At least one of them knows that it is a man-made tale used to cover up another man-made tale that so many have fallen for.

Round table conference>> Morris "Ok brothers let's give thanks to Jehovah".
Snickering from a few of the GB members.
Morris: Ok Jackson what's so funny?
Jackson: Are you serious, Jehovah don't give a shit what we do.
Herd: Excuse you.
Lett: Hell I have a program, don't start that crap again Jackson. You screwed up
in Australia you dumb ass.
Sanderson: OK Brothers lets take it easy.
Morris: Who the hell are you.
Splane thinking: Man if the r&f could see us now.
Losch: Are we setting a date for the end times today, Jesus Christ let's get on with it.
I haven't taken my meds yet.
Morris: Did anyone take their meds this morning.
Everyone head for the door.
Just think this guys are making major decisions without their medication.
How did Morris know the Brothers didn't take their meds, Herd jumped up on
the table and pull his pants down and showed his ass.

Yes well thats another thought considering the average age of the GB.What type of meds are they taking. Can the meds affect decision making.

Yes, I would love to see the GB take a insanity test. Questions from the test,
do you think that you are immortal? Have you ever had a meaningful conversation with a
inanimate object? Do you consider everybody except JW's as evil?
Do you believe God only speak to you?

There is no bible backing for this idea and it is interesting to note how Splane tries to overcome this problem. In his 2015 JW Broadcasting monthly broadcast he says
Now if you were asked by someone to identify a scripture that tells us what a generation is, what scripture would you turn to? I'll give you a moment to think about that. My choice is Exodus Chapter 1 verse 6 "Joseph eventually dies and also all his brothers and all that generation"
Note that he takes it for granted that the listener accepts this new concept but then invites them to try and find a scripture themselves that backs it up. Basically what's happening here is that the concept must be accepted and a search in the scriptures is required to support it. This itself is a backwards way of thinking when you profess to use the bible as a basis of your teachings, letting the bible interpret itself. Rather what they have done is come up with the idea and manipulated what the bible is saying to fit that teaching.
Then he tells us that 'his choice' is Exodus 1:6 and proceeds to try to make it fit to the idea. He's a GB member that supposedly collaborated with the other members to come up with this interpretation (or at the very least, supported the majority vote in accepting it) and yet when it comes to supporting it with scripture, he uses a text which is his own choice.
The bottom line is, the r&f must accept the idea but they are allowed to come up with or twist any scripture of their choice to make it fit. Brilliant, especially when there is no such scripture.

As there are people who are still alive who were alive in 1914 I dont know why they need an overlapping generation idea. As they do need this idea I can only think that they know the end isn't that close and changes take time so maybe they are doing their best to make changes which seem big but not as big as where they need to get to and so are just doing their job trying to protect peoples faith while correcting the past.

I don't believe for a moment any of them believe their bullshit. Certainly if GJ really believed or had faith in the fact that he was one of Jokehovah's chosen he wouldn't have hesitated confirming it to the ARC. After all, if you firmly believe or have faith that you are one of Dog's chosen, why would you be afraid to answer to the affirmative before mere mortals when you have the Alpha and Omega on your side? Then you have Tight Pants Tony going on about .... tight pants. Even the political in fighting during Franz's tenure proves it's a man made power game. Yes folks, it's all about the power. complete, unadulterated megalomania.

I don't believe for a moment any of them believe their bullshit.
I've only met one of the present members of the GB, but had met and had discussions with a couple who have since died. I feel that they were definitely sincere in their beliefs and what they were doing and the "role" they had been "assigned".
Is it possible that they are/were that delusional? Yes.
I base that on the fact that I, too, was that delusional for many, many years.
I admit though that at least a few of them now must be wondering why their magic Holy Spirit communication system is failing them so badly. Isn't is obvious to all of us, and hopefully some who are still "in", that the GB has painted them selves into a corner and there is no good way out. They would probably like to dig up F Franz and choke him since he is said to be responsible for all these pearls of wisdom about the generation and the End Times failed forecast, etc etc.
Now the GB 2.0 is left holding the bag looking like dumbasses and trying to find their way out without getting wet paint on their feet.

An Analogy I think of is when you get an invitation to go get a nice gift, but you have to listen to a timeshare pitch. You say to your partner, were only here to get the free gift, but as you listen to the BS, you get sucked into the half truths they are spouting and buy into the timeshare. Later on, you wake up and realize you've been had. Good thing they give you a 3 day recension period to back out.

Too funny outlaw!!
If they didn't believe it, they likely would not keep hammering or doubling down on control. They are afraid to loose what they have. If you had everyone else telling you were the King of Saipan, over time you'd likely believe it as well.
Delusion goes multiple directions.

It is my contention that JW children are intellectually abused by being brainwashed to not have the choice of pursuing higher education. So, how do we help these victims? Would a JW/EXJW offer some help? If so, how do we get one set up?

While it's a lovely idea Luther, I would think it would make more sense to attack the anti-education policy of the org. We need a cure not a medicine for just the symptom. Maybe you can look into charities that are already working in this field and get some advice from them. Maybe a complaint to the child protection services or a petition? There's more accomplished by making the community aware of what it means to be a JW child. Or maybe you can look into government funding for some kind of foundation charity to help these kids?

I would love to see this happen! I don't see how this can happen realistically. Most JWs and exJWs are not exactly wealthy, and many even lean toward poverty's edge.
It has always been a dream of mine to win it big and hit the lottery jackpot so I could set up a recurring full ride scholarship for ex-JWs and one for current JWs. I realize its just a dream, but its one I still hold on to.
Tight Pants Tony is correct about one thing, Pursuing higher education will make you want to leave the org. It's amazing what a little education can do! Like the public service commercial says ... the more you know!

I ran into an older sister who has always been very sweet.
It was a friendly chat...yet she pushed for a reason why my family have been missing from meetings for some time. The question was deflected, until it just had to be said: "Well, there have been some troubling and disturbing issues about the society especially the way things were handled during the Royal Commission, as well as many other issues".
She quickly cut in and said "But why would you want to know these things? Its best not to research and look at those sort of things - so we don't get upset!"
It struck me how the average witness lives in ignorance...WILLFUL ignorance....

Wilful ignorance and spirituality the strength and depth of Kleenex.
This is a person who has never discussed with anyone any cause, situation or art or background or profession out of their own thinking at all without instantly making a run for the wt box of quotes. Sadly, due to respect due to age they have influenced others to be as superficial.
So she pushed for a reason (in other words was nosy) and when she got it ran like the wind. Now she has something to tell the others and then further reflect on what the gb has said.

I cannot explain or even comprehend how anyone with the internet can refuse to be educated.
I remember a short time ago someone suggested, when running into an active JW, to ask: "are you still a JW?"
When they say, "Of course!"
Our response would then be: "Don't you have the internet?"

I feel like a fool for avoiding research for so long.

So awkward when you meet kindly older ones who, at this point in their life, it wouldn't be that productive for them to leave ...exception to that being of course informing them about the ARC , as you did, cos the kids safety trumps even their needs as lonely old folk.
We have to keep telling them though, cos when the crap hits the fan, and it WILL, they will all turn around and say " BUT WHY DID NOBODY TELL US ABOUT ALL THIS!!"

That's how my first conversation with my only friend still in the org went (I posted about it the other week). When I told her my concerns with the society and the ARC, she hadn't heard about it and told me "ignorance is bliss; don't do too much research or you'll get overwhelmed."
I was so crushed when she told me that. however, it was nothing compared to the joy I felt when she told me that she had been researching the ARC and was getting upset at the society.
This person may be very elderly, but you never know what seed you could've planted. Maybe she will run with what you said and say to many others "oh, they told me they aren't coming to meetings because of some silly royal commission thing!" Someone with a little more free thinking may wonder "hmmm...what is the royal commission and why is it keeping someone from the meetings?"
You never know....

Part of the intent of putting a sheet of righteousness over oneself to repel any information that doesn't support that inherent appealing endeavor, even to uphold the righteousness of an entire organization as what the JWS are indoctrinated to do.
Look what the Catholics did for so many years in its covering up of child sexual abuse by its own clergy.
There is a ongoing social agenda by self described Christians (JWS) to create an outward presence of righteousness, look at us we are wholesome good responsible people, we are not like the rest of the evil worldly people.
Well that's the intent , pretentious as it may be, what comes out of most JWS is something quite the opposite .

Why would you want to know?? Classic JW response, but most don't say it out loud or realize they are thinking it.
They often apply the scripture about "wanting their ears ticketed" to other religions. Seems to me they are no different.
On some level, people often want to be lied to and will go to great lengths to punish anyone who brings this to their attention.

The central point to why JWS are mostly dismissive to any wrong doings by the WTS leaders or what actually happens within the organization is that they have been deeply brainwashed into thinking that since this particular organization is being exclusively guided by Jehovah and is chosen organization, therefore its just a matter of time before his holy spirit will correct any apparent realized problem.
This delusion of course has been propagated and influenced by the very leaders of this organization for its continuing support .

As I reported here in this forum, some time ago, my sister was constantly harried by two elders so as to be submitted to a judiciary committee for apostasy. These two elders were constantly hounding her in the street when she walks to go to her job. So she had to send them a notary letter in which she wrote that she would attend the judiciary committee only with her attorney. After that, the elders stopped their actions, until now. Since two years ago she does not attend the meetings. However, today my sister called me, and she said that early in the morning, while going to work, suddenly in the street (again), the two same elders approached her and gave her a brochure ( she did not tell me which one), but my sister told them that she was very hurry, nevertheless, they told her that they are wanting her for attending a judiciary committee for the next Monday. She left them after saying that she wouldn't go. So, these stupid guys are striking back. I have told to my sister that she must report to the police that these two elders are stalking her.

May be the elders are now following new instructions coming from Bethel so as to hound "apostates" in the street.

They really have no authority
Tell them to present their evidence otherwise she will get a lawyer involved for harassment.
If she really does not want the JC to go ahead I would even get a legal letter sent to them.

I agree with Hecce. She should speak with her lawyer and the police. If she wants to write a letter, have her lawyer do it. That way it's on file and if they continue, a case for harassment and possibly stalking can be pursued.

I have told to my sister that she must report to the police that these two elders are stalking her.
If she goes to the police they will simply give her a restraining order document to fill out at home and take it to a judge. That could prevent the elders from coming within 100 yards of her.

Thanks for the advice....indeed, these things are happening because my sister lives in South America (I don't want to tell which country), where the police despises these actions. However, she must do something with her attorney.
If she were in US, where the LAW works better, the advice of "Village Idiot" would work.

In the US, the Gov't is not going to do anything about the inter-workings of a religion unless they start sacrificing virgins (which are very difficult to find these days). She would just get DFd in absentia. Which is likely the same thing that will happen if she refuses to appear before the JC now that she has been summoned.
Let's review: It's a cult! (In remembrance of Oubliette)

If they have 'evidence' of apostasy, then any restraining orders, contacting the police, lawyer's letters etc will only confirm their view and she will probably be df'd in her absence.
If they are convening a committee and she's desperate not to get df'd then the only realistic option is to attend, deny everything and be 'spiritually weak'.
kairos
kairos 20 minutes ago
If I really wanted to avoid being DF'd for apostasy it would have been a lot of work and time spent for what, in the end?
They were already shunning me and I was absolutely sure that I would NEVER go back to the KH for any reason.
I should have DA'd three years ago when I first learned TTATT.
---
If your sister can come to terms with this reality, I think she should consider ignoring them completely and let them do what they do or simply hand them an "F. U. letter", I mean formal disassociation.
Then she can have true peace and freedom.
The pain of shunning is pretty bad, however.
I'm at the anger stage. Angry that the policy still exists.
It's all so ridiculous. They are making it about loyalty.
Ultimately a loyalty oath to the GB.

“The soul that does something deliberately [footnote says “with uplifted hand”] whether he is native or an alien resident, he speaking abusively of Jehovah’s word, in that case that soul should be cut off from among his people.” (Numbers 15:30)
According to this verse, acting with “high-handedness” and “speaking abusively of Jehovah’s word” constitute disfellowshipping offence.
1) “High-handedness” is something that JWs themselves silently experience from JB, hence require no witness or proof.
2) Projecting Jehovah as a beggar by profusely applying Proverb 27:11 to Him, and presenting Jehovah as trying to please Satan endlessly to win the (imaginary) Issue of Universal Sovereignty, GB is also “speaking abusively of Jehovah’s word.” Interestingly, Issue of Universal Sovereignty never figured in Jesus’ teachings. If such an issue really did exist, Jesus would have used all his superhuman skills to present that teaching to the world with paramount importance!!!
3) By teaching that God Almighty felt ‘challenged and taunted’ by one of His own creatures is “sinning against holy spirit” which according to Jesus is an unforgivable sin in this system of things and in that to come. (Mathew 12:32)

i ran into an older sister who has always been very sweet.. it was a friendly chat...yet she pushed for a reason why my family have been missing from meetings for some time.
the question was deflected, until it just had to be said: "well, there have been some troubling and disturbing issues about the society especially the way things were handled during the royal commission, as well as many other issues".. she quickly cut in and said "but why would you want to know these things?
its best not to research and look at those sort of things - so we don't get upset!".

So at around the 46 min mark - the are talking to this guy from Ukraine who was a zoologist.
He talks about how he was a staunch evolutionist (who wasn't able to prove evolution to himself, by the way). Then when he studied nature through the lens of evolution - he found that nature contradicted evolution.
His BIG point came when he said - "imagine emptying a box of letter blocks on a table, and the Encyclopedia Britannica appears, or could a computer program come by chance. So who could DNA come by chance."
OK all - with this piercing analysis - I have to RECANT and go back to the Hall.
F the millions of pieces of evidence that science and museums hold!
F the new DNA proof that is there for everyone to look at.
How can you argue against letter blocks not turning into the Encyclopedia Britannica !!!

Most of the GB men today who are in position have been trained and educated by the WTS's own teachings concerning evolution and it would be a good assumption that most don't even have a high school diploma.
They hold to the concept of the earths beginning from ancient mythological beliefs not by factual acquired evidence from scientific investigation.

So, the WT is at it again - saying stuff that has nothing to do with evolution. Knocking down a strawman I believe it's called.
The process which causes speciation, natural selection, is non-random. It has nothing to do with emptying letters onto a table and an encyclopaedia appearing.
Incidentally, this is nothing new - they tried the same trick in the blue evolution book.
Is it through sheer ignorance or do the WT writers know that they're misrepresenting evolution?
My money's on the former.

A few days ago you asked a question about macro-evolution.
A few of us took time to answer it. You have yet to acknowledge or say thank you. Maybe take a look at your own attitude before you lecture others.
I would have eventually gave a big thank you. But since you brought it to my attention, I did it earlier than usual.

This is apparently a new series on JW broadcasting which will essentially uses the argument from authority (fallacy) to show that well educated people can be JWs and reject evolution.
There was a second video after this one with a "scientist" who is making the same irreducible complexity argument. (at: 49 minutes)
He is talking about how amazing the numbers of neurons in a certain part of the brain is....
"so when you think of the complexity of all that, how is it possible that that is just by random chance? It has to be guided!"
Guided by natural selection maybe?...
He then tells us that the idea of one God really appealed to him... Since he came from a hindu background with millions of gods. The trinity also took a hit because he thinks it has more than one God... He has been drinking to much of the kool-aid.

I have some questions for Professor Kalaria: How do you justify in your mind the Watchtower Society's stand on higher education and then at the same time make your living as an individual teaching in an institution of higher learning? Also, your research is on 'brain diseases' and helping to find treatments and cures for such. Is it not MORE important to spend your time preaching about God's kingdom where the 'Great Physician' Jesus Christ will heal all the resurrected ones of whatever malady they may have? Is not what you are doing tantamount to 'rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic'?

While it may not be asked so directly, it is a huge question for discussion here.
We all have thoughts on whether the men in the governing body are victims or victimizers or both.
My personal thoughts tend toward them adjusting their thinking more in line with the way lawyers sleep at night after getting guilty clients out of prison or the way politicians adjust their thinking toward learning to say almost anything (or nothing) in order to get votes.
They learn to think that the preservation of the organization is way more important than anything else, things like kindness and full disclosure of information. This thinking allows them to manipulate, coerce, and even directly lie.

Eric Hoffer wasn't talking about the WTBTS but what he said in The True Believer points to a high control religion like the Society.
An active mass movement rejects the present and centers it's interest on the future. It is from this attitude that it derives it's strength, for it can proceed recklessly with the present- with the health, wealth and lives of it's followers. But it must act as if it has already read the book of the future to the last word. Its doctrine is proclaimed as a key to that book.
People have lost their health and many their lives because of the prohibitions on various health procedures over course of this religions life time.
They have been DF if they felt the Society was misinformed about a scripture or policy. Lost their family and friends, been shunned only to see that 'new light' is now in agreement with that DFed person except they will never be given an apology or be welcomed back.

Since this organization was founded upon lies and deceptions as a religoius publishing house the lies and corruption have continued on since then, much of that involves taking information from somewhere out of context and using it to support previously constructed lies or misinformation, they even use the bible malignantly to support certain doctrines.
The WTS is a publishing house which was created by men as a means of self empowerment toward themselves by utilizing lies and deceptions to build a following and to stimulate the proliferation of the literature it published.
The money cultivation is another matter of observation..

Legally corrupt or morally corrupt? There's a difference. I think they may be brushing up against the legal line on a lot of things, I don't believe they've crossed it.
Morally, they have a lot to answer for: false prophecy, harboring child molesters, lack of financial transparency for starters.

Good question.l guess to best answer this question we need to analyse/ explore the orgs past history.l believe the governing baboons will do whatever is necessary to keep the lie alive (self preservation)lf they have to lie they will try and justify the lie to themselves. So l guess in a nut shell they do whatever it takes to survive and if it involves corruption so be it.Endemic corruption is alive and well right throughout the world and the org is no different.

Corruption results from a structure that can be manipulated, and those poor souls
are manipulated BIG time. The GB got all the power so what's left, money.
Complete power over millions of people can be very addictive and dangerous.

i ran into an older sister who has always been very sweet.. it was a friendly chat...yet she pushed for a reason why my family have been missing from meetings for some time.
the question was deflected, until it just had to be said: "well, there have been some troubling and disturbing issues about the society especially the way things were handled during the royal commission, as well as many other issues".. she quickly cut in and said "but why would you want to know these things?
its best not to research and look at those sort of things - so we don't get upset!".

Does anyone have a copy of a letter to the BOE in Mexico or Malawi from the 80's/90's - (it can be in Spanish or some other language) from back in those days regarding organizational policy and direction?
Of course the cult teaches that it's a sin to be involved in politics and the military. In Mexico - every young man was expected to complete a year of military service. What years was that in effect and is it still the case? Also, JDubs are reported to have bribed Mexican military personnel with cash to get their card signed, a certificate that stated that they had already completed their required year of military service. The card/certificate would validate that they were now in the first reserves of the army, having completed their military service (one year).
There were supposed to be letters from the WTBTS to the congregations in Mexico stating that the practice of bribing officials with cash to skip the military service was a "conscience matter" - and this directly contradicted what was happening in Malawi - AT THE SAME TIME - where thousands of JDubs were on the run after having their houses burned and being raped, etc...because they wouldn't purchase a 25 cent party card there...
Does anyone have copies of either of the letters to the bodies of elders from that time period?
BluesBrother
BluesBrother 2 days ago
The stand in Malawi was clearly laid out in the Watchtower/Awakes of the period. I have never seen any internal letters that described.
The Mexico situation was, I believe only described by R Franz in "Crisis of Conscience" . That would be a good starting point

“the soul that does something deliberately [footnote says “with uplifted hand”] whether he is native or an alien resident, he speaking abusively of jehovah’s word, in that case that soul should be cut off from among his people.” (numbers 15:30).
according to this verse, acting with “high-handedness” and “speaking abusively of jehovah’s word” constitute disfellowshipping offence.
1) “high-handedness” is something that jws themselves silently experience from jb, hence require no witness or proof.
