Russia isn't just targeting the Dubs. As we've discussed several times on this site, Vlad and his Impalers have been systematically developing national laws and regulations, especially since the events of 9/11, to address any group that doesn't fit with Vlad's view of what Mother Russia should embrace.
Some of it seems a bit reactionary and designed to control non-Russian external groups coming into Russia since the Cold War ended. Some of it is rational, as Vlad seeks to avoid contaminating influences by outside groups, whether they are religious or not, and including Islam and non-religious entities.
And some of it designed to control groups already within Russia, especially Islam, from what he and the Impalers view is a contaminating influence. Russia has begun to paint with a broad brush regarding issues of interest to the state and issues of interest to the individual and the group.
If Europe and other countries would begin embracing and implementing similar legislation, albeit a bit more tolerant and less purely nationalistic, it would very likely place needed controls on all religions, including the Dubs, Islam and anyone else causing potential harm to a nation/state.
Dfing, teaching that your religion is right and all others are wrong, honor killings, forced wearing of head scarves, jihads, fatwas, discouraging voting or engagement in political processes and teaching End of Time nonsense relative to all those not in 'your' religion, including the governments and political institutions, are going to soon be destroyed are included in Vlad's regulatory guidelines. That places the Dark Lords squarely in Vlad's sights. And that is a very good thing.
I see this as a good thing to reel in religion's vile influence, in the long run. In the short run???

Go Russia!!!
Before anyone roasts me for "religious discrimination", let's get some facts straight.
1) JWism is a cult.
2) The Jehovist Leaders are extremists and extremely disrespectful to the Superior Authorities.
3) Jehovist leaders cover up pedophilia to protect their image/brand.
The Organization/WTBTS deserves zero respect and zero sympathy, they will recieve neither from me. If they are "banned", it will mean nothing. The Jehovists can stil believe in their Neo-Zionist/Communist utopia at home. They can still meet together to recite the GB's latest speculations at home. They can have conventions at home if they believe it so much. They can set up a contribution box at home. They can find a way to watch their televangelist propaganda AT HOME...
Nothing will be affected except the WTBTS's "worldly" business practices/Real Estate holdings. They will still be an extremist cult with dwindling numbers that places the majority of its "preaching" efforts on retaining the current congregants.
Why is the "one true religion" worried about commercial property?

Is Russia the "king of the North" of "the South?" Or is it North Korea? I forget.....is it Iran? They flipped so many times. I guess it changes as the world changes....It depends on who is "touching the eyeball" or could touch the eyeball at the current time. I'm sure that this will ratchet up the persecution complex.

If the Dubs, Islam, Pussy Riot or any other entity wishes to operate in Mother Russia, they will play by Vlad's rules. The laws and regulations have been written so that they can broadly interpret anything they believe is counter to Russian objectives. The Dubs can stay in Russia, but they will have to leave behind all of what makes them unique. It will be interesting to see how the Dark Lords respond. They will likely flail about like victims for a while, but in the end if they want to operate in Russia they will have to get rid of all literature and all teachings that espouses the stuff I mentioned above. The Dark Lords will either comply or leave Russia, and that is most excellent.
And Vlad and his Impalers WILL be watching.
My $ is on the Impalers. And if ISIS or some other Islamic group gets their hands on a nuclear weapon or otherwise manages to inflict massive casualties in the W world, I fully expect Vlad-like laws and regulations to be imposed on all religions. That will be the game changer.
Of course, Vlad has built somewhat of a wall around the Russian Orthodox Church, which he views in part as a relic of Mother Russia and in part that it serves his needs for influence ($, social, political).

I'm not sure how I feel about this. It will almost certainly not free any of those in russia that are currently mentally enslaved to this cult (indeed it will probably cause them to double down in their commitment), but it may well help prevent future victimization from taking place. This also has me wondering how truthful the cult's frequent line that when under ban they often have more growth than in countries where they're free to practice. That seems feasible because it would require even more deceptive recruitment tactics, as opposed to the slightly more up-front (though still far from honest) recruiting in other countries. But it seems most things that the cult says is either a lie or wildly deceptive, I'm not so sure.
I wonder if something else might be more effective - instead of banning "extremist" groups (which is something that can be somewhat subjective to define, and will always be debated by such groups) they should ban any groups that push for deceptive recruiting tactics and do not provide full disclosure to prospective members up-front. This would be reasonably easy to demonstrate to be the case with JWs and a statement saying that you're banning a group because they use deceptive recruiting tactics and have refused to be up-front in recruiting after being given a warning sends a very different message. They can no longer claim persecution as effectively (especially if documented evidence of said deceptive recruiting is provided to the public) because they're being punished for what is essentially fraud. It would also do a lot to warn the public away from them - being banned because you're extremist can be read as being banned because you really believe in your cause which some see as a virtue. Being banned because you deceive people into joining your group has no up side to it.
It might be harder to implement something like that, though, in a legal setting. But it would probably still cover everyone that they want to target - extremist groups and cults all use deceptive recruiting.

So is the government attacking only the WTS or all religions except the Russian Orthodox Church that has worked with the government to get rid of competition, communism and post communism.

DJS
DJS an hour ago

Blondie,
As I mentioned, this is a systematic strategy Vlad is employing. In 2012 the NGO (non-government org) law was passed that was aimed at foreign funded/sources NGOs involved in political actions. That law was capable of being viewed broadly by the courts and could have included the Dark Tower, Islam, etc.
In 2015 Russia passed an update to the 2012 NGO law that very broadly could be applied to any organization deemed to be undesirable. As written and applied, the new law can apply to anyone the courts - or Vlad - finds undesirable, and the parameters by which they are deemed undesirable are also very broad and interpretive. As intended.
I don't know for certain, but I doubt the Dark Tower rates even a passing thought to Vlad.

I was saying that there has been a strong supportive relationship between the communists and the Russian Orthodox Church since 1989, hand in hand they want to eliminate competition. Whatever "legal" means they use, the goal and desire is the same. I am not disagreeing, just showing it is a continuing goal.

I for one do not believe in the banning of any religion no matter how bad it is. It's the slippery slope situation where anyone who is not in favor with the State gets banned.

I have looked around and I don't see this covered, so I am starting a thread.
1) The new "Blood Card" goes beyond being just a "Blood Card".
2) A new edict concerning compliance.
Pay attention to the changes.
First, the new card is termed "ADVANCE DECISION TO REFUSE SPECIFIED MEDICAL TREATMENT"
The big change with the card itself is that it includes an 'override' of your "Power of Attorney". This is huge.
The new card also includes a DNR, thus borrowing from legislation in several countries that set law for any written instructions that are attached to it. To add legal force to the "Advance Directive" (as it is called under law) they attach a "RIDER" concerning your death wish hoping to add legitimacy to the 'directive' concerning blood. They are borrowing legal precedent from "DNRs" and attaching it to the refusal for blood.
What might be termed as even a bigger thing is that the letter to the bodies of elders states that every baptized publisher will be handed one after the meeting and they must provide a copy of their filled out card for the body of elders and for the witnesses who sign it!
Push has finally come to shove. All the 'apostates' who know the TTATT will have to refuse. The evil eye will fall upon all those who do not show their strict obedience to the slave.
If you are in a position that you must comply for the sake of family, then you will have to go straight to your lawyer (and your doctor afterwards) and make a written statement superseding it. It would be good to demonstrate, within the context of this 'ultimate sworn declaration' with your lawyer, that you were forced to fill out the 'Watchtower's card' under duress.
It would be good to have a copy of the letter to the bodies of elders where the new edict appears. It will soon be put up on the web in more places for availability. It would also be good to record the meeting where the card is released, audio at least, video if possible. Thus it can be established that you had little choice, being put in the position of being divorced from your family.

When is this supposed to happen?
If this pans out, I guess they're not backing away from the blood ban after all. They'd gone a while without talking about it much (though recently they did have an article in the WT study that went into it again, but that was the first thing in a while) so it seemed like they might have been trying to ease off on this embarrassing policy. I wonder if their doubling down comes from not wanting to appear to be capitulating to their critics or from the realization that having people quite literally sign away their life in loyalty to the org is a powerful tool for creating CD and controlling people.

Yeah, I thought so too - I remember the days everyone would be scurrying about in the back of the hall to get a witness to their signature and all that. I think the last time that happened was in the 90s like you said.

Yes, I would like to see more details and which countries this affects. He is making it sound like a "one size fits all" document but with varying laws in different countries, it just does not sound reasonable based on the information presented.

LOL I remember back when the UN thing was all coming out. LOL again.
My wife found it on Facebook. Apparently it was released in the UK last week.
Coming here to North America next week.
My wife downloaded the BOE Letter and I have found places where the card has been put up on the web.
It takes a few days to get going, but it get's going.
We, or somebody, will put up the letter later.

The last "Medical Directive" card that I recieved was expected to be signed in front of a witness. I don't see a big change here. Most dubs will probably get in a tizzy about getting it done quickly, nothing new. The stragglers will be hounded or forgotten about, nothing new.
If I'm asked about it, I will say, "I'm doing research about whether or not donated/stored blood from worldly people or animal blood is used in "alternative" products. I won't be signing anything until I'm finished."

I find it hard to believe that the WTS will put anything in writing on these healthcare choice documents that compels a jw to make a certain choice. Put it behind the scenes more likely. jws don't know what the meaning is a the medical choices, many just blindly do what they are told verbally by elders, COs, etc.

I'm sure the letter doesn't say "make sure every publisher signs it or they're DFed" - it'll say that they've made "provisions" for people to keep their card on file with the elders, and are encouraged to do so. We all know what it means, though. The elders will be "encouraged" to verify that they have something on file for every publisher to make sure that the publisher was aware of this provision (wouldn't want them to miss out just because they didn't know about this loving arrangement!) but what it really means is that they're supposed to hound everyone until they've all signed away their lives and have it on file. When they put coercion in writing, they do it subtly and in a way that they can claim it means something else.

I think this is designed to relieve them of being sued by family after the victim dies. People who know ttatt and apostates that still have to go can just sign all the bull crap then throw thier card away. And for lurkers and newbies in the 2006 KM which they site It's allowed to use a product called Hemopure which is cows blood. Also there roughly 1 million white blood cells in a single drop of human breast milk, so one can easily reason if this is the case does the creator really not want us to eat blood? One last question is blood is a sacred to God then why did he create a plethora of animals that's only source of food is blood?
And for bible believers please read Mark 7:18-19

This may have a 2 prong purpose....
Many jws do not get a form, or don't fill it out...I have known of many jws that are being wheeled into ER saying no blood, no blood, who have not filled out a form, giving the elders a huge headache.
Second many jws found it hard to understand the other form, too medical. So could not explain what they wanted to the doctors.
I can see that the WTS has adjusted it for legal language and events that need to hide behind.

It sounds kinda like the card we've been using in Oregon for years. I got rid of mine a few years back but I'm pretty sure it had a DNR attached with it. I remember being told our card had to be different from everyone else's because of Oregon laws. Anyone else from Oregon remember this?

according to this verse, acting with “high-handedness” and “speaking abusively of jehovah’s word” constitute disfellowshipping offence.

1) “high-handedness” is something that jws themselves silently experience from jb, hence require no witness or proof.

Not Mansfield U K , but Mansfield in U S A - it doesn't look much, does it? In fact even the uber dubs on J W Talk are not impressed (that must be a first!)
This thread of theirs is publicly readable:

Maybe the plan is to make it look like CVS/Walgreens/etc so it will be easier to flip later. Hey, but at least it has windows, so nobody can complain about that. All I can say is ugly. But perhaps that is appropriate and fits in with the rest of the American big box, strip mall architecture style.

I like this comment on their site, "I suspect this will make resell much easier and maybe get a higher price out of the sell". I thought the end was coming any day now; deep, deep, deep in these last days; just around the corner, on the threshold of the new system! Why resell? Blind!!!

This comment made me laugh

Change is always difficult to get used to.
The elders had a special meeting when the new design was introduced and they had the brothers on the design commitee talk about it. I remember one brother saying he was VERY MUCH against the commercial design, even as late as the meeting where they had to come to a final decision. But he said that after they prayed together as a body and discussed it it became evident this was the direction Jehovahs spirit was leading them.
I continue to think about what a humble attitude this brother displayed.
Change can be difficult but Jehovahs spirit keeps moving his organization in the direction that will be most beneficial for all.

What a joke !!

Seems to me like they all want to say what they REALLY think... it's horrid, it's ugly, can't believe anybody designed this, it looks like a factory, it looks like a warehouse'.... but they're all afraid to say it. Anyone who dares say it, covers it with a 'oh but I'm sure it'll look lovely when it's finished, jehovah's behind it all so let's support the organisation'. At least one had enough guts to stick the Walmart sign on... lol

I like this comment on their site, "I suspect this will make resell much easier and maybe get a higher price out of the sell".
From all the comments, they all seem to be fully aware of the WT's new function as build and resell- at-profit property developers. They are under no illusions but they don't care!!
The comment about it being the right shape to " float in a flood" made me laugh though!!!!

That forum is unbelievable! Are these real people? Typical for the Wits to be chastising each other for questioning whether or not the building is appealing (personal choice). If the same conversation took place on this board it would go like this:
A. I think this building is ugly.
B. Watch yourself, you're not agreeing with the brothers.

We have a new hall going up in our area with the new design. They just finished with the outside and are installing the dry wall. Looks to hold about 180. The photo makes it look much bigger than in person. Of course it is being built in a mixed use zoned area. So resale will be easy in a few years.

I've worked in real estate. They'll be doing well if they can sell that thing for what it cost to build. It has no appeal whatsoever, it will go for a low price because anybody who can afford something nicer won't buy it. If you're in business, you want a building that will make people want to come in. Business like CVS would probably build something to their own design. And if it sells a year from now, everybody in town is going to call "the old Kingdom Hall."

I received pictures from an old friend of a relatively new KH in the USA northeast and it doesn't look as bad as that. They must have changed the design even more than a two years ago.
Love how the witnesses on that site can't even speak their mind about how they personally feel about the design of a KH. Seriously? That is so sad. And if you asked any of them in person they would only admit to maybe not liking it at first but now they looooove it.

It looks like an above-ground basement.

But he said that after they prayed together as a body and discussed it it became evident this was the direction Jehovahs spirit was leading them.
Evidently, Bronze Age desert gods are impressed by painted concrete blocky structures and flat roofs. I wonder if the walls go up high enough to serve as a parapet as required by the Mosaic Law.

Apparently, you can convince JW's to like anything the FDS tells them to...just ask "Brother Bob." And will somebody tell the commenters on JWTalk to stop using the word "homely" to describe KH's they like (which means "plain and ugly.") Oh, wait...maybe that IS what they mean...

What this looks like is one of those abandoned suburban buildings that fundy churches get cheaply, and meet there until they can build their own building that actually looks like a place of worship.
The GB has decided they can speed up the process! Instead of waiting for Bob's Tire Ranch to go out of business, they will build it, use it for 'worship' and sell it off!
Truly, Jehovah's chariot is moving fast!
How glad we can be that we are part of his universal (as in, our buildings can be used for anything) organization!

After working a redonkulously long number of hours exercising my fingers and brain, I decided to take a nice walk--you know, to be healthy.
I walked to the drug store to get something for my staff--you know, 'cause I'm cool like that.
Walgreens forced me to walk down the seasonal aisle, against my will, and purchase 90% off Easter candy, using its secret weapon (psychology).
As I made my way home on my healthy walk, I was forced to eat what may be in the top 10 of the worst Easter candy ever made in the entire multiverse since the beginning of time (and by that, I mean 7001 years ago).
The first one had a layer of pink flavored goo topped with white Crayolas mixed with sugar. Not satisfying.
So obviously I had to have another one to satisfy myself, under extreme duress. Blue topping and Crayola. hmmm, Boo-Berry. Worst berry flavor ever.
Green. No. Just no. Fake mint when my taste buds are expecting lime is just mean. It was like Listerine, a crayon, and a cup of corn syrup, all in the same mouthful.
Purple. I think there was a generic grape soda in the 1970s that tasted similar, when warm, flat and eaten with a crayon.
My tongue started to tingle and I thought it was swelling up a little.
.
.
.

So of course I had another one immediately. Anaphylaxis is for wusses.
Lemon. Jackpot! It tasted like lemon with a bag of sugar and a crayon.
When I was a teenaged jw, I found out that stores sell holiday candy at clearance prices, and WE WERE ALLOWED TO HAVE THEM. That's right! If you have it on Easter day or before--->Satan is happy. If you have it the day after--->you get a sugar high while believing the candy tastes better than it really does, chasing the satisfaction of something taboo.

Ok l do not know Walgreens but l do like the sound of any institution that forces you to walk past sweets with 90% off .
I had a conversation with a couple of young male JWs the other day and we talked about Easter , having said that they don't celebrate because of chocolate eggs and bunnies etc one admitted that he buys Easter eggs after Easter when they are cheap . The hypocrisy of this was clearly lost on him .

there are many things to question about the intelligence of the designs emanating from the yhwh/jesus intelligent design studio.. lauren reid, a phd candidate at durham university, writing in 'the conversation,' takes a look at why humans and spider monkeys are the only primates without a bone in their penises.

most mammals have such a bone, which is called a baculum .

humans don't, in spite of the term 'boner,' being in common usage, though whales, horses, rhinos, rabbits, elephants, marsupials and hyenas, were also designed without such a bone.. how does a baculum work?

there are stories that cannot be written and shouldn't be told because the truth of those stories cannot be embraced on first hearing.

As I reported here in this forum, some time ago, my sister was constantly harried by two elders so as to be submitted to a judiciary committee for apostasy. These two elders were constantly hounding her in the street when she walks to go to her job. So she had to send them a notary letter in which she wrote that she would attend the judiciary committee only with her attorney. After that, the elders stopped their actions, until now. Since two years ago she does not attend the meetings. However, today my sister called me, and she said that early in the morning, while going to work, suddenly in the street (again), the two same elders approached her and gave her a brochure ( she did not tell me which one), but my sister told them that she was very hurry, nevertheless, they told her that they are wanting her for attending a judiciary committee for the next Monday. She left them after saying that she wouldn't go. So, these stupid guys are striking back. I have told to my sister that she must report to the police that these two elders are stalking her.

May be the elders are now following new instructions coming from Bethel so as to hound "apostates" in the street.

This gives the lie to Geoffrey Jacksons' assertion during the ARC that Jehovah's Witnesses are free to leave the religion without harassment whenever they wish - that elders are not " policemen" to chase them down!!

I think those elders are taking the case of your sister personally and want to give her the inquisition style treatment that they can't have elsewhere but in the KH.

They really have no authority
Tell them to present their evidence otherwise she will get a lawyer involved for harassment.
If she really does not want the JC to go ahead I would even get a legal letter sent to them.

I agree with Hecce. She should speak with her lawyer and the police. If she wants to write a letter, have her lawyer do it. That way it's on file and if they continue, a case for harassment and possibly stalking can be pursued.

I have told to my sister that she must report to the police that these two elders are stalking her.
If she goes to the police they will simply give her a restraining order document to fill out at home and take it to a judge. That could prevent the elders from coming within 100 yards of her.

Thanks for the advice....indeed, these things are happening because my sister lives in South America (I don't want to tell which country), where the police despises these actions. However, she must do something with her attorney.
If she were in US, where the LAW works better, the advice of "Village Idiot" would work.

If she were in US, where the LAW works better, the advice of "Village Idiot" would work.
In the US, the Gov't is not going to do anything about the inter-workings of a religion unless they start sacrificing virgins (which are very difficult to find these days). She would just get DFd in absentia. Which is likely the same thing that will happen if she refuses to appear before the JC now that she has been summoned.
Let's review: It's a cult! (In remembrance of Oubliette)

If they have 'evidence' of apostasy, then any restraining orders, contacting the police, lawyer's letters etc will only confirm their view and she will probably be df'd in her absence.
If they are convening a committee and she's desperate not to get df'd then the only realistic option is to attend, deny everything and be 'spiritually weak'.

kairos
kairos 9 hours ago

If I really wanted to avoid being DF'd for apostasy it would have been a lot of work and time spent for what, in the end?
They were already shunning me and I was absolutely sure that I would NEVER go back to the KH for any reason.
I should have DA'd three years ago when I first learned TTATT.
---
If your sister can come to terms with this reality, I think she should consider ignoring them completely and let them do what they do or simply hand them an "F. U. letter", I mean formal disassociation.
Then she can have true peace and freedom.
The pain of shunning is pretty bad, however.
I'm at the anger stage. Angry that the policy still exists.

It's all so ridiculous. They are making it about loyalty.
Ultimately a loyalty oath to the GB.

Our elders wanted a dissociation letter off us, 2 years after we stopped going.
I politely and calmly told them that if any one brother was willing to get on the platform and mention our names in any way, shape, or form, that I would be contacting my solicitor, and suing that particular brother for broadcasting our personal names in a public place without my written consent.
(uk right to privacy act includes any private information not to be disclosed without express consent unless it is deemed a public interest, ie government bodies. Think the human rights act is similar) ref: https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/law-and-rights/civil-rights/human-rights/what-rights-are-protected-under-the-human-rights-act/your-right-to-respect-for-private-and-family-life/
Its worth mentioning that it would be hard to prove a whole body of elders was complicit in making such an announcement, not to mention time consuming. One elder is easier to target in the instance of a public announcement being made. It also serves to put the elder off from doing so. It makes him think twice.
What the elders want from you is some type of closure. They hate loose ends, because it makes them appear powerless. By going down this route, you have stopped them trying to collect info on, stalking, asking other people about you etc, because they know its a waste of time.
It worked for us, not a peep for 7 years so far.

Sounds very strange in my ears; in my congregation, some 7-8 have faded during the last 3-4 years, and they are neither hounded nor are their names mentioned from the platform re. disassosiation.
Different places, different practises.

dozy
dozy 7 hours ago

yeah - it does seem to vary widely from congregation to congregation. A lot depends on the attitude of the elders - most are pretty lazy or are too busy with more pressing congregation problems to be bothered , but some seem to get the "bit between their teeth" and actively go after faders.
A few years ago when I was an elder in our congregation we had a "fader" who a sister constantly was complaining should have been DFd as he had taken to living with a "worldly girlfriend". Eventually we decided to send a couple of elders to check him out. He basically told them that his life was none of their business and told them to get lost. This left us with a bit of a dilemna and we decided after a majority vote not to take any further action , though three of the elders felt it should go to a JC & he should be officially kicked out. Under other circumstances he could easily have been DFd - just the luck of the draw , really.
The only thing I would say is that the longer the fade , the less likely someone will be DFd , though there is no hard & fast WTBTS rule about a "statute of limitations".

Sounds like those two elders need a swift kick to the balls, then she can start shouting "These men are trying to molest me!" As the elders retreat in pain and embarrassment.

opusdei1972
opusdei1972 6 hours ago

My sister has told me that one of the elders shouted her in the street so as to ensure that she must go to the judiciary meeting the next Monday. So she will report this fact to the police.
My sister wants to live in peace, but she does not want to give any letter of disassociation. She is also thinking that she should also propagate this fact to the media. There is a local Radio where one can report publicly any grievance. May be she could also write a letter to some Journal so as to expose this case.

Simply quote the words used by Jackson and O'Brien during the Aust Royal Commision as already posted in this thread!
They went on record to say that no one is harassed, or policed for choosing to fade!

Terry

The Elders usually take a page out of the lazy lawman's guide to getting the Perp to rat on himself.
By sitting an accused person down and pressuring them to unburden, the Elder provokes the hapless publisher to give up details, loose ends, tidbits, fodder for further investigation. Additionally, by bullying, taunting and deliberately making faluse accusations, the Elders hope to provoke a statement of insult and rebellion, insubordination and self-admission of disaffection to the Organization.
"I have no comment on that" and "I have a right to my own peace of mind which you are disturbing with your uninvited requests. Please desist" might be two things she'd want to practice saying:smile:

She hasn't attended any meetings for two years and these asshole elders are harassing her. ??
What a bunch of power tripping idiots.
It would make sense if she was still attending meetings subjectively acting like a JWS and being openly opposing to doctrines ???
Why doesn't she just say she's out of that religion period so she doesn't want to go to any JC or whatever .
These constraint assholes are pushing the boundaries too far too much, in my opinion.
The point being is that she doesn't have to do dam thing, she doesn't have to play by their rules or their laws.

In Los Angeles after showing the judge video of elders standing in the dark at my entry waiting for me to come home at night and entering my garage as I pulled my vehicle in, I was granted permanent restraining orders against each elder individually and any "third party" related to the "congregation" and "organization of Jehovah's Witnesses"
Through video evidence once again, I was able to bring violation charges through the city attorney's office upon two separate individuals. While the penalty for them was light, 10 days community service, it sent a clear message and I have not had any issues for several years with local JWs. It also elevated the matter from civil to criminal and that seems to have put the elders in check.
It really depends on the lengths you want to go through to use the law in your location and how obstinate the JWs will be.
Be careful about using the "suicidal depression" tactic. If you have children or are going through a nasty divorce it will most certainly be used against you in court.

“The soul that does something deliberately [footnote says “with uplifted hand”] whether he is native or an alien resident, he speaking abusively of Jehovah’s word, in that case that soul should be cut off from among his people.” (Numbers 15:30)
According to this verse, acting with “high-handedness” and “speaking abusively of Jehovah’s word” constitute disfellowshipping offence.
1) “High-handedness” is something that JWs themselves silently experience from JB, hence require no witness or proof.
2) Projecting Jehovah as a beggar by profusely applying Proverb 27:11 to Him, and presenting Jehovah as trying to please Satan endlessly to win the (imaginary) Issue of Universal Sovereignty, GB is also “speaking abusively of Jehovah’s word.” Interestingly, Issue of Universal Sovereignty never figured in Jesus’ teachings. If such an issue really did exist, Jesus would have used all his superhuman skills to present that teaching to the world with paramount importance!!!
3) By teaching that God Almighty felt ‘challenged and taunted’ by one of His own creatures is “sinning against holy spirit” which according to Jesus is an unforgivable sin in this system of things and in that to come. (Mathew 12:32)

NEW BLOOD CARD w/ FORCED COMPLIANCE also LEGALISM
by apocalypse in Watchtower Society / JW.org

i have looked around and i don't see this covered, so i am starting a thread.. 1) the new "blood card" goes beyond being just a "blood card".. 2) a new edict concerning compliance.. pay attention to the changes.. first, the new card is termed "advance decision to refuse specified medical treatment".

the big change with the card itself is that it includes an 'override' of your "power of attorney".

this is huge.

2016 Watchtower Cart Campaign Video.
.

This video does not seem to be listed on jw.org, so it may not be available to rank and file JWs.
.
Organizational Accomplishments-SAIL Amsterdam
.
Between minutes 1:05--1:10 of this video, the Watchtower plainly states that they are directing people to (jw.org) No mention of directing people to God's Kingdom, or to God or even Jesus Christ.
.
Between minutes 2:45--2:52 the statement is made that the demonstrations focus primarily on promoting (jw.org) Again, no mention of God's Kingdom or Jesus Christ.
.
It is pretty clear to see that (jw.org) has taken the drivers seat and God's Kingdom and Jesus Christ have been placed in the back seat.

Man would I love to ask a Jw at one of those apathy carts to define "the good news". I bet they can't do it. They would just dumbly say to go to Jw.org like the zombies they are.

Atlantis - "Between minutes 1:05--1:10 of this video, the Watchtower plainly states that they are directing people to (jw.org) No mention of directing people to God's Kingdom, or to God, or even Jesus Christ"
Well, it's official, now.
The Org is everything.

if I had a pound for every time they spout "go to the website" I'd have a fair few by now, if I also had a pound for every time I've said to them"I've been to the website and the information is not there" and have a few as well.

And they choose a country that has been jw-growth stagnant since at least 1998!
Look at these "juicy" stats contrasting 1998 and last year for the Netherlands:
Year Peak publishers Baptisms Memorial attendance
1998 31,915 742 52,584
2015 30,042 529 51,743.
Talk about the video beefing up a skinny carcass.
Edited to add: sorry about the lost formatting after this is posted. Ill try it later on a spreadsheet then post it.

Here are the stats for the Netherlands in a spreadsheet. For some reason even posting spreadsheets results in loss of formatting, but the numbers should be more readable.

The Watchtower is finally coming to grips with the fact that preaching door to door is an absolute colossal waste of time. Not only is it not effective, but it also exposes JWs to debates and criticism, possibly embarrassment.
This is much better for them, it further isolates them right under the nose of the public. They know that JWs will just stand like drones for hours next to the carts without engaging anybody. Money will still come in, hours will still be counted, and maybe some JWs who hate going door to door will be more wiling to stand on the street without talking to anybody, which means more hours.

I have seen the Amsterdam cart campain and the way it was organized. The JW involved, and there were many, were very internal focussed. Like robots they followed the instructions, with the famous "we are better than the world" marketing drive. There was no mention in the media about the campain.

Jan you have fortunately never been a witness and don't understand being TRAPPED at the most boring meeting you could ever, ever imagine, and the stupor that sets in while you sit there. And it's the same thing, week after week after week. There's no pursuing hobbies at times like that. There's not anything but the droning of voices and being stuck to your chair with a magazine in front of you with odd pictures to look at!

Jan, when you tell a joke (or in this case satire), you are supposed to tell the audience that you are about to tell a joke, or else about 1/2 of them will not know they are supposed to laugh because they will not realize that you just told them a joke.
Notice the next stand up comedian you see. He will start with something like: "I have to tell you about a FUNNY thing that happened to me the last time I was at . . . . . ."
Then he'll tell his "funny" story. Everyone laughs because they were alerted in advance that it would be "funny".
He'll even usually follow up with something like: "Wow! That was FUNNY wasn't it! . . . . . ."

i ran into an older sister who has always been very sweet.. it was a friendly chat...yet she pushed for a reason why my family have been missing from meetings for some time.

the question was deflected, until it just had to be said: "well, there have been some troubling and disturbing issues about the society especially the way things were handled during the royal commission, as well as many other issues".. she quickly cut in and said "but why would you want to know these things?

its best not to research and look at those sort of things - so we don't get upset!".

so at around the 46 min mark - the are talking to this guy from ukraine who was a zoologist.. he talks about how he was a staunch evolutionist (who wasn't able to prove evolution to himself, by the way).

then when he studied nature through the lens of evolution - he found that nature contradicted evolution.. his big point came when he said - "imagine emptying a box of letter blocks on a table, and the encyclopedia britannica appears, or could a computer program come by chance.

so who could dna come by chance.".

I think there would be a number of Elders who would not accept, but these are the ones that don't believe they are anointed as per the WT definition.
It takes a very delusional person to think that they have this 'special calling' above all other Christians and it is only them that could even be considered to be appointed a GB member.

I would be "a helper" if and only if my governing body "Magnificent 7" could be:
1. Judith Sheindlin (To sentence the old governing body to everlasting trolley work)
2. Angus Stewart (Sharp as a tack and a bit of thinking woman's crumpet for you girls)
3. Peter MacLellan (Iron fist in a velvet glove with a mind like a trap)
4. Barbara Anderson (Obviously)
5. Candace Conti (Well, also obviously)
6. Prince Philip
(gotta have one cantankerous old bastard with a bit of WW2 experience!)
7. Bear Grylls
(to oversee some decent outdoor fun for the kids and teenagers)

If I was a JW then, Yes. however, if I woke up from the JW mind control there'd be hell to pay.
If now, Yes.ONLY IF - I could give the other GB members grief. If I had the power to change the 2 witness rule, shunning and blood transfusions (to name my top 3 wbt$ hated things). Even if the corporation went bankrupt, it'd be fine.

Hi it has been a while since I posted. Sorry this is a rant.
To be honest I have been on a journey - nearly faded but I won't elaborate until I can.
I just watched April's broadcast.
Since when do we have "hollywood" style movie previews? Such fear mongering also!
I noticed a few things there are probably more:
◦They are talking about "looking forward" not behind. Look behind and you will die is the message - which is great for them because if people look back they will realise how false this thing is.
◦Shameless promotion to children about going to bethel. Honestly, let's now put pressure on all of the people you are fleecing and keeping poor to take their family to Bethel. The film looked like a advert to a fun park.
◦Song - will there ever be a song that praises God or Jesus (heaven forbid). They are all about praising themselves or some "lets do more" video. Let's keep the pace - honestly - how is this praise? Did David ever write about how great he was - nope his praise was not about cleaning up your bedroom but how great God is.

There are smarter people then me that will pick up all of the slight propaganda they use.
Thank you Fartful Slave - keep bringing the excrement for you show how shallow and "full of it" you are.
Ahh there - I feel better now.

I hope your journey has been a beautiful one.

Your post peaked my interest. I put my vomit bag beside my computer and clicked on play. Now I want to rant too!!!!!
The first sentence was "Look back to learn. Look ahead to live." Then he talked about Jehovah telling us from BEHIND on how to walk....God almighty! You can tell how God isn't telling them how to walk, because the JW's are walking in a zig-zag direction. They don't know where to hell they are going! The end is here...no it's not...yes it is...this generation, no that generation. Give me a break!
Then they talk about only looking back to learn from past mistakes. God almighty! If we look back with eyes of reason, we realize we were duped!!!!!
"No one can deceive Jehovah" I want to scream out "Dumb-nuts listen to what you are saying....jerk!!!!'
I am with you about the video. I could have sworn I was looking at a Hallmark movie trailer. I have nothing against TV, but why are they spending all that cash on movie productions when they could be spending it assist the needy and infirmed? What about all those Bethelites that were booted out, without anything but a handshake? Even wordy companies give a stipend of some sort.... "Be warm and well fed" It's all about worshiping the cult. Where is the love??????

They're hoping to get more awards, even if they have to pay for them. Not only that, they couldn't possibly think of putting Caleb and Sophie out of a job.

NEW BLOOD CARD w/ FORCED COMPLIANCE also LEGALISM
by apocalypse in Watchtower Society / JW.org
 » Beliefs, Doctrine & Practices

i have looked around and i don't see this covered, so i am starting a thread..

According to the Bible, GB is committing an unforgivable sin
by elbib in Watchtower Society / JW.org

“the soul that does something deliberately [footnote says “with uplifted hand”] whether he is native or an alien resident, he speaking abusively of jehovah’s word, in that case that soul should be cut off from among his people.” (numbers 15:30).

according to this verse, acting with “high-handedness” and “speaking abusively of jehovah’s word” constitute disfellowshipping offence.

1) “high-handedness” is something that jws themselves silently experience from jb, hence require no witness or proof.

off course you need to think back to when you were a jw to answer this question honestly and properly.but hypothetically if you had the spirituality and knowledge and was approached to be appointed as a gb member would you have taken on the position?and if you did what changes would you recommend ?.

this was a comment i made from another post, but i would like to hear some people discuss this.

i know the social justice warriors will scream i'm some sort of trump supporter for what i say even though i don't agree with his ideas and no i am not voting for him... i accept this is a go to for them.. i think we have fallen into a pc vacuum.. criticizing someones religion = racism!.

telling someone to not be so sensitive = misogyny!.

Military service in Mexico and party affiliation in Malawi... Any letters from BOE?
by Billzfan23 in Watchtower Society / JW.org
 » Beliefs, Doctrine & Practices
does anyone have a copy of a letter to the boe in mexico or malawi from the 80's/90's - (it can be in spanish or some other language) from back in those days regarding organizational policy and direction?

of course the cult teaches that it's a sin to be involved in politics and the military.

in mexico - every young man was expected to complete a year of military service.
