George Virl Osmond (October 13, 1917 – November 6, 2007) was the patriarch of the Osmond family.
Life and career[edit]
Osmond was born in Etna, Wyoming, the son of Agnes LaVerna (née Van Noy) and Rulon Osmond. His ancestry included English, Danish, Scottish, Scots-Irish, Swiss-German, and Dutch.[1][2] Rulon died at age 24 on November 24, 1917, shortly after George was born. A devout Mormon, Osmond served two missions for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, one in Hawaii and the other in the United Kingdom.
A World War II veteran, on December 1, 1944, he married Olive May Davis. The two had nine children: Virl, Tom, Alan, Wayne, Merrill, Jay, Donny, Marie and Jimmy.
He worked in real estate, insurance and as a postmaster for the city of Ogden, Utah. He loved to sing, and he taught his children to sing barbershop harmony. The children's natural talent received public notice, which led to frequent appearances at church functions and local civil events. Osmond managed his sons careers, and gained an appearance at Disneyland in California. They caught the eye of Walt Disney, who took a personal interest in them. The boys auditioned for Andy Williams, whose father helped launch them into the national spotlight.
As his children's fortunes rose, Osmond put his career aside to focus on the family's musical interests and moved the family to California to place them closer to the heart of the entertainment industry.
In 2004, his wife Olive Osmond died shortly before the couple's 60th anniversary. In addition to their children and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, their legacy was the Osmond Foundation, which later became the Children's Miracle Network, the largest charitable organization of its kind serving children's hospitals around the world.
On November 6, 2007, George Virl Osmond died at his home in Provo, Utah of natural causes. Affectionately known as "Father Osmond" to Osmond fans all over the world, he was buried in the East Lawn Memorial Hills Cemetery in Provo, Utah beside his wife, Olive. Along with the nine children, Mr. Osmond was survived by 55 grandchildren and 48 great-grandchildren.

Olive May Osmond (née Davis; May 4, 1925 – May 9, 2004) was the matriarch of the American Osmond singing family, and mother of entertainers Donny Osmond and Marie Osmond.
Life and career[edit]
Osmond was born in Samaria, Idaho, the daughter of Vera Ann (née Nichols) and Thomas Martin Davis. She had Welsh and English ancestry.[1] She moved to Ogden, Utah, where she worked as a secretary. There, she met and fell in love with George Osmond. They married on December 1, 1944.
Their first two children, Virl and Tom, were born with a degenerative condition which left them nearly deaf. Doctors warned the couple that any other children would be at risk of inheriting the same disorder, but George and Olive wanted a large family. The rest of the children, Alan, Wayne, Merrill, Jay, Donny, Marie, and Jimmy, were born healthy.
George formed a barbershop quartet consisting of Alan, Wayne, Merrill and Jay. Singer Andy Williams' father saw their act at Disneyland, and from 1962 to 1971, the Osmond Brothers appeared on The Andy Williams Show. Donny made his show-business debut on the program the day after his sixth birthday.
The brothers eventually left The Andy Williams Show and launched a successful recording career. They – including Donny, Marie, and Jimmy as solo artists – scored several hits. The Osmond's biggest being "One Bad Apple" which climbed to Number 1. From 1976 to 1979, Donny and Marie hosted The Donny and Marie Show.
Marie played Olive in the 1982 TV movie Side by Side: The True Story of the Osmond Family. Another 2001 TV movie, Inside the Osmonds, produced by Jimmy, depicted the brothers' egos, George's fiscal mismanagement, and the family's quest to build a multi-media empire as leading to their downfall. As a nurturer and because of her love for all children who are struggling, Olive leveraged her family's fame to start The Osmond Foundation, now known as the Children's Miracle Network which Marie continues to support.
Olive Osmond passed ahead on May 9, 2004, which was Mother's Day and five days after her 79th birthday.;The cause of her death was listed as complications from a stroke she had suffered three years earlier on November 13, 2001. She was surrounded and loved by her family. She is still remembered and loved by people everywhere as "Mother Osmond". She was survived by husband George (who died on November 6, 2007), their 9 children, 55 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

Early life[edit]
Mike Lookinland's father was a Vice Principal at San Pedro High School, located in San Pedro, California, part of the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD), in the late 1970s. Lookinland was born in 1960 in Mount Pleasant, Utah, a small town located eighty miles south of Salt Lake City. He has a younger brother named Todd, who starred in "Blue Bird" with Elizabeth Taylor and an older sister Terese. Lookinland grew up in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He is a self-professed conservationist and "camping nut". He attended the private Chadwick School on the Palos Verdes Peninsula in Southern California, and graduated in 1978.
Career[edit]
Lookinland was a TV commercial actor before he was cast in The Brady Bunch, having done around thirty commercials. He has naturally sandy-colored wavy hair. Because his hair color did not match Peter's or Greg's natural dark brown color, he had to have his hair dyed dark brown and straightened to match. Occasionally, the lights on set though were so hot that his dye job would sometimes run down his face. During the last two seasons of The Brady Bunch, his natural hair color was finally allowed to show. Bobby (Mike) was always the type of kid who was sweet, funny, energetic, and sometimes dramatic during his role on the Brady Bunch. Lookinland's character was the first of the Brady kids to carry a scene without any of the other children. In the scene, Bobby tells his father, Mike (Robert Reed), he has put his mother's photograph away for fear of offending the new Mrs. Brady (Florence Henderson). Mike assures Bobby that no one wants him to forget his mother, and places the photo back on the boy's dresser.
Lookinland's brother, Todd, appeared in a Brady Bunch episode that served as the pilot for a spin-off series called Kelly's Kids[2] about a husband and wife who adopt three boys, one white, one black, and one Asian. The pilot was not bought, however. In another episode during the show's final season, Bobby kisses a girl named Milicent (Melissa Sue Anderson) and he sees “sky rockets.” She then informs him that she may have the mumps and he "shouldn't have done that." Bobby and his family nervously await her telephone call with the doctor's results. Years later, the two reunited on an episode of Little House on the Prairie, on which Anderson played Mary Ingalls, and Lookinland guest starred. Melissa Sue Anderson was also raised in the LDS (Mormon) church.
Lookinland also provided the voice of Oblio in the animated film The Point!. Shortly after the final season of The Brady Bunch wrapped filming, he appeared alongside Jennifer Jones and Paul Newman in the 1974 disaster film blockbuster The Towering Inferno and on the 1970s TV show The Secrets of Isis.
Lookinland reprised his role as Bobby Brady in the 1988 Christmas special A Very Brady Christmas, and again in the 1990 sequel series The Bradys, in which Bobby Brady was involved in a racing car accident, which made him a wheelchair user throughout the series.
Interestingly, the first two names of the Brady father character played by Robert Reed was "Michael Paul", the same as Lookinland's actual names.
Personal life[edit]
Since 1987, Lookinland has been married to Kelly Wermuth, who worked as a script supervisor on Touched by an Angel. They have two sons: Scott (born 1990) and Joe (born 1993). He was portrayed by his son Scott in the TV movie Growing Up Brady.[citation needed] Years after leaving 'The Brady Bunch, Lookinland cut off the end of his index finger with a table saw. The end was deemed too small to be sewn back on, but it has never affected his career.[citation needed] After acting, Lookinland became an alcoholic and was arrested for a DUI in 1997.
Lookinland is a fan of the rock band the Grateful Dead, and has stated that he attended over 100 of their live concerts.[3][4]
Lookinland spent several years as a television camera operator. He currently operates a business which makes decorative concrete.[5]

Career[edit]
Acting[edit]
Her show business career began when a dance teacher urged her parents to find an agent for her. She began doing television commercials, and soon she was in demand for television roles. Her first came in a 1972 episode of Bewitched entitled "Tabitha's First Day Of School." A memorable early role of hers was of Millicent, a girl who kissed Bobby and induced him to see fireworks on The Brady Bunch.
At the age of eleven, Anderson landed the role of Mary Ingalls on Little House on the Prairie. Beating out hundreds of competitors for the role, she would go on to star on the show for eight seasons; beginning in 1974 and leaving after season seven, later appearing in two episodes of season eight in late 1981.

Anderson with Lance Kerwin in the 1977 television film, James at 15
In 1976, Michael Landon asked Anderson if she would appear in his autobiographical film,The Loneliest Runner. Anderson agreed to play Nancy Rizzi, the first girlfriend of John Curtis (based on Landon and played by Lance Kerwin), saying she was very thrilled to have been asked. In 1977, she once again co-starred as the love interest opposite Lance Kerwin in the television film James at 15.
She was nominated for a 1978 Primetime Emmy Award for Best Leading Actress in a Drama Series for her work on Little House on the Prairie and won the Emmy Award for her performance in Which Mother Is Mine?, which aired as an ABC Afterschool Special in 1979. Also in 1979, she played the title role of Dana Lee Gilbert, a North Dakota transfer student to Los Angeles' San Fernando Valley, California in CBS's TV movie Survival of Dana.
In 1980, Anderson earned a 'TP de Oro' Award (considered to be Spain's most prestigious award for television) for 'Best Foreign Actress' for her role Little House. This followed a successful visit to Spain in 1979 to appear as a guest on RTVE's program, 625 Lineas. In 1981, she earned a Young Artist Award nomination for her performance in the Canadian slasher film Happy Birthday to Me.[1] After leaving Little House, she continued acting in television shows like The Equalizer, Alfred Hitchcock Presents (1980s), and Murder, She Wrote, and was the associate producer for the next to last TV project Michael Landon made before dying: Where Pigeons Go to Die (1990). In 1998, she was inducted into the Western Performers Hall of Fame at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Author[edit]
In 2010 Anderson released her autobiography entitled The Way I See It - A Look Back at My Life on Little House. The book, which is primarily based on her life during her years as a child star on The Little House On The Prairie, contains behind the scenes-stories and anecdotes about the show itself, its stars, guest stars and crew members.
Methodically, Anderson takes the reader through each of the first seven seasons of the show (the seasons in which she appeared). She also tells about her pre and post Little House career and her side-projects during the Little House years. She is frank and open about her feelings about the projects in which she has been involved, and also writes about her personal life and how it was affected by her career.
Personal life[edit]
Anderson's first publicly known romance was with actor Lorenzo Lamas,[citation needed] with whom she made an appearance in the television series The Love Boat in which two friends (Lorenzo and Melissa) resist the matchmaking efforts of their parents. After this short romance, she dated Frank Sinatra, Jr.[citation needed] in the late 1970s, who, at the time, was more than twice her age.
With husband Michael Sloan, Anderson has two children, daughter Piper (born February 1991) and son Griffin (born June 1996). She has lived in Montreal, Quebec, Canada since 2002. She and her husband became naturalized Canadians in 2007.[2]
