The other day I was perusing on Facebook and stumbled on a sponsored advertisement for Ring Home Security. The commercial was saying how you can monitor unwanted soliciting without answering the door. Anyway, the solicitors at the door were JW's offering the awake and watchtower. The homeowner (through an intercom) declined and the jdubs were on their way.
Here it is: http://youtu.be/VzakNorPBnM
This video is no longer on facebook or the ring.com website. I wonder if they were forced to take down by the borg

Good marketing. They know that nobody wants to talk with JW's. I saw one the other day where the homeowner acts all cordial and invites the JW's inside. Down a hallway and through a door that opens outside to a sheer drop off!

I'm no Lawyer ( probably should've been... ), but I think it's wrong to use footage of actual people without their consent. I could be wrong.
If the security company had hired some actors to portray JWs, that would be different. Like I said, I could be wrong.

Doubt it was a commercial... probably a customer story that the customer took down. Couldn't find this one, but found another one under their customer stories on the website. Gray bible gives it away.

It seems to me that if someone comes to a stranger's door uninvited that the householder has every right to record the visit and to use the recording in any legal way. There may be restrictions in some locations as to using the recording in court (consent issues) but that's a whole 'nuther discussion.

Barrold Bonds 9 hours ago

Anna: you're partway there. The private individual could do whatever they want with the video. However, in the case of advertising or some sort of TV show, the person has to give consent.
Ever watch one of those candid camera shows? Some faces are blurred out and others aren't. The ones that aren't blurred gave consent (before or after the recording). The others didn't for whatever reason.

Just reading a news item on CNN about albinos being killed for their body parts.

"In some African countries, albinos' body parts are believed to bring wealth and good luck. As a result, attackers chop off their limbs and pluck out organs, and sell them to witchdoctors."http://www.cnn.com/2016/04/30/africa/malawi-albinos-face-extinction/index.html

While the people who practice this slaughter are extremists and few in number, they are driven by the same religious fervor that causes a few extremists elsewhere in the world to destroy their own families over one's questioning of the Watchtower governing body.

Absolutely disgusting that this is happening in the 21st Century.
While the people who practice this slaughter are extremists and few in number - you need to provide data that support this statement.
Clearly, all cultures aren't of equal worth ...

http://news.discovery.com/human/psychology/albino-toddler-in-africa-killed-for-witchcraft-150302.htm

In my reading of this terrible situation there appears to be three reasons for this happening. A strong belief in magic in Africa, the belief that an Albino's body parts make for the strongest magic and A market that will pay well for those body parts.
As bizarre as it may sound to Westerners, the idea of using magic to gain an edge over an opponent — or for success in business or romance — is routine and commonplace throughout Africa. Witch doctors are hired to cast or remove curses, and if you believe that magic affects your daily life — as many Africans do — then obviously those with the most to gain or lose (such as those vying for public office) want the most powerful magic employed on their behalf.
Unfortunately many believe that albino body parts contain the most potent magic, and this in turn creates a demand and threat to innocent lives based on superstition.

Have we noticed how witnesses just love to joke about other faiths and their strange teachings?
Eg, faiths such as Mormons, and others that have odd beliefs ...
But, witnesses don't seem to be able to apply the same analytical or critical thinking to their own wacky beliefs!
"haha...Mormons believe Joseph smith got gold tablets from the angel Moroni haha"
oh but what about CT Russels belief in pyramidology? Or Rutherford's belief that all the "ancient worthies" would come back to live in a big house in the 1920's in America to rule the new world order?

I told a witness friend once about some contractors who would not work on a children's day care center because they believed that a woman should be a "worker at home." He scoffed at how stupid that is and I said that I respected the fact that their belief took real form in their everyday lives, just like the Witnesses.
that shut him up.

I nearly had to walk out of an awful public talk where the idiot on stage was going on and on about other religions and how they don't want their members to think critically of them and try to prevent them from leaving. It was a lot of hypocritical bs to listen to. He made tons of points they could very easily be applied to the watchtard corporation but they ate fully exempt from the same free thought. I would almost swear he was awake and making satire it was so blatant

Here's something I haven't considered before. Below are the average life expectancies by country (male and female combined), which I found at:

http://www.infoplease.com/world/statistics/life-expectancy-country.html
How might the life expectancy in a country play into the WT growth and retention? For instance, Malawi shows a life expectancy of 60. All the adult age JWs who lived through the Malawi persecution in '72-'74 are over 60, so the majority are dead. The current JWs there don't remember it.
Many of the countries with higher growth rates are those with low life expectancies, particularly in Africa. This means that any growth there is short-lived.
I do know that looking around the assemblies (in the US) it is shocking to me how old the JWs are. They can't make the 'elderly and infirm' section large enough anymore.

I am sorry to have to tell you that you are making one HUGE mistake in saying that when life expectancy in Malawi is 60, it means there are close to no people there 60 or older. The main difference is summed up in two words, my friend: Child mortality. Life expectancy at birth varies a lot, as your tabulation shows, but if you had looked at it once they have reached the age of say 20, it evens out. There are lots of old people in African countries, but the figures above are influenced by the terrible death rate of children.
Also, that a population is ageing, as in Japan and other countries, has nothing to do with people living longer, but has to do with the number of children born. Fewer children born = ageing population. People living longer does not influence the ageing of a population. People DO live longer, but it is two mechanisms that do not influence each other.

The Old Hippie makes a good point.
I think the retention rate of born-ins is another important factor. If they are leaving in droves then the WT Society is pretty much finished and will go the way of other religions.
Within it's construct the WTBTS actively looks for ways to stifle descent.....it's shunning policy is off the scale so it keeps them much smaller then just about any other comparative religion. If you have 34 ways to get rid of a follower.....just saying.
Access to the internet is having a serious negative effect for the JW's, Mormons, Scientologists etc.

Average life expectancy does not mean people in Malawi don't live longer than 60. It's just the average length of a human life in that country. Being an average, it can be dragged down severely by those dying young and dragged up significantly by those that reach old age. People in Malawi can too die of old age at 80 or 90 naturally, like everyone else, but huge infant mortality brings the average life expectancy way down. You'll find plenty of people over 60 there.

Today's Wt has the below scripture as it's theme. Friday of the RC has the same as it's theme. The silver NWT is alone in using the word LOYALTY in this verse. Out of 37 translations not one uses the word loyalty . They are again misleading the flock. Wouldn't you prefer to hear about mercy or kindness, that's how the scripture is normally translated.

Micah 6:8 (Revised NWT)
8  He has told you, O man, what is good. And what is Jehovah requiring of you?Only to exercise justice, to cherish loyalty,And to walk in modesty with your God!

Micah 6:8 (Reference NWT)
8 He has told you O earthing man, what is good.
And what is Jehovah asking back from you but to
exercise justice and to love kindness and to be modest
in walking with your God.

The demand for loyalty is down to dubdom and dubdom alone. Check out the other days theme scriptures.
How they love to manipulate.

Yes, that's definitely a good catch as to how they twist the translation to their liking.
In JW-dom "loyalty" trumps "mercy" and "kindness".
Loyalty to the JW hierarchy and their policies is what's most important to them.
Everything is for the benefit and profit of the 0rganization.

To change thier new bible which is now a few years old to say loyalty tells me that the number of ones leaving is a big problem for them.

That's strange, that was one of their go to scriptures when they wanted to make God sound loving and merciful. I'd like to see how they went from kindness to loyalty. My guess is that the word could also denote loyalty which would be shown through kind acts. The original writers probably had in mind family, friends, and fellow Israelites not a religious corporation.

Yes, to "love kindness" is absolutely not the same as "cherish loyalty"
It creates a completely different mental picture.
Are we to believe that mankind mistranslated the two things God wants us to do up until watchtower got it right in the year 2013?

DATA-DOG 15 hours ago

I just looked in my handy Strong's Exhaustive Concordance, and can't even find "loyalty" in relation to the words used at Micha 6:8. The root Hebrew word that denotes mercy is # 2617 [ checed or kheh'-sed ] from the root # 2616 [ chacad kwah-sad ], which means kindliness, mercy, merciful, pity, and sometimes refers to reproof, but very rarely.
Unless I missed something ( I'm no Bible scholar and don't make that claim..) the experts at the WTBTS have either lost their ability to read, or have deliberately mistranslated this passage.

So these scriptures (Micah 6:8 is not alone) are used to emphasise the current focus on loyalty.
Loyalty = complete mindless obedience
The focus of loyalty = Jehovah
Jehovah = Jehovah's organisation
Jehovah's organisation = anyone higher ranked than you.
Truly disturbing heh, how one word can brazenly be misused.
Are you looking forward to the RC?

Well, I just looked up that scripture at Biblehub and it uses the word loyalty in the original Hebrew. It said, "And humbly covenant loyalty and to love justly."

That's an interlinear, a word for word translation. It doesn't consider multiple-word phrases or context. That's why no bible translation has used "loyalty" in that scripture. If wt is going base their decision to use "loyalty" on this interlinear, that is the epitome of cherrypicking.

And I wonder how many will actually quit their jobs just so they can attend the Friday session of this Grand Boasting Session. Are they going to be loyal to joke-hova even if it means losing all their means of sustenance and they cannot find another job in this time before the economic collapse?

In the German revised NWT they use "loyale Liebe zu üben."
That even has a completely different meaning than the English revised NWT. In German it means to exercise loyal love. The english version "to cherish loyalty" not even has love in it.
Before it was in German "Güte zu lieben", which means to "love kindness", which also has a different meaning.

Bible Hubs translation is incorrect.
Those letters are "chsd" not "ese". The word is kindness, not loyalty.
I only took one semester of Ulpan at the Hebrew University and know that's not even close to the correct letters, let alone correct word.
They could simply ask a Hassid rabbi, they're all over NYC. They'd be happy to share the scroll and discuss the meaning and put some knowledge out there.

I have started to look at other references to "loyal, loyalty" and their treatment in the silver ghost bible. The results are disturbing. The terms mercy and kindness seem to have disappeared in favour of loyalty. Just to be clear, if this seems like a sweeping statement I would have to put my hands up. I have of course not examined every instance, life is too short but I think there is a clear pattern emerging.
IMO they are not just an innocent example of incompetence, they represent an attempt to further browbeat the faithful into blind obedience. This in view of a whole assembly being based on this misleading concept is a dark, chilling development. It doesn't seem innocent or well-meaning.

I completely trust the WT to get Micah 6 v 8 right.
After all they've managed to interpret Luke 21 v 8 by telling us when the end will come for 140 years and "exSplane" what Matthew 24 v 34's "generation" really means.

We are all familiar with the story of the god Jehovah saving Jerusalem from the Assyrians by sending and Angel that killed 185000 soldier's. Well Heradodus a 5 century BCE historian related a story he heard from Egyptian priests. They told him that the god Ptah sent rats into the camp of the Assyrians which ate the bow strings of the troops and they then left in dismay, saving Egypt. So we can now add this story to an ever growing list of stories the bible writer's took and reworked for themselves.
We also know the bible story is just a story because after the king of Assyria left Jerusalem he went on to defeat several other nations Waring against him, he continued to live several more years and his son takes the throne after his death. If 185000 troops were killed he would have had to run home in utter defeat, his kingdom would have been over throne by his enemies and he would most likely been killed ending the Assyrian empire.

Jesus asked, "Who really is the faithful and discreet slave.." Maybe he didn't know?? Well, don't worry! Even though Jesus didn't cite any sources, DD figured it out! Enjoy!!
Evidently, "The Faithful Slave", isn't just the Governing Body of the WTBTS, feeding the many with their pudgy hands. The DTS, Dallas Theological Seminary, must also make up the composite/singular FDS. Why? The members of the DTS are the "some bible scholars" who insist that the "Evil Slave" is hypothetical!
Thats right! The nu-light from Jeehibbity-hop which all JWs must believe and preach is actually from the NET Bible scholars who are, for the most part, based at the DTS! If the nu-light is correct, and Jeehoober used the DTS to distribute spiritual food at the proper time, then the GB cannot claim the title of FDS!
It seems that Geoffrey Jackson was correct when he told the Australian Royal Commission that claiming to be God's sole channel would be presumptuous. LOL!
Yep, O'l Jeehobo has resorted to using worldly scholars from false religious seminaries ( Higher Education = Gun in mouth ) to reveal nu-light!
If the "some bible scholars" are wrong, then the "Evil Slave" must be real.
You know, I've always heard that the greatest trick the Devil ever pulled off, was making people believe he didn't exist.
Question: Who benefits from the belief that the "Evil Slave" doesn't exist?

Anti means opposed to or someone who is against whatever the prefix is attached. Anti can also mean in place of as we will find in the book of Revelation. Thus, to be antichrist means to be opposed to Christ or to place oneself in His place. The Bible actually describes two different antichrists.
"The antichrist is anyone who denies that Jesus came in the flesh or that He was both man and God. By denying this, they also deny the Father and the Son, as stated by the apostle John in I John 2:22, “Who is the liar? It is whoever denies that Jesus is the Christ. Such a person is the antichrist—denying the Father and the Son.” As John says in I John 4:3, they were already living in his day as he testified, “but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world.” Anyone who denies that Jesus is from God and did not come in the flesh is saying God is a liar (John 1:14). John says further, “I say this because many deceivers, who do not acknowledge Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh, have gone out into the world. Any such person is the deceiver and the antichrist“(II John 1:7)."
I see the WTBTS doing this.

So the large A, Antichrist puts one's self in Christ's place. I also see the WTBTS doing this.
Trump? He is a businessman, billionaire, egotistical, and somewhat idealistic, as all new into politics are, but nope, not the antichrist.

Jesus stood for leading a simple (material) life and very rich spiritual life. However, leaders (business, political and religious) stand for material abundance. This is a stand that can be described with the meaning of the term "anti."
Interestingly, I had a dream of Trump making it to the presidency sometime back when he made the controversial statement about abortion.

Did Donald Trump score some winning points with his Foreign Policy speech ?
He is going to put American interests first ? If the allies of the USA don`t pay their own way then they can take the highway ? ( my words not his )
Instead of propping up foreign powers , allies , with massive handouts in aid and Defence,he would put American interests first and foremost to make America great again , and those Country`s that didn`t pay their own way, they could look after themselves.
That was the gist of his speech as I read it.
Does he have a point ?

Just
It's interesting to me anyway to see what the bible says the timeline of mankind is in relation to reality. We are told that man was created roughly 4000 BCE then Noahs flood took place about 2400 BCE then only 100 years later they were already building the tower of babel. Abraham was born roughly 2000 BCE . Let's think about this for a moment. As much time has past between Abraham and Jesus then between Jesus and us, yet no sign of the guy.

What most people don't know is that before the flood the great pyramids of Egypt were already built. So we're many of thier buildings and temples as well as cities in the old land called Sumeria. Egypt has already created its first dynasty by 3000 B.C. and many experts say that people were living in the area next to the Nile at least to 5000 B.C. that's 1000 years before Adam s creation. Again let's not forget that people were building the tower of Babel only 100 years after the flood.
I think the piont I'm Trying to make is if were reminded of the timeline it becomes that much more clear how crazy we once were thinking the bibles was accurate and how we were so convinced gods day was just around the corner. Again as much time has past between the character Jesus and us as Jesus and Abraham. Today billions of people still wait with baited breath for the return of Jesus, yet most don't even realize that in the last chapter of the bible he supposedly said 5 times he will be back very soon. And they call me crazy.

Good post Crazyguy.
Many times in the past I had wished the impossible to happen, and Armageddon was just around the corner. We were in the last moment, giving a final witness, bible studies had to make a commitment or on to a more genuine study.....and while all this was going on the sisters in the congregation were being ridiculed and treated as second class citizens.
Well now I am waiting to end up in Gehenna, whilst enjoying my life

According to Quantum Theory and non-locality, two particles, can act in unity. For example, take A and B (photons or electrons for example). Pair them, then separate them, and put them on either side of the planet. Stimulate particle A, and particle B will react without any perceivable time delay.
In other words both particles act at the same moment in time regardless of distance. This is remarkable right, how can this be? We need to have a physical connection, we need to observe some kind of interconnecting frequency waveform or something! This also means we’ve got an interaction between particles happening way beyond the speed of light,
Let us now duplicate the above drama. Take two conscious entities—Supreme Father in heaven, and some “chosen ones” in the Writing Department in Brooklyn : Father gets a stimulation that He should transfer some vital information to the few in the Writing Department, and causes the same stimulation in the recipients and transfers the information. [This is very much possible as parties involved are much more than mere photons or electrons.] Yet, Writing Department made many mistakes! What would vouch for this unnatural outcome from this 'spirit-guided org'?

Quantum effects can not be compared to ANYTHING or have any effect in the MACRO world.
NONE.

But the observation that for some odd reason Jehovah God is able to determine the operation of every particle in the universe yet can't get the GB to write anything down that remains consistent and truthful is certainly true.

Answer could be: Either God did not use His spirit to guide the organization, or when He sent His spirit, WC did not listen at all because of their preconceived ideas - their own opinions, prejudices, conclusions - and these obviously became a barrier and prevented them from listening. After all, if one is to listen, one must be attentive. And there is no attention if one is occupied with one's own thoughts, conclusions, opinions, evaluations -then all communication ceases. Communication is not a one-sided affair. Both the parties must be in communion with each other in all aspects.

Science disproves JW claims

according to quantum theory and non-locality, two particles, can act in unity.

for example, take a and b (photons or electrons for example).

pair them, then separate them, and put them on either side of the planet.

it's interesting to me anyway to see what the bible says the timeline of mankind is in relation to reality.

abraham was born roughly 2000 bce .

let's think about this for a moment.

Who says the "Evil Slave" is hypothetical? We, The Dallas Theological Seminary, say so, that's who!

jesus asked, "who really is the faithful and discreet slave.." maybe he didn't know??

evidently, "the faithful slave", isn't just the governing body of the wtbts, feeding the many with their pudgy hands.

the dts, dallas theological seminary, must also make up the composite/singular fds.

we are all familiar with the story of the god jehovah saving jerusalem from the assyrians by sending and angel that killed 185000 soldier's.

well heradodus a 5 century bce historian related a story he heard from egyptian priests.

they told him that the god ptah sent rats into the camp of the assyrians which ate the bow strings of the troops and they then left in dismay, saving egypt.

have we noticed how witnesses just love to joke about other faiths and their strange teachings?.

eg, faiths such as mormons, and others that have odd beliefs .... but, witnesses don't seem to be able to apply the same analytical or critical thinking to their own wacky beliefs!.

"haha...mormons believe joseph smith got gold tablets fro the angel moroni haha".

just reading a news item on cnn about albinos being killed for their body parts.

"in some african countries, albinos' body parts are believed to bring wealth and good luck.

as a result, attackers chop off their limbs and pluck out organs, and sell them to witchdoctors."http://www.cnn.com/2016/04/30/africa/malawi-albinos-face-extinction/index.html.

the other day i was perusing on facebook and stumbled on a sponsored advertisement for ring home security.

the commercial was saying how you can monitor unwanted soliciting without answering the door.

anyway, the solicitors at the door were jw's offering the awake and watchtower.
