Interfaith work

Dear Readers,

Even as atheist, I feel it's important to engage in interfaith work. Atheists cannot bring about social justice all by themselves. Now there are religions that don't engage in interfaith work. Jehovah's Witnesses don't engage in politics, and especially not interfaith work because it might give some "legitimacy" to the idea that there is more than one path to "truth". Even reading about other religions or things about JW's not written by the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society is an excommunicable offense. Talk about being biased, huh? Jehovah's Witnesses are highly intolerant towards other  members of other religions as are Orthodox Mormons, but that's okay in their eyes, because they are "only doing what God wants" and if you criticize them over anything, they usually will say something that sounds like this: " Stop it. Stop persecuting God's faithful servants". I hear it all the time and it really can be annoying. I think Christians have to worry about being persecuted by other Christians than they do atheists, Muslims or Hindus. Well, as an atheistic cultural Jew, I don't believe any religion is "true" obviously, but I support religious freedom of course.  I think the secular community can work with liberal religious groups to bring about positive changes in society.
Think about it.

Sincerely,

B.W.
