claimed that the film "... may mark a new participatory style in marketing, but it still gulls an allegedly knowing audience with the pseudo-morality of yesteryear."[42]
Film critic and radio host Michael Medved criticized New Line Cinema for agreeing to re-shoot scenes so that the film would receive an R rating from the Motion Picture Association of America to match fan expectations.[43] He argued that the film would have grossed more revenue at the box office with a PG-13 rating, stating that the demographic most likely to be drawn to a movie titled Snakes on a Plane is males between the ages of 12 and 15. "My fourteen-year-old son, Danny, for instance, felt a powerful inclination to go out and see the movie with his two sleep-over friends this Sunday night," he explained, "but I wouldn't permit it. It's rated R for good reason."[44] Medved ultimately awarded the film 2 1/2 stars out of 4 in a radio review, but said that he did so "grudgingly."[45]
Box office[edit]
Due to the Internet hype surrounding the film, industry analysts estimated the film's opening box office to be between US$20-30 million.[4] While Snakes on a Plane did narrowly beat Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby for the number one position during its opening weekend, it did not meet these estimates and grossed only $15.25 million in its opening days, a disappointment for New Line Cinema.[3] In its second weekend, the film fell to sixth place with $6.4 million, a more than fifty percent drop from its opening weekend revenue.[46][47][48] By the end of its theatrical run, the film grossed $62,022,014 worldwide.[1]
Robert K. Shaye, the founder of New Line, stated that he was "disappointed" that Snakes on a Plane was a "dud" despite "higher expectations".[49] The press declared that Snakes on a Plane was a "box office disappointment",[3][4] with The New York Times reporting that after all the "hype online, Snakes on a Plane is letdown at box office"[50] and Entertainment Weekly reporting that the film was an "internet-only phenomenon."[4]
Home media[edit]
Snakes on a Plane released on DVD December 26, 2006 in Region 2; December 28, 2006 in Region 4; and January 2, 2007 in Region 1. The DVD features commentaries, deleted and extended scenes, several featurettes, Cobra Starship's music video, and trailers. The U.S. Blu-ray was released on September 29, 2009.[51]

The film received further attention, when fans noticed the U.S. TV edit of the film purposely dubbed its foul language with nonsense words for a broader audience. An example is Samuel L. Jackson's line toward the end of the film, "I have had it with these motherfucking snakes on this motherfucking plane", which is replaced with "I have had it with these monkey-fighting snakes on this Monday-to-Friday plane".[52][53][54]

Plot[edit]
RECfollows a television reporter, Ángela Vidal (Manuela Velasco), and her cameraman, Pablo, who cover the night shift in one of Barcelona's local fire stations for the fictional documentary television series While You're Sleeping. The firehouse receives a call about an old woman who is trapped in her apartment. When they arrive, Ángela and Pablo film the police breaking down the door. The woman becomes extraordinarily aggressive and bites one of the policemen. Meanwhile, the terrified residents gather in the entrance hall and look on as the police and military seal off the building. A firefighter who remained in the old woman's apartment is bitten and plummets through the stairwell to the lobby floor. The camera crew, remaining firefighter and the second policeman go up again and are attacked. The officer shoots the old woman. The camera crew remains trapped inside the building with the residents and continue recording in spite of the policeman's pressure to stop recording. Ángela interviews a little girl named Jennifer who lives in the building. Jennifer is ill with what her mother claims is tonsillitis. She says her dog, Max, is at the veterinarian because he appeared to be sick as well.
A health inspector wearing a hazmat suitarrives and attempts to treat the injured, who become suddenly and fiercely violent despite their critical injuries. The health inspector explains that the time frame in which the disease takes effect varies by blood type. The health inspector also reveals that sometime during the previous day, a dog with the illness was taken to the veterinarian; the dog became violent and attacked and killed other pets at the clinic. The dog was euthanized, and was traced back to the apartment building. Jennifer, the girl who owned the dog, then suddenly vomits blood on her mother and escapes upstairs. The policeman handcuffs the mother on the stairs and proceeds upstairs with the firefighter Manu. Pablo follows them. They find Jennifer, and the policeman tries to subdue her with a syringe that the inspector gave him, but she bites him. Manu and Pablo run outside where they find that the infected are trying to burst in the hallway through the textile shop. They are forced to leave the handcuffed woman and they run upstairs into an apartment, where the inspector tells the distraught residents that this unknown but virulent disease is infecting people, causing them to turn into bloodthirsty savages. More and more people in the building become infected, and Ángela, Manu and Pablo are forced to fight them off. Eventually they learn that there is a key to a door in the apartment building workshop, which leads to an exit via the sewer system. However, the key is located on the fifth floor in the manager's apartment.
After finding the key, Ángela and Pablo appear to be the only human survivors, everyone else being dead or infected. Rather than making their way to the workshop, they are forced upstairs to the penthouse by the remaining infected. They then search the penthouse and discover that its owner was an agent of the Vaticanwho was charged with researching and isolating a suspected virus believed to be the biological cause of demonic possession, which was later confirmed to exist in a young girl named Tristana Medeiroswho was raped by a group of priests. The agent kidnapped and brought the girl to the penthouse to conduct his research and possibly cure her; during this time the possession managed to mutate and become contagious. The agent decided to seal her off, presumably to let her die of starvation and dehydration. A door to the attic opens and Pablo uses his camera to look inside. A boy jumps at the camera and breaks its light. Pablo turns on the night vision to see in the dark and discovers the sealed door referred to earlier by the agent on an audio tape. The agent abandoned his efforts to cure the girl after failing to engineer a vaccine. Tristana, now a horribly emaciated figure, begins searching the penthouse, holding a hammer. Ángela and Pablo try to escape, but Pablo trips and is viciously attacked with the hammer by Tristana, causing him to drop the camera. Ángela picks it up and runs, only to fall and drop the camera as well. She searches for it in the dark but is unable to find it. The camera continues to record as the cries and screams of the possessed Tristana Medeiros are heard on the tape recorder, and Ángela is dragged into the darkness, screaming.

Plot[edit]
A television reporter named Angela Vidal (Jennifer Carpenter) and her cameraman Scott Percival (Steve Harris) are assigned to follow firefighters Jake (Jay Hernandez) and Fletcher (Johnathon Schaech) on their night shift. The crew responds to an emergency call from an apartment building. The apartment manager Yuri (Rade Sherbedgia) says that he and other residents heard screams from the room of an old woman named Mrs. Espinoza (Jeannie Epper), who has locked herself in her apartment. Jake, Fletcher, Yuri, police officers Danny (Columbus Short) and James (Andrew Fiscella), and the camera crew go to the apartment, where they find Mrs. Espinoza in serious condition. She is bleeding severely and foaming at the mouth. Moments later, they are attacked by Espinoza who bites James in the neck. They take him downstairs for medical assistance, while Fletcher stays with a now sedated Mrs. Espinoza upstairs. However, when they get downstairs, they find the apartment doors have been locked from the outside, leaving everyone, including several residents, trapped inside. Upstairs, Fletcher is attacked by Mrs. Espinoza and thrown from the railing to the ground, leaving him in serious condition. Lawrence (Greg Germann), a veterinarian, starts tending to the injured as best as possible.
Angela and Scott return to Espinoza's apartment where they witness the cleaning woman die. Jake and Danny show up and find Espinoza, with blood on her mouth and dress and her eyes bleeding. She charges at them, but Danny shoots and seemingly kills her. Jake, Scott, and Angela head room to room to bring down anymore guests; they bring down Randy (Denis O'Hare), Jwahir (Sharon Ferguson) and Nadif (Jermaine Jackson) (an African couple who don't speak English), and Elise (Stacy Chbosky), a woman who has many similar symptoms as Mrs. Espinoza.
The residents begin to panic as the CDCquarantines the building. Meanwhile, Angela interviews the tenants. A little girl named Briana (Joey King) is sick with bronchitis and says that her dog Max is at the vetbecause he's sick as well. After the interviews, Lawrence explains more about the conditions of Fletcher, Elise, and James as they all have symptoms similar to those of rabies, however, presenting themselves at an alarming rate.
Angela and Scott follow residents Bernard (Bernard White) and Sadie (Dania Ramirez) back to their apartment to check the TV news. On the way, they witness Randy being killed by a dog who corners him in the elevator. Once inside the room, they watch the televised report where the Chief of Police (Michael Potter) states to a news reporter (Jane Park Smith) that everyone has been evacuated from the building, then the power goes out. Elise appears, turns violent and starts attacking the others, but Scott bashes her head in repeatedly with his camera, killing her.
While going over the status of the tenants, Danny learns that Randy and the cleaning lady are dead, Jwahir has a paralytic father living with her and Nadif in their apartment, and a man from Boston that rented the attic apartment hasn't been seen for days. Two CDC Agents (Craig Susser and Bert Jernigan) wearing hazmat suitsarrive and attempt to treat Fletcher and the policeman by taking a brain sample. Suddenly, Fletcher attacks and bites one of the inspectors. While evacuating, Lawrence is trapped with the infected and is bitten.
The surviving health inspector reveals that the previous day, a dog was taken to a local veterinarian. The dog became violent and killed or infected the other pets at the clinic, causing them to be euthanized. The CDC traced the dog back to the apartment building. The CDC Agent tells the residents that this unknown but highly virulent disease turns people into bloodthirsty savages. Angela discovers that the infected dog was Briana's dog, Max. The remaining survivors become skeptical that Briana's illness is actually bronchitis. Suddenly, Briana becomes savage as well and bites her mother Kathy (Marin Hinkle) before escaping upstairs. Kathy is handcuffed to the stair railing to stop her from trying to protect Briana.
Angela, Scott, Jake and Danny find Briana in Mrs. Espinoza's apartment. When Danny attempts to sedate the girl, Briana bites him. Mrs. Espinoza, who survived the earlier shooting, then attacks. She is finally killed by Jake with a sledgehammer. They rush downstairs only to find everyone else running upstairs in fear, for they find the infected have broken through the shutter. Jake tries to close the shutter, as Angela tries to free Kathy. When they can't find the key, Jake drags Angela upstairs leaving Kathy to die by the infected. As everyone runs upstairs, Jwahir and Nadif are both separated and bitten.
Angela, Jake, Scott, Sadie, Bernard, Yuri, his wife Wanda (Elaine Kagan), and CDC Agent lock themselves in an empty apartment. The CDC Agent locks himself in an adjacent room when he realizes he has been bitten. They also realize Sadie has been bitten when they notice she is eating her own fingers and soon after coughs up blood on herself. Bernard pleads with them not to kill Sadie, and out of desperation, attempts to break through the apartment window to call for help, but he is killed by a sniper positioned in a building across the street from the apartment. Yuri remembers another way out in the basement, where there is a large drain that is connected to the sewers, but the keys are in his apartment. Suddenly, the health inspector and Sadie succumb to the infection and bite Yuri and Wanda. As they try to escape, they must fight off the infected as they work toward Yuri's apartment as Jake uses the sledgehammer on the dog in the elevator. After Jake and Scott break Sadie's neck, the group reaches Yuri's apartment and find his key ring. Jake is bitten by Yuri, leaving Angela and Scott as the only survivors. Rather than making their way to the basement, they are forced upstairs to the attic apartment by Danny and the remaining infected.
They search the apartment and discover that its former tenant was a member of a doomsday cult. He broke into a chemical weapons laband stole a mutated rabies virus. As Angela and Scott continue through the apartment, a door opens from the attic and Scott uses the light on the camera to investigate. An infected boy (Benjamin Stockham) swats at the camera, breaking the light. Scott turns on the camera's night vision. Scott and Angela hear loud banging noises inside the apartment. When Scott looks around, he sees a ghoulishly emaciated man (Doug Jones) searching the kitchen area unaware of Angela and Scott's presence. Scott tries to escape but trips and is viciously attacked, dropping the camera. Angela retrieves it and sees the man eating Scott. Unable to control herself, she cries out and is subsequently attacked, dropping the camera in the process. Strangely unharmed, as the attack deflected off the camera, she crawls slowly through the darkness for almost ten seconds, in a vain attempt to escape. Suddenly, she is dragged backwards by her legs into the dark, screaming as the camera continues recording.
Release[edit]
Quarantinehad an initial release date of October 17, 2008, but was moved forward and released on October 10, 2008.[6]Quarantinewas released February 17, 2009, on DVD and Blu-Ray.
In Australia, the original release date was November 6, which was pushed back to December 4.
Reception[edit]
[icon] This section requires expansion. (September 2012)
Quarantine, which was not screened for American critics,[7]received mixed reviews from critics. Rotten Tomatoesreported that 58% of critics gave positive reviews based on 81 reviews.[8]Metacriticreported the film had an aggregate score of 54%, based on 10 reviews, which indicates "mixed or average reviews".[9]
Quarantinereceived a 70% from Bloody Disgusting[10]and Fangoriagave the film an 87.5%. Empirewas lukewarm in its response, but critical of the rushed and copied-verbatim style of the remake.[11]
Jaume Balagueró, who co-wrote and directed the RECseries, expressed distaste to Quarantineby saying: "It’s impossible for me to like, because it’s a copy. It’s the same, except for the finale. It’s impossible to enjoy Quarantineafter REC. I don’t understand why they avoided the religious themes; they lost a very important part of the end of the movie."[12]Paco Plazastated that Quarantine"helped REC to become more popular than it was. It moved a spotlight onto our film. You know, the fact that it was going to be remade in Hollywood, it was big news in Europe. Everyone knew that it existed, this tiny Spanish film."[13]
On its opening day, the film grossed $5,379,867, ranking #1 in the box office.[14]The film opened at #2, behind the second weekend of Beverly Hills Chihuahua, earning $14,211,321 in its opening weekend. Its total gross is $41,319,906 worldwide.[15]
Sequel[edit]
In March 2010, Screen Gemsannounced that John Pogue would direct the sequel, Quarantine 2: Terminal, which focuses on an outbreak in an airport.[16]The sequel was released on June 17, 2011 to favorable reviews.[17]
Awards[edit]
2009: Reaper Awards "Best Zombie Film"[18]
2009 FangoriaChainsaw Awards: 2nd place for Best Make-Up/Creature FX (Robert Hall)
2009 Saturn Award for Best Horror Filmnomination
Music[edit]
The song Facing What Consumes You by the hardcore band Hatebreedplays during the end credits.

Hasbro to Make New Jurassic Park Toys for 2014!

Author: Chris Picard | Feb-13-2013 6:59 PM

With Jurassic Park returning to Cinemas this April in 3D, Universal Pictures isn't wasting any time in starting up the Jurassic Park merchandise engine. The toy market has always benefited from Jurassic Park toy line ups in the past, so it comes as no surprise that the studio is once again pursuing the toy market to promote their next two JP films.
Toy super company, Hasbro has signed on to produce the new line-up of Jurassic Park action figures, plush, dolls, playsets, vehicles, role play, games, KRE-O branded building sets and novelty items.
"Hasbro's innovative approach to all of its products has made the company an ideal partner as 'Jurassic Park' has evolved over the last 20 years," said Universal Partnerships and Licensing president Stephanie Sperber. "Hasbro has been with us every step of the way, and we look forward to continuing our relationship and adding another blockbuster to this iconic series."

2207192010_2eb783572b.jpg

"As a global branded play leader, we look forward to continuing our relationship with Universal in this next exciting chapter by bringing innovative entertainment experiences including toys and games to 'Jurassic Park' fans around the world," said Hasbro chief marketing officer John Frascotti.
The first bout of new Jurassic Park toy merchandise by Hasbro will hit toy distributors in Summer 2014, following the release of Jurassic Park 4.

I cant wait literally cant wait me and my bud are going opening night but until then ill settle for the toys, on one jurassic park toy fan site they have direct links to hasbro and already know what some of the names are (they havent been released yet so no pictures)( http://www.jptoys.com/ ) BUT "heres the kicker" they'll only be coming to toys "r" us and spose to come out early march this year. there is a confirmed Allosaurus and Pachyrhinosaurus action figures coming and there are the following toys
 Dino battler 297221 $7.99
 Dino tracker 272188 $10.99
 Growler 295277 $19.99
 Battle pack 295334 $29.99
im not sure yet what dinos they are but this gives you sort of a price range. also there are supposedly some new "unreleased" toys coming as well
thats basically all I currently know
(all this info was taken from http://www.jptoys.com/ )

Fuck yes. I got the Adventure Pack in bluray last Xmas, and I will definitely be getting this too. When its cheaper, of course. And YES I am seeing the re-release. More than once, obviously!!! Cant wait!!!

Chris Picard ›
Posted: Jan-29-2013 10:38 AM

Same here, I plan to see it at least twice in IMAX. It will be quite a nice resurrection for the franchise to bring the classic back to the big screen. Without a doubt, it's all for the purpose to get the audience interested again for Jurassic Park 4. But I'm not complaining at all. Haha

MuldoonLives ›
Posted: Jan-31-2013 8:39 AM

I must correct myself. I got the Ultimate Trilogy in bluray, my bad. But yes, i am no complaining at all. I just wish i woulda been older to watch the rerelease of Aliens haha

Dinosaurs we want to see in Jurassic Park 4

Author: Chris Picard | Jan-03-2013 8:44 PM

Jurassic Park 4 is still a year away from gracing the big screens. Fans will however get to relive the adventure in 3D this April when the first Jurassic Park film is re-released by Universal Studios in theaters this year, but what fans really want is a continuation of the series.
So, below we have gone over the main Dinosaurs we want to see in Jurassic Park 4. If you think we missed any, post a comment below and add your own Dinosaurs that you would like to see in the fourth Jurassic Park film! You can also discuss Jurassic Park topics in the Jurassic Park 4 Forums!

Tyrannosaurus Rex

jurassicpark_tyrannosaurus_rex.jpg
Nobody can argue that Tyrannosaurus Rex is the most iconic character from the Jurassic Park franchise. Even though it faced a rather unfair defeat in Jurassic Park 3 against the Spinosaurus, the T-Rex remains the king of Jurassic Park.
Velociraptor

jurassicpark_3_velociraptor.jpg
Probably the second most iconic Dinosaur from the Jurassic Park franchise is the intellegent, agile and deadly Velociraptor. They've been one of the primary antagonists in every Jurassic Park film to date. To have a Jurassic Park film without Velociraptors is like a Terminator film without Arnold Schwarzenegger - it just won't work.

Site B's Rarely Seen Dinosaurs

jurassicpark_dinosaurs.jpg
Jurassic Park 3 did open up the franchise to incorporate more species of Dinosaurs, but they were rarely seen and we think fans will agree, that more Dinosaurs are better. Jurassic Park 4 should incorporate a lot more species of Dinosaurs and not just focus on one or two like in the past.
Leopluradon

leopluradon-1.jpg
Considered the Tyrannosaurus Rex of the prehistoric Ocean, the Leopluradon would make a fantastic antagonist for our crew in Jurassic Park 4. Many fans have mentioned that they would love to see some Marine Dinosaurs explored in the fourth film and what better Dinosaur to feature, than the gigantic and deadly Leopluradon!

So, what do you think? Did we miss any? If so, be sure to post a comment below and let us know what Dinosaurs YOU would like to see in Jurassic Park 4! You can add pictures and descriptions and let us know why you think it would make a great appearance in the fourth Jurassic Park film!

Chris,
If you have not already, read Michael Crichton's "The Lost World". The film version was not a proper adaptation. If Spielberg would have had a script closer to the novel, then it would have been a far superior film. But to answer your question I would like to see Carnotaurus. It is a chameleon like carnivore that is supposed to be cunning and fairly aggressive. In the novel the human chracters are relieved yet dumbfounded when a T-Rex turns away from pursuit when these characters unknowing go into Carnotaurus territory.

i would like allosaurus as it was a big predator i think the jp team should bring a wider variety of dinosaurs to the films

How about the Vastatosaurus rex based from the movie called king kong, but with blue eyes, omnivorous, tame and helpful for the JP team

i think there should be the megasaurus and the megladon DEFINITELY!!! they would be great to see.

I'd love to see a new dinosaur challenge T-rex for top dog, possibly Giganotosaurus.
Since the Velociraptors' size was grossly overestimated, it'd be cool to introduce a new raptor. One of even greater size, i.e. Utahraptor. There could be a feud type deal between them and the Velociraptors.
One of the best parts of the films were those magically moments, e.g. the velociraptor hatching, the sick triceratops and baby stegosaur. Another one or two of these would be good. Maybe something with little microraptors flying around the humans (at a whopping 2 pounds they'd pose no threat to people).
Also: Liopleurodon, not leopluradon, was not nearly as large as popularly believed. It's a common error resulting from false information in Walking With Dinosaurs (a nearly perfect in almost every other way though). Although still enormous by our standards, it was not the largest marine predator ever. Mosasaurs win that distinction. It'd still be great to see something aquatic, although one wonders how a mosquito bites a sea monster.
Secondly: Carnotaurus' chameleon ability is completely fictional. It was actually extra scaly, almost more like an ankylosaur when compared to other meat eating dinosaurs. It was however one of, if not the, fastest large carnivores and had a ridiculously robust skull, which would make for great action sequences. I can see the T-rex chasing Jeep scene but this time the dino wins.

Hey! What about the Deviljho based from Monster hunter, the Squiggoth from warhammer 40'000, the fat creature from heart of Darkness but on four legs and the Dawdler but called the Hinert and had four legs? They are friendly, gentle, omnivorous except the Hinert, the heart of Darkness fat creature and the Squiggoth who are herbivores, docile and helpful to the JP team that would be a good idea and with the Blue eyed Vastatosaurus rex. How about that?

banquo ›
Posted: Jan-21-2013 5:23 AM

Giganotosaurus, it's the biggest carniverous theropod. It'simmense size would be very intimidating as the main predator pursuing the characters. However I would like to see the Tyranosaurus return becaue it's such a classic dinosaur for the Jurassic park franchise.

Jmaster66 ›
Posted: Jan-22-2013 8:29 PM

Honestly I would like to see a whole new set up of dinos since according to people that this is the start of a new trilogy. I like the idea of a new carnivore challenging old Rexy and of a feud between velociraptors and a different species of raptor but the thing I want most to see is a new aspect of Jurassic Park an aquatic view some how
I would also like to see some of Ankylosaurus only barely seen in Jurassic Park 3

I would really like to see the Dilophosaurus again.
That scene when the fat guy gets attacked in the car looked like the Dilophosaurus was ****ing the fat guy due to the car shaking about like those cars with a happy couples in them at a drive in cinema.

Kaskade ›
Posted: Feb-02-2013 5:59 PM

Btw Spinosaurus was the biggest carnivorous theropod, not Giganotosaurus (check the facts).
I think they should introduce plesiosaurs like Liopluerodon and Mosasaurus and they should bring back the Pterodactyls!
They should introduce the dinosaurs that were hardly seen in JP2 or 3 like Ceratosaurus, Ankylosaurus and Parasaurolophus.

I would really like to see a Cryolophosaurus. And what about a new sauropod how about a herd of Amargasaurus.

I would like to see the pterodactyl again. I loved the seen in jurassic park 3 when the kid was walking down the hall through the fog and seen the pterodactyl. that part was awesome.

you should also bring the triceratops which was only seen in one small scene in the first jurassic park

Ryo Auditore ›

I wouldn't like to see new dinosaurs besides Allosaurus or however it's spelled, but I would like to see Sarcosuchus, Deinosuchus, and Megalodon. Sarcosuchus and Deinosuchus to battle it out with the T-Rex and each other. Megalodon is widely accepted to have been the largest predatory sea creature, and maybe of any creature, ever discovered, though its size accounts differ as we basically only have fragments, teeth, and the jaw part holding the teeth to judge, but it has been clocked at 40 feet, 50 feet, 60 feet, going as far as 100 feet on a very unaccurate measurement. Use the unaccurate measurement, just to show how screwed ANYTHING is compared to it.

dakota ›
Posted: Feb-08-2013 2:04 PM

As for a new top predator maybe to compete against Rex or even better Spino since there both aquatic. How about Purussaurus Brasiliensis, the largest Crocodilian to ever live. Measuring in at up to 50 feet long with a 5 foot head. Yes it is a bit smaller than a Spino but the mass of this things head dwarfs that of a Spino. This would be a good fight.

M1-cullen ›
Posted: Feb-10-2013 2:02 AM

There deffinatly has to be a really good scene portraying the carnosaurus! A battle between carno vs t-Rex would be epic! The t-Rex could win to bring back it's classic glory! It would also be cool to see some deinonychusas as the new updated/evolutionized raptor look for Jurassic park IV movie! These are some great ideas that should deffinatly be used!

kiwimonster ›
Posted: Feb-10-2013 6:34 PM

The leopluradon is not a dinosaur, by definition, dinosaurs are land living only, and do not include various species that live in oceans and such.
On another note, i would love to see an iguanadon, they're really cool, they have beaks followed by a row of razor sharp teeth, and were one of the first species of dinosaurs that had cheeks to help hold food in their mouths :D

Ryo Auditore ›
Posted: Feb-13-2013 4:03 PM

Let's bring in the 100 foot long Seismosaurus. THAT would be big. As for a carnivore, Carcharadontasaurus was pretty big. There should be a FAIR rematch between Rex and Spino, as Rex in real life was a more formidable and powerful predator than the other Carnivorous Dinosaurs that passed 40 feet, including Spinosaurus. As for Carnotaurus, I say... meh.

You forgot the king of wasted potential in the jurassic park franchise, the Dilophasuarus. The Dilophasuarus is awsome with its retractable hood and ability to spit venom at its prey. The short scene it had in the first Jurassic Park didn't do it justice and it needs to be in the movie I think as much as the raptors or the pteridactles.

I would like to see a daspletosaurus fight a tyrannosaurus rex with t-rex winning of coarse and many more realistic velociraptors vs gorgosaurus and spinosaurus vs tarbosaurus and dilophosaurus fully grown this time vs alioramus.

Just feel I should say something,
in the the third movie when the t-rex lunges at the spinos throat right at the beginning of the fight, that single move would have killed the spino, as the sheer pressure would have snapped its neck.
p.s the t-rex wasn't fully grown and was the t-rex equivalent of a teenager, you can even check on jurassicpark.wikia.com

For the love of god NO friendly dinos! I don't know what that person smokes but omg STOP! And we definitely need a return of the spinosaurus. Too awesome not to bring back. Best dinosaur ever! I really hope they bring Sam Neil back too! Also need velociraptors n probs T. rex as I doubt it would be the same without them. And maybe some aquatics if there is a way to get them in there ( make sense etc like how they haven't escaped into the rest of the ocean etc)

jas0697 ›
Posted: Mar-01-2013 2:21 PM

There needs to be a revamped, redesigned Dilophosaurus! It could make a smaller appearance like the Ceratosaurus in JPIII. And no, Dilophosaurus did not have retractable hoods or spray venom, that was just for the movie.
There should definately be a water predator in a huge underwater scene, but the sea creature should not duel T-Rex or Spinosaurus....that would look cheesy.

MAX30012 ›

I would like to see many dinos (and other prehistoric creatures) not shown yet, such as; ichthyosaur, Deinosuchus (a croc about 14m long), Smilodon (DNA of cat), WOOLY MAMMOTH, Dodo outbreak,Helicoprion, and Livyatan melvillei (think of an orca and a sperm whale combined).

I would like to see an Acrocanthosaurus in Jurassic park IV. If you don't kow what it is, google search it. It is one of the main exhibits in the museum I go to, (The Museum of Natural Science in NC) and it is shown that it was adapted to eating the giant sauropods. To see an animal that could tackle a 40-ton beast would be spectacular!

Carnotaurus - Out from the darkness
As we all are going to be pleased, that a long-awaited Jurassic Park 4 comes out summer 2014, we have many ideas and own thoughts of our own but we have no information about the dinosaurs, that we are going to see and have this time. Are the JP makers continuing the story, where JP3 ended, and does that followed a new JP era or are we going back in time, into the time, when SOMETHING has forgotten. I mean, in JP and JP2 eras, there were many dino species, that we didn't see in the first two movies, like Microceratops, Acrocanthosaurus, and the most recent lost dino file:
 Carnotaurus
This meat eating, vicious and extremely dangerous predator had no room to make a appearence in the movie JP2, however this species was scripted in The Novel: The Lost World Jurassic Park.
In the upcoming JP4, we are having a many unseen dinosaurs to make a real threat to humans. With my thoughts, there will be just 3 new dinosaurs only, and the most of all it's Carnotaurus.
Carnotaurus ment "meat eating bull". It is known form it's two horns on it's head, up on it's eyes. It was 7,5-10 meters long and had 2 tons weight. It had binocular vision, so it has great night-and day vision. Carnotaurus was referred to be one of the fastest large carnivores, and that could be very true, because Carno had strong and powerful legs. Carnotaurus also had a little spikes on it's back, starting from predator's head to it's tail. Carnotaurus could be good replacement to T-Rex, because i think, JP4 will not have T-Rex anymore, there should be more space to other species, and in this case, Carnotaurus deserves it simply, because it was already forgotten dinosaur from the storyline. Carno also had pre-sript to be in the JP3, but it was replaced with Ceratosaurus, because Ceratosaurus was smaller predator, and it didn't came into T-rex, Spinosaurus and Velociraptor's way. But what kind of appearence Carnotaurus should have? I think, that because with it senses, there should be a forest chase scene with Carno's.Carnotaur's could have dark colority, so they can blend on the plants and forest.

Posted: Apr-26-2013 7:32 AM

T-REX IS THE STAR OF THE JURASSIC PARK MOVIES!!!!!!!!!!!! He cant be replaced. He was star of the first two movies and it was bad enough that he was killed off in the third by the spino. T-Rex deserves to star in the fourth one!

Velocaraptor ( it would also be awsome to see a fight between two packs),Troodons, Alan Grant ( i know he isnt a dino but it isnt Jurassic Park without Grant), Micro Raptors, Mosasaur, Megladon, Mawsonia (for the Spinosaurus to eat)

How can Jurassic Park remain a top franchise for Universal Studios?

Author: Travlis  | Dec-29-2012 8:08 PM

A brilliant scientist desperately seeks a cure for Alzheimer's disease to save his severely ailing father. The scientists eventually develops ALZ-112, a drug that is the potential cure for Alzheimer's but inadvertently becomes the virus that could wipe out human civilization. This same scientist is the caretaker of a simian infant that has been genetically inclined with heightened intelligence, due to its mother passing down the ALZ-112. During the course of falling in love with a local zoologist, the scientist loses care of the now grown chimpanzee due to a near mortal encounter with a vexed neighbor. The chimp uses the ALZ-112 to start a revolution that may be the start of a 2nd evolution on Earth. All of the aforementioned and more happened in great detail in only 105 minutes in Rise of the Planet Of The Apes.

Jurassic-Park-1_510.jpg

Husband and wife scribes Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver penned Rise of the Planet of the Apes and the spec script for a sequel entitled Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes. Now Steven Spielberg has hired the couple to write the yet to be formally titled Jurassic Park IV. The ability to tell a small preliminary story and then seamlessly roll into a primary story will be essential to making another dinosaur movie work. The movie screens are scheduled to be lined with Transformer, Star Wars, and other franchise entries/reboots. Universal has yet to produce a movie that joins the 1 billion+ grossing club; for the first Jurassic Park grossed 916 million dollars. The sequels made 600 million and 350 million. More notably, the sequels do not have the critical and audience acclaim of the 1993 original film. I still remember my father taking me to see the film on opening weekend, and after Saving Private Ryan, The Dark Knight, Skyfall, and Inception, it still remains one of my greatest theater bound experiences.
I have read Michael Crichton's The Lost World three times, and I am still amazed that David Koepp's adaptation was sub-par. The story to Crichton's novel was more imaginative and intense than the superb 1990 novel Jurassic Park. Why merge characters together to make a single character and have a T-Rex running loose in San Diego? The climax of the movie plays out like a derivative Godzilla movie. There were so many great elements that could have been incorporated from the novel such as the chameleon dinosaurs and the Puerto Rican army’s discovery of mangled human remains on secluded beaches. William Monahan, the brilliant writer of The Departed had an idea for JPIV that fans and Spielberg immediately dismissed: Hybrid human dinosaurs. Anything in this realm deserves to be on the Syfy (formerly Sci Fi) channel and not in theaters and later Blu-ray and DVD. The recently released concept art for these hydrids can be easily googled and looks quite horrendous and very ill-conceived.
Before joining Scified as the admin to Robopocalypse I read discussions from members (brilliant discussions) on the possibilities of exploring the origins and downfall InGen: John Hammonds' company that successfully and unsuccessfully attempts to reintroduce dinosaurs to the Earths ecosphere. As of now that is one of the most popular and viable ideas to surface on the internet for a potential sequel. InGen is a corporation that will do anything to cover up its tracks. Perhaps a scene and/or major plot point in the movie could include military or law enforcement responding to gruesome deaths of islanders and now these armed forces have to deal with Dinosaurs and highly skilled InGen mercenaries.
With Steven Spielberg staying on as a producer and not director, the question is the same as the continuation of the Star Wars series: Who will helm this project? I do not think potential director Joe Johnson (JPIII and Captain America: The First Avenger) a still decent filmmaker, is up to the task of making this truly remarkable. Once plot details of Jaffa and Silver's script are released, maybe science fiction and franchise fans can be confident in the production of a solid movie.

Great article, Travlis. I would like to see someone like Abrams to helm this version as the previous version, which is childish and nothing else, but dumb, kind of killed the magic of the Jurassic Park that Mr. Spielberg created years ago for the audience. I think they should bring someone to make us all fall in love with Jurassic Park again.

Concept Art For Jurassic Park 4?

Author: Subject13 | Oct-09-2012 10:42 PM

Jurassic Park 4 is back in development, leading once again to murmurs that the script focuses on "weaponized dinosaurs." Rumors of a scuttled "genetically altered dinosaur soldier" draft of the fourth Park flick have been circulating for years and a wonderfully zany batch of Jurassic Park 4 concept art has recently come to our attention. Did we dodge a bullet here? Perhaps. The real question is, "Do you enjoy your bullets stuffed with parmesan and peyote?"
original.jpg
These images come to us from NeoGaf (via Reddit) and detail illustrations allegedly by concept artist Carlos Huante and models by Industrial Light & Magic.

So odd... Very glad they never went with these concepts. It reminds me of THE LIZARD from the new Amazing Spider-Man movie.

Oh, this looks bad. But if you place them each in circus clothes and have them do a dance number, you'd have the greatest show on earth.

My God, I will never be sure it's not gonna happen untill I actually see the fuckin' movie -,- It'll show up every night as my worst nightmare.. Just in cause I wrote a letter for Steven
 "Dear Mr. Spielberg
I'm writting to you, because I belive you are actually the last reasonable person of the Jurassic Park IV crew. I want to assure you that if the creatures we can see on this beautiful artworks are going to show up in the movie I AM GOING TO KILL MYSELF :)I'm not sure how am I going to do, maybe I just light myself on fire at the cinema... Dont really know, but I promise... You are letting it happen - I am done :)
 Sincerly,
PS. If you can't afford a decent concept art designer, I will do it myself voluntarily"

God I hope they don't ruin one of the greatest movies ever made, seriously hybrids???? Movies are starting to get too weird now a days it's like people forget how amazing the older movies were, seriously the 1st one really made it seem like this could actually happen one day. Now they wanna go and make a movie that is just insane (and not in a good way), hell I'm watching the 1st one right now and it seems so real which why I fell in love with this movie, I'm tired of every sequel to an amazing movie being some Syfy futuristic BS STOP RUINING MOVIES!!!!! I honastly believe that a sequel with the original cast would be amazing is everyone forgetting that the original cast is why we fell in love with this movie, who doesn't wanna see John in his OG White outfit and mosquito pimp cane haha, why not have Tim and his sister be the main characters and head back to the island why is that such a bad idea? Keep it original dont twist it and make it something completely different it will suck and ruin the chances of continuing this franchise.

Twest231989 ›
Posted: Oct-20-2012 5:24 AM

Ok maybe not John I don't even know if the actor is still alive he was pretty old in the 1st one. But defiantly everyone else should be in it.

OK, to the creators for Jurassic Park 4, all of us fans can agree; STICK TO THE ORGINAL DESIGN FOR THE DINOSAURS UNLESS YOU WANT TO HAVE A RIOT AT YOU FRONT DOOR OPENING NIGHT! -love your 13 thousand members so far... just a little hint

Covetousjester4 ›
Posted: Oct-24-2012 11:05 AM

I am going with Twest. I swear that if they make these kinds of dinosaurs, that I will never spend a single penny on Jurassic Park IV because they will have ruined the whole series. Seriously? Hybrids? Come on, like Twest said, they should put some of the original cast, and some of the dinosaurs that we know from the other movies and maybe some cooler ones too. NO WEAPONIZED DINOS. NO HYBRIDS!

I've been a Jurassic Park fan since it first came out, the franchise is legendary but whoever came up with these ridiculous ideas is freakin deluded. Dino's with guns, WTF!!! Jurassic Park has allways been based in the jungle & people have enjoyed the movies that way for years so if they plan on taking it to the streets, guys just forget it as its been done in JP2, They should just leave JP how it is, the way people like it. Normal Dino's, in the jungle/forest, on the island(Site A or Site B), so please dont destroy a great films legacy by ruining it with this new Dino mutants with guns shit!!!

KillerKnife ›
Posted: Oct-31-2012 4:59 PM

that's just ridicolous... they must make normal dinosaurs, it's way much cooler than this.

Raptor90 ›
Posted: Nov-14-2012 5:27 PM

Please no hybrids....please. Bringing on new dinosaurs has always been cool, I just don't see it with these artwork things... Or at least just don't call it a jurassic park movie if these things must be used

Raptorize1000 ›
Posted: Dec-07-2012 10:34 AM

Im not going to freak out or anything...... But these dino things are pretty stupid. Who ever heard of an ugly man dino with electric laser guns!? I'm sorry, but the older dinos are really cool! Use some new "DINOSAURS" too. Fans love that! Dino hybrids are too futuristic and syfi. It would ruin the whole JP series. Bring some of the old cast in if u can. BUT PLZ NO DINO WAR HYBRID LASER GUN SYFI STUFF! JP would b ruined! and.... GO SPINOSAURUS and RAPTORS!

Ghosty ›
Posted: Dec-24-2012 2:09 PM

If they were to go through with this, I would probably lock myself away from the world because of just how horrendous it is!
There are some things in this world that just aren't needed, and this is definitely one of them.
Let's try to keep Jurassic Park, JURASSIC PARK!!!!! ^_^

fatal48 ›

I dont really like the idea of these abomination human-dino-hybrids. jurassic park was literally my childhood and its getting very....should i say odd. I mean seriously this is getting fucking creepy.

guest246 ›
Posted: Feb-19-2013 8:38 AM

what are they raptors or tyranasaues or tryseratops who know what they are they look to much like a human-dino hybird.

x_paden_x ›
Posted: Feb-21-2013 10:19 PM

Although it would be a very interesting twist to the jp series I began to ask the question "Would ingen really do that" no they would not there goal was to make dinosaurs not weapons. Im ok with the dinosaur and dinosaur hybrid (sort of like the Chaos effect toys) cause it makes sense most of the time man mixes the DNA of two creatures under the same specie For example two different breeds of dogs put together.
I hope they fired the writers who came up with these (creepy) dinosaur human hybrids cause they almost DEMOLISHED the entire Jurassic Park franchise. Thank goodness they have new writer Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver who wrote Rise of the Planet of the Apes.

jurassic park 4 now has a little glimmer of hope

JP-REX ›
Posted: Apr-25-2013 12:14 PM

ARE YOU FREAKIN KIDDING ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is gonna ruin the whole Jurassic Park franchise! Stick to the orignal design for the dinosaurs. Bring back the T-Rex and raptors and all them dinosaurs! Dont screw it up with these hybrid looking creatures. All of the Jurassic Park fans out their love that they are making a Jurassic Park 4 but they WONT be happy and wont love it if you dont stick to the orignal dinosaur designs. So please dont go through with this design we want the orignal dinos back. This design is absolutly rediculous.

Kathleen Kennedy Updates On Jurassic Park 4

Author: Subject13 | Sep-27-2012 8:10 PM

Coming Soon was invited with the film stars Henry Thomas, and producer, Kathleen Kennedy to talk about their upcoming project, Jurassic Park 4. Below is what they said about their project.
"Writing, writing, writing," she says of the current stage in developing the next sequel to Spielberg's 1993 dinosaur epic. "It's really hard to keep these things going when there's an expectation and a desire by the public and the audience to keep certain franchises going. As filmmakers, we often sit there going, 'Okay. We have to answer the question, 'Why do another one?'' If you can't answer that question, you shouldn't be doing it. It's tough. We're trying to come up with a story that makes sense and isn't going to disappoint people and is, hopefully, going to get people excited and reinvigorate the franchise. We've got to start with a script and the story."

Henry Thomas (of E.T. The Extraterrestrial fame) is going to be the star of JP4? I've seen him in other roles of course and really enjoy his work. I would have rather seen Joseph Mazzello return as "Tim" and take the lead role but Henry Thomas should do well. Nice article!

David Koepp Talks Jurassic Park

Author: Subject13 | Sep-16-2012 1:10 AM

David Koepp is known for taking part in Jurassic Park, the original film. He spoke with ComingSoon.net about the untitled sequel to the Jurassic Park series.
"We did talk about it and if I thought I had a great idea, I'd sign up in a minute but I did the first two and two movies on one subject is a lot, cause it's hard enough to do one movie on a subject. I did two and I just felt like I used up all my good ideas and if I had something really valuable to contribute, I'd love to, 'cause I love those guys and I had a great time doing those movies. I just felt like I never had very much to give to it."

Jurassic Park 4 Hitting Theaters 2014 Says Producer

Author: Chris Picard | Jul-23-2012 8:37 PM

Film producer Frank Marshall recently commented on the status of Jurassic Park 4 during an interview regarding the latest Bourne film; "The Bourne Legacy". Marshall indicated they they plan to have Jurassic Park 4 on the big screens for summer of 2014 by stating:
"I would say that it will be on the screen within two years."
Another great aspect Frank touched upon is the visual effects we can expect from the new Jurassic Park addition by adding:
"Thats whats gonna be great about it, technologys taken a leap now that we can really do some great things"
They also confirmed that the film is indeed a sequel, and NOT a reboot of the franchise. Certainly, some great news! Check back here for more of the latest news on Jurassic Park 4!

Yes! I don't think I'd be too fond of a reboot. Some series, like Spider-Man, need it. But Jurassic Park's a flawless dinosaur spectacular (despite my gripes about the Spinosaur OF WHICH YOU WILL HEAR ME VOICE OFTENgrumblegrumblegrumble). Super stoked.

@TyrannoTrevor You have a follower....this Spinosaurus....it's a disease that must be stamped out of existence XD
Other than that...no reboot. Just won't work...I wouldn't go see it.

personnaly i dont think it should be a reboot.
jp is an epic trilogy an the 4 should be double times epic i cant wait. so i really dont think a reboot would be appropriote. the films are too epic to change.

Jurassic Park 4 Gets New Writers

Author: Chris Picard | Jul-18-2012 4:15 PM

Jurassic Park 4 is currently being written by Rise of the Planet of the Apes writers Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver. They were chosen for the job because of their brilliant work with the new Apes movie - bringing a classic back and introducing it into a more modern world. They plan to execute Jurassic Park 4 in this manner as well and should offer a great story for the continuation of the franchise.
 Source: ComingSoon.net
In older news to recap for those who may not be familiar, this past summer indicated that Jurassic Park 4 will take the franchise in a whole new direction, according to possible director Joe Johnston(who also directed Jurassic Park 3 and Captain America).
"Why would anybody go back to that island? It was hard enough to figure out the second and third reason for them to go, but it would take it off in a whole other trilogy basically, but when it gets to that level its sort of about studios and Stevens thing and who knows."
"The most important thing I can tell you is that starts a new trilogy that will go off in a different direction a completely
different direction that is very exciting, and different from anything weve seen. It starts with the history of the first trilogy, but it spins it off in a completely different direction. Thats all I can tell you." So, could this mean Jurasic Park be a prequel? A reboot? Or a sequel? Who knows. Watch this space for more updates on jurassic Park 4.

there better be velociraptors that's all i have to say on the subject! And it better be awesome or i will disown Jurassic Park from being my favorite movie! :p

i agree all the reboots ive seen suck. seriously if this Jurassic park goes down hill cos of the new directors or something then i might even right a comlaint letter and ask them to make a 5th with the same directores and writers. Micheal Crichton MUST be involved or i think i might just kill myself.

ok dino hybrids suck! they look terrible! Even my dad says it already going down hill, really how about same look, just saying they have larger brain compasity

What if the problem was always that the Studio wanted to go in a direction similar to rise of the planet of the apes, but couldn't figure out how to make that work with the ideas and writers they had? They wanted Dinosaurs that could eventually start overrunning the planet and overthrowing the military, but unless you explain it there are problems with how they would overthrow all the military.
This is a problem that Rise addressed in very subtle and logical ways that can be expanded in the sequel. The virus is affecting much of humanity at the end of the story, even though the Apes escaping and taking over stops short of a full military confrontation. So there may need to be many internal consistencies planned for the new trilogy, where the Dinosaurs multiplying, life finding a way, and them overrunning the mainland is the true goal instead of making them smarter like in the Apes movies. Only the velociraptors would get slightly smarter. I have a feeling they scrapped many ideas, but kept the core of where they wanted their dino-hybrid story to go ;)
Playing around with them as a weapon may have been one attempt to lead up to this. However, to make that idea work all the even worse ideas about dinos with guns started coming about.
What if they still want to move the story away from the islands, and the apes writers have a way to make that work? Something like Jurassic World

If its human hybrid dinosaurs then that's just shit. Sounds crap. As for overthrowing military etc. . . So far from being plausible. As they only have two tiny islands there is nowhere near enough to overthrow anything. Let alone the world. I don't really give a damn about plot though. Just wanna see dinosaurs =)throw drunken teenagers/ college kids there. . . Shipwrecked people blah blah blah. Just give me dinosaurs. . . Not hybrid freaks. . . .please?
