Jurassic Park 4 Starts Filming This July!

Jurassic Park 4 officially starts filming this July in Kauai, Hawaii and Baton Rouge, Louisiana, confirming the speculations on JP4's filming locations which went viral back in February. The news comes to us from USA Production News who recently tweeted the following:
'Jurassic Park 4', the new movie of the succesful saga, is shooting in July. Crewing details available in our Newsletter.

So it's official, Jurassic Park 4 will begin filming this July. However, it seems like a bit of late start for the film, considering Universal is aiming for a June 2014 release date. This gives the project under a year to complete casting, filming and production. Regardless, we're very glad to hear that JP4 has been given an official filming start date.

It's sad to hear that JP4 is starting to film in July. I was hoping that they would start earlier. Like May or June. I'm getting worried if JP4 will be able to be in theaters on June 13,2014. Since their starting film production in July that means no cast members will probably be announced until May or early June!

I hoping that they either have a Allosaurus or a Carnotasurus in JP 4! Jack Horner said that there will be a new dinosaur for JP4! Jack Horner is the dinosaur adviser for Jurassic Park 4.Though he said he cant tell us what that new dinosaur will be!

if they're filming in Hawaii it helps my theory that they'll be returning to nublar (but they've used hawaii for site b too i think) but that specific location is where they shot some of jurassic park (1)
its also good to see the gears in motion again

Umm that might be Baton Rouge Louisiana, since the abbreviation for Louisiana is LA. Either way I am excited!

Im just happy that they are actually filming it. there was this seed of doubt in my mind that it would never happen but happy days.

Not Only does Baton Rouge have swamps but also a city...or more. I didn't really look into it that much. But I do know this: Baton Rouge has a swamp AND a city. Are you thinking what i'm thinking? JP4 might have dinosaurs running around in the city! Or they might have just chosen Baton Rouge for it's swamps. I almost forgot. JP4 is also filming in Kauai,Hawaii ! The last three films were filmed in Hawaii also. Well I dont know about JP3 because the backround was a kind of rotting swamp kinda. At least thats what they said in The Making Of JP3. Well I am glad that JP4 will be fliming in Hawii. Hope more JP4 news will come soon( hoping by next week).

I'm actually glad they've announced a starting date for filming. If anything, I have confidence in Universal Studios. Yes, filming supposedly starts only 11 months before the planned release date, but it must be true that movies such as JP are not harder to make than they were 20 years ago. I was worried before getting an official announcement as for the beginning of shooting, but now I'm more relaxed. And if, ultimately, it has to be pushed back a little (which I really don't believe will be the case), I think I'm ok too. I mean, just think of the bunch of news and pictures we're going to get once they start filming! From now on, it's all easier, compared to the 12 years of nothingness between JP3 and now.

By the way, now I'm excited about upcoming news on the cast. They must start surfacing throughout this month and the two months that precede filming.

Well atleast they're using real locations instead of using green screens through out most of the movie. So this relaxes me and his movie may turn out to be a very good movie due to the location where the classic Jurassic Park was filmed at.

This HAS TO BE the one movie that I'm actually looking forward to. Of course there's other movies that I want to watch but nothing compares to the excitement of this one.
Although, I do feel a bit behind on the times. Where does the "official announcement" come from? Who should I be following for the information as it happens (aside from this site of course)?

Jurassic Park 3D rakes in $18.2 Million on its opening weekend!

This weekend saw the highly anticipated re-release of Jurassic Park in 3D and IMAX 3D! I was one of the many who attended this weekend's premiere, and loved it! I spent the extra bit to go see it in IMAX 3D and am so glad I did. The clarity and sound were perfect, with a few actual 'popping-3D' effects really just being the icing on top of an already, stellar film. I highly recommend seeing it in IMAX 3D, you'll be glad you did!
With tonight being Sunday night, the opening weekend of JP3D has officially closed and with quite a nice profit margin. Read on for the details!

According to Forbes, Jurassic Park 3D earned a comfortable, $18.2 Million profit this weekend occumatively, and set a new IMAX record for non-exclusive releases - raking in 32% of its sales from IMAX theaters!
Domestically, Jurassic Park 3D has earned a total of $48 Million, since the recent reissues of the film in 3D. So all in all, not bad!

Jurassic Park 3D will continue to earn more and more as overseas audiences get to relive the adventure in 3D and all throughout the upcoming weeks as the film continues to play in select theaters. However, if you plan on catching JP3D in IMAX, you better hurry, because this time next week will be too late as the film only has a 1 week runtime in IMAX theaters.
Personally, as I stated above, I thouroughly enjoyed seeing Jurassic Park in 3D. I still think Jurassic Park has one of, if not the best film scores of all time. Certainly a great way to spend my weekend, no doubt.

Was a real treat to finally see the movie in theatres, and in 3D even! I ended up having a huge smile plastered on my face for the first 5 minutes of the film just from excitement. I think they did a great job with the 3D--sadly I didn't get to see it in IMAX but it was still good! If I had the money I'd definitely go back and watch it again.

i loved it, it was absolutely worth seeing i wish it had some more detail and 3d...ness? to it but other then that it was AMAZING im going to try and see it closing night as well
also did any of the theaters you guys went to did they have some sort of promotional 3d glasses???

I loved it. I had never seen it in theaters to begin with, only on DVD. It was awesome to see it in all it's Tyrannosaur roaring, Raptor screeching glory. The sound was intense and the 3D was pretty good.

I saw it in IMAX 3-D twice, once last week and the second time today, it was THAT good, I really enjoyed it. Some of the 3-D scenes with the dinosaurs especially the T-Rex and Velociraptors were absolutely amazing!

Really exciting experience, seen it in IMAX and couldnt be more pumped about how it looked! I was 4 yrs old when the movie came out and wasn't allowed to see it in theatres( kicking and screaming didn't work) , glad i finally got to see it on the big screen!

well i seen it on opening day on Friday night. unfortunately i didn't get to experience the imax 3d version but i did see it in 3d and let me tell you, the part where the t-rex pushes the explorer right of the road and into the tree with little Timmy and then it shows the t-rex again and he gives this tremendous roar, the theatre room i was in shook! like a minor earthquake! Jurassic Park in 3D is amazing!!!

Sadly I can't see it as the 3D factor kills my eyes & I got epilepsy, I've had fits in the cinema before & don't wish for it to happen agen. I will say I'll watch it on DVD agen & agen though as its my favourite movie of all time. in my veiw the best movie ever!!!

Saw this movie in 3D, but never had the chance to see it in IMAX. Regardless of not being able to see it in IMAX it was still amazing. I loved the T-Rex on the big screen and all the dinosaurs. This was one of my favorite movies and watched it a few times on VHS.

im glad the movie did good because i thought since it was an old movie it was going to flop in the theatre's so im glad. it's good to see that my favorite movie got one last successful release before going back into movie history.

Jack Horner says to expect scarier Dinosaurs in Jurassic Park 4!

Paleontologist and Dinosaur consultant for Jurassic Park, Jack Horner recently spoke to USA Today about Jurassic Park 3D and also mentioned there will be even scarier Dinosaurs featured in 2014's Jurassic Park 4! See what Horner had to say about what to expect in Jurassic Park 4 below:
Details are scarce about Jurassic Park 4, which Spielberg will executive-produce and Colin Trevorrow will direct. But count on a new, previously extinct creature rising to stardom.
"I can't actually tell you who that will be," says Horner, who will consult on the new film. "But you'll want to keep the lights on after you see this movie."- Jack Horner
So what "scarier" Dinosaurs do you predict we will see in Jurassic Park 4? Could we finally see the inclusion of the terrifying tyrant of the sea, Leopluradon? Or perhaps we will see the too-cool-to-be-true Raptorex! There have been quite a few Dinosaurs discovered since Jurassic Park 3, so there's plenty to choose from.

Oh God! What dinosaur can be so scary? I'm excited to read fan theories, but also I think the fear factor depends on other elements such as: performances, actors, film classification, gore, soundtrack, dark environments, etc.
A sea monster could be awesome but what if it is a land predator? because seriously What could be more terrifying than a T.Rex/Velociraptor?

The fact that, although they are in a sense, scary, I can't imagine a Jurassic park movie scaring me that bad.. which is exactly what makes me crazy eager to see this now because it will be something new haha. Buti am pretty easy to scare with movies, so I hope they deliver

This is excellent news! Because, you know, when I talk to my friends about jurassic park they're all like: "oh no, he's talking about them dinosaurs again..." I hope that when they see JP4 they'll have a bit more respect for the creatures that ruled the earth for millions of years. The scarier (but they still have to be animals, not monsters), the better imo!

Can we expect there to be a cast? Seriously, I really couldn't care less about the dinosaurs we'll see in it at the moment. Even less them teasing us that they'll be "scarier". If they want to meet their deadline, they really need to be filming soon, if not already. They really should have most, if not all, of their cast locked in already. The announcement of a director finally being signed on was a nice surprise, but I still have absolutely no confidence that this movie will make it to production. I want it to, but after all the false starts I'm not going to put any hope into this till we see some real progress...

These things take time, Jim! I'm sure they've started filming on some scenery, and it's great that they have some dinos picked out! I'm glad they're giving some good thought to cast and script.

If the expect to make this by june they need to start now ! Cos i can see a delay coming our way !
As cool as an underwater leiplurodon would be , i think it would be too big . Its the size of a whale lol u would just avoid the water !
Unless the story ends up bein an under water facility like DEEP BLUE SEA , then maybe , but that will disclude all normal dinos on land so i doubt that will happen.
Id like to see some nocturnal dinos maybe . THat would be a sick himt from jack horner, plus will make it scarier, n jumpy !! :D

I recon it Troodon because they are nocturnal and they dont like light thats why he said you'll want to keep the lights on after you see this movie hitting there something in the dark. also in on Isla Nublar they were put Quarantine Pen because they to deadly to be used as antraction so my guess is Troodon

I would like to see a marine dinosaur but i dont see the point because once the characters find out there is some big uderwater monster they are surely going to just stay away from the water. but other than that a marine dinosaur is a good idea.

But also could be a medium-sized predator. With sharp claws and teeth, very fast like the Australovenator.

Considering the above, Carnotaurus is a good option for the ability to camouflage.

I also want to see a full grown dilophosaurus. It was always my favourite and it would be a real hommage to the first JP if they reintroduced it in JP4.
And I also hope they use the raptor design from the first JP.

Carcharodontosaurus or Acrocanthosaurus both appeared in Operation genesis game also a good one would be Deinosuchus (Imagine the Croc from Lake Placid on Steroids) that would be a good Semi Aquatic Carnivore also how about the Flying Raptors

With the big underwater creature issue, there would be a scene where they have to jump into the water to escape something else I would guess. BTW, some of those pics were pretty scary! haha. I really hope this movie ends up working out on all levels

I would love to see a Carnotaurus because if you have read Michael Crichton's version of the lost world there are Carnotaurus in it and i think it would make a great addition to the films.

Alothough it hints more relation to reptiles which is clasified as wrong now apparently. But i suppose they could be mixed with dna of a cameleon i guess t the end of day they made velociraptor 6ft tall wen they arn't so y not !

I think all this adding new dinosaurs is a stupid idea, I mean look what happened the last time they added a new dinosaur in, the spinosaur, the movie turned out to be a dissapointment & I found that most people I talked to said that the Spino ruined it. I say ditch the Spinosaur & forget about all this marine dinosaur shit, just keep the dinosaurs all old school dino's like T-Rex, Raptors, Triceratops, Steggasaurus, Brachiosaurs, terradactals, Compies & Dilophosaurus. if you had to add any new dino's go for Allosaurus but overall just keep it old school Jurassic Park, new dino's just bring dissapointment

both look interesting, I like the idea of there being more than one scale of apex predator, perhaps the largest one exists in a pack. It would be interesting to see what happens when the largest sauropod gets into a fight with one of these predators, perhaps the sauropod could win with a stomping motion ... or perhaps he would be overwhelmed. Are these larger predators really adapted to hunting sauropods ? How do they relax anyway ? Perhaps they hunt differently to T-Rex, Perhaps T-Rex waits in a bush then pounces like a cat (or like a great white shark after a seal) and perhaps these other predators use their talons more.
A giant Croc would also be interesting.

I think new dinosaurs will be ok, but they should also stick with the classics. T-Rex needs to redeem himself after that fight with the spinosaurus, and it wouldnt be Jurassic Park without freakishly large velociraptors.

I wouldn't like to see marine dinosaurs. I don't see how they could convince us that these dinos would pose any threat (come on, just don't go into the water) and, especially, I don't see Hammond making these dinos for the park either, or he would've mentioned some sort of tank in the first movie. I'd rather concentrate on new additions that walk and prey on the surface. Though I kind of believe JP won't be JP if it doesn't focus on the original dino stars of the series. JP3 and its Spino didn't convince or amuse me.

Some kind of nod to marine dinosaurs would be nice but I really hope Horner's comment refers to the Carnotaurus. The reason being that it would be a nice tribute to the author of the books, the late Michael Crichton. If you read the Lost World, when Malcom and crew are at the island's fueling station across from the power facility/generators, they are stalked by nocturnal camo Carnos . That had to be the first and only time I had nightmares from a novel. That is my opinion anyway and seeing as how the movies tend to take unused scenes from the books, this would be a good one. But so would the raptor motorcycle chase scene from Lost World as well so there is still plenty of good, unused material to harvest from the written works.

It would be cool if they have a scene where all the lights turn off and the survivors have to escape the building in the dark while velociraptors hunt them down! I'm perfectly fine with scarier dinosaurs in Jurassic Park 4 . Just as long as they dont have spikes or are too different from Jurassic Park 3. I just couldn't see dinosaurs with dull colors in Jurassic Park 4. If Jurassic Park 4 is rated R I just cant see Jurassic Park 4 doing well at the box office. If Jurassic Park 4 doesn't do well at the box office then the possiblity of a Jurassic Park 5 will be 0%! Thats why I'm hoping the people that are making Jurassic Park 4 will make good choices and will NOT make Jurassic Park 4 rated R and have dull colored dinosaurs! But besides all my worries I'm really excited about what the new dinosaur will be! I hope it's a Allosaurus! I'm expecting the cast of Jurassic Park 4 to be revealed soon! I hope they have at least one character from the orginal Jurassic Park! Such as Alan Grant. Hope more news about Jurassic Park will be revealed soon!

1. Jack Horner is a belligerent sociopath. He should not be allowed near JP projects any longer.
2. Nothing will ever be scarier than JP1's velociraptors, and their clever presentation. Nothing.
3. JP had a sense of wonder and horror movie tactic to it. Not showing the monster is scarier than showing them...and in the break out moments when the monster appears...it happens to look so bloody real...that you wet the bed.
4. JP2 & 3 both destroyed all sense of real dinosaur. They were shown far too carelessly, and had all of their majesty stripped away. Read the Lost World, and many of the dinosaur related scenes convey that exact sense of hidden surprise that the genius Chrichton achieved in book/screenplay 1. Not so in e follow-up films.
5. As much as we all have always wanted to see SWS & ILM's take on a Mosasaur, Plesiosaur or other marine reptile...they would not make for a good primary antagonist. Just get out of the water. I could see there being an isolated sequence involving the previously unseen aquarium...but no more significant than the Aviary in JP3.
6. Raptorrex is dumb. I know it existed, as did Utahraptor and many other compelling predators...but the name is so stupid that putting it in a JP FILM would destroy their credibility. People would say, "so they basically took the T-Rex and the velociraptors and made up a new dinosaur? Lame."
And I'd agree. Historical accuracy isn't as important. Remember, this JURASSIC PARK, they place where humans re-created dinosaurs from DNA fragments. Their creations are not perfect. They are not historical icons. They are meant to give the public their "expectation".
7. Troodon is also worthless. A smaller velociraptor. Big deal. Stick with what works. And more than anything in the world, the original Trex and original Velociraptors are the only carnivores you need.

I think jp4 should include that one raptor(whos name I constantly forget)with the really long claw on its toe that nearly curves 14in!it could be the predator that makes you forget all about velociraptor.with all do respects to the vraptor, it was actually just 3ft tall.......as for the megaraptor, it would make jp4 more interesting.

Well what scary dinosaur could Jack Horner be talking about? Would you classify Liopueridon as scary though? I know or heard Predator X was way bigger than Lipueriodon, and more ferocious too. So what dinosaur could Horner be talking about? Well I can tell you this it will be from the Jurassic Period because all the scariest dinos seem to come from the Jurassic Period if you agree or disagree let me know!

Megalodon can't be in Jurassic World because he would eat up anything that comes near the water including the largest dinosaur to ever live the Brontosaurus! Yes Megalodon could take down a Brontosaurus IMO. A 100 foot shark could definitely do so.

Ironically the trex is the only one that resembles the one in the movie

Stars of 1993's Jurassic Park, Sam Neill and Laura Dern sat down with NBC's TODAY earlier this afternoon to share their thoughts on the re-release of Jurassic Park in 3D, which debuts this Friday! Throughout the interview, we learn some interesting trivia about Laura Dern's character, Dr. Ellie Sattler and who else almost got the role. Can you guess? If you guessed Gwyneth Paltrow and Helen Hunt, you'd be right!
Be sure to stop by NBC's TODAY to watch the full video interview: HERE! It's great to see the two of them together on camera again. I think most of us will agree, it would be great to see both Sam and Laura return to play their roles of Alan Grant and Ellie Sattler in Jurassic Park 4 next year!

I personally think that it would be good for some of the old characters to come back, just so Jurassic Park 4 isn't insanely different then the other 3.

Stan Winston was a genius at his work, and his amazing dinosaurs will be missed for Jurassic Park 4. It's fortunate that Jurassic Park will be returning to cinemas in 3D, so fans can truely appreciate the wonders that he created.
Also, I'd suggest taking a look at the bonus features of Jurassic Park DVD and Blue-ray which show Mr. Winston in action as he creates these breathtaking creatures!!

I am definitely going to see it the day its released. Ive always wanted to see my all time favorite film on the big screen and now I am very excited to experience the beauty and the awe Jurassic Park ignites with from beginning all the way to the very end. Ill see you all at the movies!

Want to win a Jurassic Park T-Shirt to wear to the re-release of Jurassic Park in 3D next month? With only a few weeks to go before Jurassic Park is re-released in theaters and IMAX, we thought giving away a JP-T would be a great way to help hype up its release and give one lucky fan something to add to their Jurassic Park collection.
T-Shirts.com have partnered with us to give one lucky fan a chance to win one of the two Jurassic Park T-shirts featured below! All you need to do is answer the few trivia questions, also featured below and email your answers to contests@scified.com with the email header reading "JP-T Contest" followed by your username which you use on the Scified Network and JurassicPark4-Movie.com. This contest is open to US residents only.

Cool little contest, definitely going to enter. Though I have a question regarding the second question. When you say "featured in the first Jurassic Park", do you mean the dinosaurs that where seen in the first movie? or all of them that were mentioned to exist in the park?
Not sure which scene I'll write down as my favorite, there's quite a few to pick from...
Edit: Sent my answers in. Was as thorough as possible. I would absolutely love to win. There is no way I'm missing the 3D release, and it would be really cool to have a JP shirt to wear to it. I never did see it in theaters when it was originally released...my parents thought I was too young at the time...Though I did go see both of the sequels.

Out of curiosity, what was considered the correct answer to the velociraptor question? I know I got the first three right, so it's the only one I could have gotten wrong...

There were three raptors. Most scenes only showed two, but when Grant and Sattler are touring Jurassic Park and go to the raptor complex, Muldoon tells them that the alpha female "killed all but two of the others", implying that there are three total left.

No feathered Dinosaurs in Jurassic Park 4

Jurassic Park 4 Director, Colin Trevorrow confirmed today via Twitter that the Dinosaurs featured in Jurassic Park 4 will (thankfully) not in fact be covered in feathers.

So, expect to see the classic Dinosaurs we know and love in Jurassic Park 4! Thank God too, because can you imagine what T-Rex would look like all covered in plumage and feathers?...

Well the dinosaurs in Jurassic Park were not identical to their real life, extinct counterparts. So, I wouldn't expect them to. Despite this, I actually think feathers look cool on some of them, and in some cases makes them look more menacing.

you need just the right amount of feathers for it like on the raptors that was ok but if you were to "decorate" the rex...well no one would ever like you.
its probably likely that from hatchling to very young juvenile they'd have feathers for warmth but they'd probably shed them in them when they are a full juvenile

Not all dinosaurs looked that way anyways. In fact a number of them didnt have feathers at all honestly. Feathers were for an early way of insulation, but, cold blooded reptiles being endothermic that would inhibit their ability to regulate heat. We should almost never see large Dino's especially one like Tyrannosaurus Rex. Being about the weight of a bull African elephant, the feathers would cause over heating issues. Scales isn't fails guys!

Has no one here heard of Yutyrannus ? Seriously ? It's a thirty foot tyrannosaur that was covered in feathers. Granted, it's from a colder climate, but it lends serious credibility to Tyrannosaurus having feathers, at least partially.
Although, I don't think people are upset over the non feathered Tyrannosaurus. I, for one, am upset about the lack of feathers on the "Velociraptors". We know that Dromaeosaurs had feathers, and just because a particular species hasn't been found preserved with feathers doesn't mean it didn't have them. No Smilodon have ever been found with fur, but thanks to bracketing we don't cover them in scales, do we ?
I think the lack of even an attempt to portray them as animals, as was done in the original (To the best of their knowledge at the time) is a disgrace to the original.

I am glad there are no feathered dinosaurs, except for the raptor it should at least have feathers on its head and tail other than that it is a great idea to add no feathers on dinosaurs in JP 4. Although the Albertosaurus was covered in feathers and scales but they lived close to Canada or almost anywhere cold.

thankfully, if we were to go by Wu's ideals from the books, the lack of feathers can be summed up to one simple approach - no one would believe that these were true dinosaurs. It could be argued the geneticists of inGen chose to alter the dino DNA to be more representative of what the general public thinks dinos looked like. In fact, there are many "factual errors" in the JP series that we can basically write off as inGen creating creatures viably pleasing/expected by the public.
The difference in raptor intelligence and aggression, the size of the raptors. Or perhaps generic Dino behaviour. Many people, including the characters for the most part, forget that these are not true dinos, but rather theme park attractions that have been created to meet a certain expected public ideal. So any form of inconsistency with modern science is okay.
Also, can't forget to mention, they can't start doing full on feathered dinos the fourth film in. In the third one you can argue the quills are for mating season (I think I saw a documentary somewhere on JP3 that claimed that, or maybe someone elses theory).

This is great, Trevorrow is already on the right track. They didn't have feathers originally for a few reasons: a) Dr. Wu engineered them to be more theatrical and b) Dr. Sorkin said in her journal that their lack of feathers was partially due to the frog DNA hack. Feathered dinosaurs would make no real sense if they were in JP4.

Well in March of the Dinosaurs there are Tarborsaurus or something like it that had feathers and it looked pretty cool.

the overreaction too many people are having about some dinosaurs having feathers makes me not want to live on this planet anymore. im ashamed of my species, this is exactly why every countries governments will not ever tell us about space alien contact...
apparently there are so many crybabies whining about a FACT like feathered dino's, something that has been proven on our own planet, these people will never be mature and level headed enough for something like aliens.
i thought people here were supposed to be fans of science and technology? i am disgusted by how many cant handle a simple fact. why do scientists even bother learning about dinos anymore if the public wont accept it, its a waste.
anyway, GROW UP. also, if you dont think a dinosaur with feathers is menacing why dont you take a trip to a local zoo? check out some of the large predatory birds and go cuddle them why dont you! since feathered animals are sooooo not threatening. go snuggle a raptor and see how sweet and ridiculous he is.
hell, not even predatory birds... why dont you go and give this completely harmless non threatening feathered animal in the video a biiiig ol kiss on the cheek?

I don't think any of us hate feathered dinos, and most of us said fine to feathered raptors! We just don't think it would be the same! We are not opposed to science!! No need to be ashamed!

In my personal opinion, I would agree that, indeed, despite the scientific inaccuracy, featherless dinos are preferred over feathered. Although, to an extent, I think a small amount of feathers on them (much like how the designers in JP3 managed to put a few feathers on velociraptors) a small amount would keep the menacing appearance intact, and perhaps even emphasizing it.

I guess I'm in the minority in that I don't think scientific accuracy should be sacrificed on the altar of popularity. We know that at least most of the medium sized and small coelurosaurs were feathered. Is it really so bad to show them as such? What popularity is gained by plucking them?
As for Tyrannosaurus, only the infants were feathered. These feathers were molted when they achieved their adult stature.

It's quiet possible grown Trex had feathers. Feathers usually don't get preserved in the fossilization. But as we don't now it's no problem with have them without feathers on the screen. With members of Dromaeosauridae it's a completely another thing they should have feathers.
The great thing with the first JP was you believed in the animals. For me the greatest moment in the film was not the action sequences. It was when you saw them as animals early in the film and the last scenes. For a short time you almost believed in them. In JP 2 and JP 3 they are only monsters. For me movie two and three is completely uninteresting.
It's impossible to believe in Dromaeosauridae without feathers 2013. It doesn't really matters how they explain faulty dinosaurs. If they don't at least give the impression of the real thing, the movie get meaningless.

I'm surprised at how strongly some people feel at JP4 dino's not having any feathers. Not on this forum, but in other places, for example this quote from the Telegraph.
Palaeontologist Darren Naish, from the University of Southampton, called the film's decision not to have feathers "a disregard for knowledge," adding, "It helps perpetuate the notion that dinosaurs were all scaly dragons, alien and unlike modern animals".
But remember that of the 1000+ species of dinosaurs described, only a handful have been found with evidence of feathers, nearly all of them small therapods from China. A full list can be found here

So many, if not most species of dinosaurs had scales and so are still portrayed in JP accurately, or atleast as what the paleontological world currently believes to be accurate, which is often changing.
Of all the dinosaurs in JP, only velociraptor has fossils suggesting feathers (marks on the bone where feathers could have bene attached rather than the impression of feathers themselves.) and they were given a few in JP3.
On a side note, despite the raptors in JP being described as 'chimpanzee intelligent', heres a quote from a website regarding the accuracy of dinosaurs in JP.
Velociraptor's intelligence (as measured by its relative brain to body weight) was the highest among the dinosaurs. However, this does not mean that a Velociraptor would be capable of opening a door! It's EQ (encephalization quotient, which is brain weight) was less than 0.20 which means its intelligence is equivalent to a modern day ostrich. Certainly, it was not as smart as a chimpanzee, nor could it do the amazing things shown to us in the movie, nevertheless it was probably the smartest dinosaur.

Jurassic Park 4 has officially been given a Director! From Jurassic Park IV Producer, Frank Marshall, we welcome Colin Trevorrow to JURASSIC PARK! Not 40 minutes ago, Frank marshall tweeted to his 18,000+ followers:
Thrilled to have director on JP4, Colin Trevorrow, an exciting young filmmaker who understands and respects the world that is Jurassic Park. - Twitter @LeDoctor
We knew Jurassic Park 4's director would be announced this month, with word of production starting next month, April 2013, it was expected. This is truly great news for any Jurassic Park fan as it shows the project is not dead, which many were beginning to fear.

Jurassic Park 4 also sees a new Producer, Patrick Crowley along with Frank Marshall!
So with a director chosen and a filming location in Baton Rouge the most probable starting point for Jurassic Park 4, the next step is getting a cast put together! Laura Dern recently spoke about potentially returning to Jurassic Park, but nothing solidifying her involvement in Jurassic Park 4.

This makes me uneasy. I don't like the idea of a not-so-experienced director at the helm of such an iconic reboot. He better be one hell of a Jurassic Park fan with tremendous knowledge and understand of the JP franchise. That said, if he pulls off an awesome JP, I'll definitely be following his future work.

I am about to view Mr. Trevorrow's short film and first feature length film. From what I read posted by professional critics and film enthusiasts, Frank Marshall and Universal Studios have made a fine choice. This reminds me of when Christopher Nolan and Marc Webb were announced for Batman Begins and The Amazing Spiderman respectively.

I really hope Stephen Spielberg has some heavy input as executive producer...he's the one who helped make the dinosaurs come to life in the first place, and he could provide some great inspiration for Colin Trevorrow.
Does anyone know if Stan Winston will be participating at all? Hopefully JPIV will not have completely computer-generated dinos. The live-action anamatronics make it so much more real.

As a recent retiree, my dream has always been to see how a movie is made from start to finish. How can one be a part of this upcoming epic? Hey, I would fetch water, coffee, etc. just to have a dream come true.

All's Well On Jurassic Park 4 Says Producer

Jurassic Park 4 is still well on its way, with new details about the film coming soon, according to Jurassic Park 4 Prodcuder, Frank Marshall, who Tweeted on Twitter earlier this afternoon: "All's well on JP4, updates soon."

With the predicted filming period for Jurassic park 4 to reportedly begin next month in Baton Rouge, it is expected that we will soon get clarification on who in fact is directing this highly anticipated Jurassic Park sequel. With the number of rumors floating about on the net regarding Jurassic Park 4's production details, it will be great to finally get some official information on the film's progress and casting choices.

Jurassic Park 4 Starts Filming This April in Baton Rouge?

There has been much talk recently about where Jurassic Park 4's filming location will be set, with rumors being posted all over social networks with no legitimate backing. However, it would seem we may now have an official lead as to where Jurassic Park 4 will be filmed and when that filming will start....
Universal Studios, the studio behind Jurassic Park 4 seems to be planning to shoot a very large film in Baton Rouge, nola.com reports. NBC Universal didn't respond to requests for comments, however an official at Baton Rouge's Raleigh Studios, has apparently confirmed that Universal Studios has in fact booked stage time from April to November of this year. However, with no word of a directer yet, it's hard to say whether or not these projected film dates and even release dates will be met. Here's some excerpts from nola.com's article:

Officials at NBC/Universal didn't respond to a request for comment today (March 12), which is in keeping with the tight-lipped nature of the production. (The studio hasn't even announced a director for the project yet, despite a targeted June 2014 release). And last month, in response to an inquiry from a fan, "Jurassic Park 4" producer Frank Marshall Tweeted, "No decisions have been made regarding where we are shooting."
But an official at Baton Rouge's Raleigh Studios -- where Universal shot both last year's "Battleship" and the forthcoming Tom Cruise sci-fi actioner "Oblivion" -- confirmed that Universal has reserved space at Raleigh from April to November of this year.
Patrick Mulhearn, the director of studio operations at Raleigh Studios cautions that until the cameras start rolling and sets are being made, that no filming location is set in stone:
"We have a great relationship with NBC/Uni and really appreciate that they trusted us with both 'Battleship' and 'Oblivion' in the past," Mulhearn said this afternoon, "and we are glad they are considering bringing more production work to Baton Rouge in the near future, whatever that may be. But nothing is confirmed at this point, and I guess you never really know until the office opens and they start building sets."
So, we have a potentially legitimate filming location confirmed and even a potentially confirmed filming production time for Jurassic Park 4, starting this April and running until November. However, the key elements to any film have not yet been announced; a Director and even a Cast lineup.
Will Jurassic Park 4 start filming next month? If so, expect to hear an official announcement about a Director soon! Keep an eye on JurassicPark4-Movie.com for updates!

I absolutly cant wait until this movie comes out, i really want to know who the director will be, i hope james cameron or something. But Battleship was an amazing movie and i hope jurassic park 4 will be the same. I also cant wait until we get some plot details!!!!! :)

I do not know much about Louisiana, but judging by what I know, this might imply a swampy environment, not as much a dry, wooded environment. This might mean more water, leading to the rumor of sea monsters like Lioplureodon , and could also mean another Spinosaur in the lake again!!!

Building the 'Spitter' for Jurassic Park

This video shows the process of creating the iconic Dinosaur which blinded Dennis Nedry in the film. From the creature's initial conceptualization and artwork to the actual mechanics and puppeteering, this video offers an inside look at one of the many stages which helped shape Jurassic Park into one of the best films of all time. Dilophosaurus was a more or less exaggerated antagonist for Jurassic Park. I don't think it got enough screen time, and the whole frill/venom/rattlesnake hissing thing was a little much. I wish they had had Dilo hunting another dinosaur or at least running around a little bit, instead of standing around and then randomly attacking a fat guy in the rain. They wasted the potential of Dilo to be a more cunning predator. Other than all this, I did enjoy it's appearance in JP. They should definitely bring it back for JPIV! Maybe it could appear hunting some Compy's or maybe a lone raptor, then get ambushed by a bunch of other raptors.

@Dinosaur.Fanatic WELL you see Dilophosaurus was actually bus size in length.
in the movie they had the frills and were small, from Laura Sorkin's field
" Wu's amphibian DNA has profoundly changed our Dilophosaurs. They should grow to six meters long. None in our brood are that big. I'm even wondering if the frill and spitting behavior are a splicing error. There's no evidence in the fossil record for that business.
Our Dilos may be small, but they're tenacious. Once they decide you're prey, they don't let up. There's nothing to do but get away as fast as you can."

as its wrote down the dilos were new releases to jurassic park thus they were still juveniles. the fact that they spit was because of the amphibian DNA that was used to construct them
if the Dilophosaurus are to return in jp 4 they should be full grown (they would still spit though its part of there DNA)

@x_paden_x Thanks for clarifying about the size and venom for the movie. i'm pretty sure if a dilo was incorporated in JP4, they would be able to pull off a more impressive look, and hopefully some more action - hunting, running, etc

maybe a more true to life form, like off of those documentaries with the frill to keep in check with classic jp would be in order?

Frank Marshall Answers To Jurassic Park 4 Rumors

Earlier this past month, many Jurassic Park 4 rumors started circulating around the net from one particular source who claimed to be potentially involved with the project. The rumors suggested Jurassic Park 4's $200M+ budget and production time estimates. A few days ago, Jurassic Park 4 Producer, Frank Marshall commented via Twitter about the rumors, simply saying:
"No truth to those rumors." - @LeDoctor / Twitter

As we suggested upon our initial posts about these rumors, they had to be taken with a grain of salt, and it would seem our skepticism paid off.
The roller coaster of Jurassic Park 4 rumors has been ongoing ever since Jurassic Park 3 was released and don't expect it to slow down until the studio and/or producers make any official announcements.
With these rumors put to rest, now we can eagerly await the announcement of a Director for the project! With a projected June 13th, 2014 release date, the team behind Jurassic Park 4 don't have much time to waste now if they plan to deliver a fully polished Jurassic Park installment which meets the expectations of hungry fans.

Im upset Steven isnt working on this one. And I sincerely hope Joe doesnt fuck this one up like he did with III (premature, unnecessary action, plot that flies past you...) Hopefully this one is much better, or you can believe some pissed off emails will be made to the one responsible.

James cameron is too high-brow for this sort-of-thing now. He's about inventing and developing his own concepts and franchises now. To him it would be like taking a step back or just going-through-the-motions of yet another film to reel-off.
He's slaved too hard to have carved his own niche in the market and put his stamp on it, ie. Terminator, Aliens, Avatar etc... the only way is still 'up' for him.
Thats why Steven Spielberg is no-where-to-be-seen near it, they have bigger concepts to invent and be a part of. Which is whatGeorge Lucas has got around to learning by passing on the baton to the next generation of fan film makers instead of just sitting on a concept gold-mine and not letting anybody go anywhere near it.
Its time new blood was unleashed upon certain established concepts for a change, we as fans have waited long enough with such examples as Star Trek reboots, up-coming Star Wars, potential 'stand-alone' Star wars films FINALLY!!! George Lucas and new Terminator films.
Incidentally, talking of Terminator films what would you think of giving Mcg a chance with the Jurassic Park franchise? To many he needs to redeem himself after what many thought was a poor Terminator salvation film, I liked it quite a lot, not a perfect film by any means but the roller-coaster thrills and spectacles were not that bad and could be on-par with Joe Johnson type Jurassic Park III film. Not a perfect film either but reasonably enjoyable to watch.
Some Say Justin Lin for a new Terminator film but I don't know. He's good with the Fast and the Furious type films but perhaps he should be given a different 'vehicle' (sorry about the pun). There are many newer directors on the horizon and its only a matter of time until they too reveal themselves in a break-out film.

Ratorex in Jurassic Park 4? New Dinosaurs Discovered!

With Jurassic Park 4 under way, we can't help but wonder what new Dinosaurs we might see in the new film. Since Jurassic Park 3's release, dig teams all over the world have uncovered some new and exotic Dinosaur remains which could very well be featured in the upcoming Jurassic Park 4.
One of these latest discoveries has my inner-kid going berserk. It's a cross between a Velociraptor and a Tyrannosaurus Rex which scientists have properly named "Raptorex". I know, too good to be true. The two most iconic Dinosaurs form the Jurassic Park franchise merged into one, deadly Dinosaur. Raptorex is larger than Velociraptor and shares the same characteristics as T-Rex, ie. short, two clawed front limbs.

Another Dinosaur which has since been discovered, is a towering Herbivore, named Sauroposeidon, which is about twice the size and weight of a Brachiosaurus. This Herbivore could very well be the largest Dinosaur of all time.

Other new DInosaurs discovered since JP3 include: Dracorex, Jeholopterus, Sinornithosaurus, Gigantoraptor and Microraptor.
Another factor which seems to be the consensus among Paleontologists is that Dinosaurs did in fact have feathers covering their bodies. So, we may very well see a very colorful T-Rex, covered in feathers in Jurassic Park 4 along with the Raptors and, if they decide to include it, Raptorex.

Correct me if I am wrong, but JP3 incorporated feathers on the Raptors head because there was thought that they are related to 'birds more off than "lizards". & still they are formulating more discoveries as noted above, about the history/features of dinosaurs. -- Also it would be AWESOME to see new found dino's in the 4th movie!

Yes, you are right. The Male Velociraptors in Jurassic Park 3 did have a small amount of feathers on the tops of their heads, but the Females didn't have any. I personally don't care for the feathered look for Dinosaurs, cause I grew up thinking of them as lizards. But who knows what avenue the creative development team will take on this one. But I do agree, I would love to see some newly discovered Dinosaurs in JP4!

I think you have to have a ratorex. you don't ahve to make it the main point of the movie, but c'mon, two of the most dangerous predators in the dinasour age. please do it lol!

What can be better a bit of raptor and a bit of rex !!
Its like the perfect dino smoothie :)
It sounds and awesome idea! It fits the "something has survived" clich� , and could possibly work on the terms of it being an accident in the labs , unknown to the scientists ! Like cross hybridation. Would be sick!!!!

i love the idea of the feathered dino's and would like to see them similar to "birds of paradise" which are very flamboyant birds with some really interesting mating dances.

i would also like to see more of the large aquatic creatures, like:
"Pliosaurus funkei"
it had a bite four times as powerful as Tyrannosaurus rex; in this artist's conception, the powerful pliosaur crushes down on a plesiosaur with its 33,000-pound bite.

comparison with a human, a killer whale, and a blue whale.

there are a ton of really odd and super scary water creatures to chose from, fresh and salt water. especially since our little planet is mostly water anyway. i find meat eating animals stalking you in the water much scarier than anything on land. (i had a few bad experiences in the ocean, most horrifying place to me now!)

I hope that they don't have the main dino like T-Rex have feathers..yea they might make it look cool but i'd like to see it featherless. It just takes out the scaryness instead of seeing a giant man-eating lized you might see a giant ostrich....also yea marine animals would be cool but not the main dinosaur because where would you put the cast? on a boat? so its basically like Jaws and dont get me wrong i love Jaws but i was somewhat boring since the cast couldnt move they had to stay on the boat and thats prob wat would happen to Jp4 if they had marine animals as the main antagonist....

thanks Chris! i think the ocean is terrifying and it was even worse in prehistoric days. aquatic creatures were pretty interesting like the large carnivorous whales and they could even have a megalodon!!!

Forgive me for this but its highly unlikely will see any new dinos because site b was were they "manufactured" the dinosaurs in the past 2 movies we didn't see many new ones except spinosuars site a (nublar) only had the fifteen species so my assumption is we've seen all of them so far but all the dinos on sorena were never listed? so there might be some hope for new ones
(but we did not see ALL of nublar/sorena so we just might see another of john Hammond's dirty secrets)

do something interesting like carnotaurus which is a little smaller and faster than t-rex(which i remember from the novel, has an uncanny resemblance to a chameleon and can blend in which would definitely thicken the plot) or vastatosaurus (which would play into the whole evolution and messing around with genetics increasing size)

That is such a cool idea to incorporate big scary ocean scenes with Leopluridon and Megalodon! Awesome pics belladonna! As for feathered dinos, I'm all for the raptors covered with feathers. It gives them a more exotic and even terrifying look. As for larger predators such as Rex having feathers, PLEASE NO! I agree with Chris - I grew up with featherless t-rex, and I think feathers would ruin it for me. Keep the classic scaly look for rex, as well as other predators (hopefully we'll see Carnotaurus or maybe Dilophosaurus).
In response tox_paden_x, you never know if there are more islands for manufacturing dinos that we just don't know about...

I'm sorry but Jurassic park's dinosaurs were based from REAL dinosaurs, not invented breeds. If they do decide to add new dinosaurs, they'll either be aquatic, prehistoric mammals, large carnivores such as Baryonyx or Yagchuanosaurus, large herbivores such as Mamenchisaurus or Seismosaurus, new flyers such as Quetzalcoatlus, or speed-hunters such as Deinonychus. I'm not saying the ideas are bad, they just don't fit the realistic-ness of this movie.They'd fit better in a movie where they were on a different planet.

please no megaladon but the piosaurus and plesiosaurus and elasmosaurus could come in through rivers like where they saw spinosaurus. also plesio and elasmo can walk on land although rather slowly. looking at JVANNEST's point

I do like megalodon, but i agree with Primelord.... megalodon is just not for Jurassic park. I think it's just too iconic of the giant shark in Jaws and that stupid movie giant shark vs mega octopus. I really want to see Liopleurodon! By the way, elasmo and plesio would NOT have been walking around on land. that kind of marine creature would have been in the deep seas, not in rivers. you're thinking of nothosaurs - those are the ones who could wade onto land. they lived earlier in the triassic period.

on the other hand, plesiosaurs like elasmosaurus came much later in the cretacious and were completely sea dwelling.

also, the whole idea of spinosaurus being able to submerge and swim through a river is a little far fetched and is credited as being convenient for the plot for Jurassic park III. spinosaurus did hunt near and in water, but did not swim through it underwater.
All this to say, I think it would be cool to have a scene further out from the island, maybe like an attempted escape, that could incorporate these big marine creatures in a more thrilling way.

One I would love to see is Sarcosuchus Imperator (or SuperCroc). It would be soooo cool to have a scene where it comes right up out of the water and snatches another dinosaur similar to the way the 30-foot crocodile in Lake Placid snatches the bear. I was going to include a picture but can't figure out how to include it.

Laura Dern Talks Jurassic Park 4

Will Laura Dern reprise her role as Dr. Ellie Sattler in Jurassic Park 4? Laura recently had a short interview with IFC last night and answered some burning questions us fans have been wondering ever since Jurassic Park 4 was officially announced as 'in production'. Below are excerpts of what Dern had to say about her potential involvement in the fourth Jurassic Park film:

"I know a little and it's been ever-changing. It's been evolving for many years as Steven has been considering it so that's all I can say right now," Dern told IFC on the Spirit Awards red carpet. "But very excited about the original 'Jurassic Park' coming out in 3D this summer. I'm going to see it soon, which will be very interesting."
Upon IFC asking about if she wants to return to star in Jurassic Park 4, Laura jokingly replied:
"Oh, I don't know. We'll see what they do. Right now we're just focused on our party of this summer,"
So, although no solid confirmation of her involvement in the fourth Jurassic Park, it's nice to know the interviews are starting to pop up with the original cast.
Laura Dern is currently busy promoting her new TV series, Enlightened. But let's hope she would consider returning to Jurassic Park, because as most JP fans have articulated, Jurassic Park wouldn't be Jurassic Park without at least some of the familiar faces from the original trilogy.

Jurassic Park 4 Production Details and Budget Rumored

With the recent rumors of Jurassic Park 4 being filmed in Louisiana still unconfirmed, this 'news' should also be taken with a grain of salt. The same person responsible for mentioning the first rumor of Jurassic Park 4's filming location is also claiming to have insider information about the film's production time and budget. "This just in: the next movie I might very well be working on will be 'Jurassic Park 4' to be shot in Baton Rouge at Celtic Studios (where we did 'Battleship' & 'Oblivion'. They say it will be a 9 month gig with a 200+ million dollar budget. Sounds good to me and it should be starting about the time 'Dawn of the Planet of the Apes' ends which is even better. "
A 200+ Million dollar budget is quite steep in comparison to the previous Jurassic Park film which only cost the studio a little over 90 Million dollars. If this rumor turns out to be true, we can expect a very large scale Jurassic Park come back with the fourth installment. However, we remain skeptical.
We have reached out to Universal Studios for any confirmation and/or clarification on the matter, but we have yet to receive any word back. We will of course update this article with any official leads we do receive and will be sure to inform you all regardless if this rumor turns out to be true or false. 200 million? that seems quite exaggerated unless this is going to be the best jurassic park yet, but with no leaked script we can only hope this is going to be the most Kick-Ass jurassic park ever

Wow! That is a pretty hefty price. The skeptic approach is probably the right one, but to actually make this they have to go all out. Fans really want something as close to the original as possible and they will have to do a hell of a lot to give us that. Mainly due to our praise of the first, but still. I hope this is pretty much true because i want this to really get rolling(even though they have a while to complete it)

Jurassic Park 4 Filming Location Rumored

News on Jurassic Park 4 has been slow as of late, aside from the news of Kathleen Kennedy abandoning the project to focus on Star Wars. But today we're bringing attention to a rumor which has started potentially revealing one of the filming locations Universal Pictures has chosen to use for Jurassic Park 4. Please keep in mind, this is a rumor and no confirmation has yet been made by the Studio regarding this matter.
The rumor comes to us from a member on a Jurassic Park fan forum, JPLegacy, where he posted:
"Just heard they're going to be filming this at the studio where my office space is located. Sadly, I assume there will be no rad animatronics to admire.
I'll pass on anything I hear not told in confidence."
Followed by:
"To my knowledge, it's the largest studio in the state (Louisiana). I don't have the knowledge to compare its size to other studios but it's a fairly impressive facility. I'll try and actually ask some questions and make sure any information is accurate/sharable. I certainly don't want to lead anyone on or start any rumors. "
The site is assuming the source is referring to this studio in Louisiana. However, this is just more guess work, nothing concrete as of yet.

Is it possible Universal Studios will be filming Jurassic Park 4 in Louisiana? To an extent, but there are many better filming locations out there. Tropical forests being the primary one that comes to mind when thinking Jurassic Park. But perhaps the plot for Jurassic Park 4 calls for a swamp setting, who knows. Until we get official word from Universal Studios themselves, I would not rule this out as a legitimate filming location for Jurassic Park 4. However, we will keep you updated if we receive clarification.
On a similar note, some other rumors have been circulating around on various websites suggesting that Jurassic Park 4 has been put on hold, or has been cancelled all together. This is simply not true. Just because the project lost Kathleen Kennedy as a producer, does not mean the project is dead. Especially with Jurassic Park returning to Cinemas in 3D this April, as well as official news of Hasbro making new Dinosaur toys for JP4, following Jurassic Park 4's release in 2014. Jurassic Park 4 is still well on its way until we hear otherwise.

I'm sure for parts of the movie this setting would work, but anything outdoors, they should use something more realistic! I have watched JP1-3 over a million times since I was a little girl and I have picked it apart in both good and bad ways (with timing and location and more).
I still watch them, no joke at least 3X a week, the husband can vouch for that. I'm pretty excited for something new!

previously they used Hawaii for nublar so if the fourth is returning to nublar (it should) they might be using lousiana for a different scene for example for jurassic park 3 when there in the pterodactyl cage they shot the Entire thing in a studio so maybe there doing a lot in a studio but that dosent make sense holly wood has good studios too so not sure at all as far as im concerned im baffled by this choice of location

The original filming locations should certainly be in it to keep the storyline and realism there but be great starting the film with Laura Dern (sadler) and Sam Neill (Alan Grant) Starting off by digging up fossils in Another country so maybe Trying to search for new undiscovered Dinosaurs in places dino fossils aren't really found in like United Kingdom (England) or other european countries like, Spain, Portugal, Italy ect

Kathleen Kennedy No Longer Producing Jurassic Park 4

Long term Jurassic Park Producer, Kathleen Kennedy will reportedly not be producing the next Jurassic Park installment, Jurassic Park 4, according to Jurassic Park 4 Producer, Frank Marshall who replied to a fan tweet on Twitter earlier today asking for clarification on her involvement in the project. Marshall comically responded:
"No, Ms. Kennedy has moved onto Star Wars and will not be producing JP4. She's traded raptors for TIE fighters." (Via Twitter)

Kathleen Kennedy Produced all three prior Jurassic Park films but will not be continuing on with Jurassic Park 4
As it stands, very little official information has been released about Jurassic Park 4's cast, plot and filming locations. Not even a director has been chosen and as far as we know, the script is still being polished.
With a June 13th, 2014 release date set in stone, the project should start to steadily move forward as we head into spring of 2013. The launch of Jurassic Park in IMAX 3D this April should stir up some excitement for the fourth dino flick, and hopefully some juicy news as well.

I can't wait to see JP 3D! I'm seeing it at 2:00 ET, and after that I'm watching JP 2/3 at home on DVD. Also can't wait to get JP on 3D blu-ray!
