Survivor
Suomen Robinson was the Finnish reality television program debuted in 2004. In the of spring of 2004 Nelonen purchased the broadcast rights to air their own version of Expedition Robinson. Seeing the success of the Danish, Norwegian, and Swedish versions of the show TV4 assumed that their own version would also be a huge success. Unfortunately, they were wrong in their assumption and due to competition from shows like Big Brother after two seasons the show was cancelled due to low ratings.
The name alludes to both Robinson Crusoe and The Swiss Family Robinson, two stories featuring people marooned by shipwrecks.
Format[edit]
The Robinson format was developed by Planet 24, a United Kingdom TV production company owned by Charlie Parsons and Bob Geldof. Their company Castaway Television Productions retained the rights to the concept when they sold Planet 24 in 1999. Mark Burnett later licensed the format to create the U.S. show Survivor in 2000.
Sixteen contestants are put into a survival situation and compete in a variety of physical challenges. Early in each season two teams compete but later on the teams are merged and the competitions become individual. At the end of each show one contestant is eliminated from the show by the others in a secret "island council" ballot.

Suomen Robinson 2004, was the first season of the Finnish version of Expedition Robinson, or Survivor as it is referred to in some countries and it aired in late 2004. The show adapted many elements from the original Swedish version of the show such as the use of green and yellow for tribe colors, but instead of the typical North and South teams, there were the Sribuat and Sembilang tribes. During the early portion of the program the Sribuat tribe proved to be the stronger of the two as they won four of the six immunity challenges. When the two ribes merged into the Tengah tribe, the former members of quickly turned against each other as Heidi Moilanen, Ingmar Sirén, and Johanna Ullakko joined forces with Gun Sundqvist, Jarmo Hänninen, and Marjaana Valkeinen to form a powerful six person alliance. When it came time for the final four the contestants competed in a challenge in order to determine who would be the final two. Ultimately, it was Marjaana Valkeinen who won the season over Johanna Ullakko by an unknown jury vote.

Suomen Robinson 2005

Suomen Robinson 2005, was the second season of the Finnish version of Expedition Robinson, or Survivor as it is referred to in some countries and it aired in late 2005. Immediately upon arriving to the island the contestants were forced to compete in two challenges in order to determine who would be eliminated. The two contestants, Elena Sinkevitch and Mari Jalonen, were both sent to a secret island. As a major twist this season, during the pre-merge portion of the game when a contestant was voted out they would move to a secret island where they would compete against two other contestants to remain in the game. The two contestants left on the secret island following the final duel, Elena Sinkevitch and Markku Markkanen, joined the other members of the merge tribe. The contestants were then divided up into two tribes known as "Goal" and "Texas". When it came time for the final four, the contestants took part in the infamous "plank" competition in which Jasna Preselj was eliminated and Markku Markkanen advanced to the final two. The other two contestants then took part in one more challenge in which Mira Jantunen won and advanced to the final two while Elena Sinkevitch was eliminated. The final two then took part in a duel which Mira Jantunen won and earned an extra jury vote for herself. Along with this, Mira also won the audience's jury vote. Ultimately, it was Mira Jantunen who won this season over Markku Markkanen by a unanimous jury vote of 11-0.

Format and rules[edit]
16 contestants must survive on an uninhabited island for 40 days (20 days in special seasons). They have to find food to accompany the meagre ration of rice supplied to them at the beginning of the adventure. They should build a shelter to protect themselves from external conditions (weather, insects...) and keep alight the fire they were able to start or which they won in the first round.
Each contestant has a backpack with some clothes (limited to pants, shorts, two underwear, a hat, a pair of sunglasses etc.). Any product related to hygiene or food is prohibited (except due to illness).
Unlike most versions of Survivor, there can be more than one winner of "Koh-Lanta" depending on the season.
The name of the show, Koh-Lanta comes from first tribe names the Korok and the Lanta-naï.
2013 series cancellation[edit]
Production has been stopped and the series cancelled for the 2013 season following the death of a contestant, Gerald Babin, during the first day of filming in Cambodia on 22 March 2013.[1] The program's on-site doctor, Thierry Costa, committed suicide following the controversy. In his suicide note, he stated that his name has been "smeared in the media", leading to his ultimate death.[2]

Koh-Lanta: Bocas del Toro was the third season of the French version of Survivor, Koh-lanta. This season took place in Panama on Bocas del Toro, and was broadcast on TF1 from June 6, 2003 to August 28, 2003 airing on Fridays at 6:55 p.m. The two original tribes this season were Boro and Machiga. Due to the high amount of evacuations and ejections that took place this season, two jokers (Hélène and Delphine) were added to the game midway through the competition and most of the original cast was eliminated before the merge. This season saw a first in the world history of Survivor when both finalists received three jury votes and were both given the titles of Survivor.
The winners of this season of Koh-lanta were Delphine Bano and Isabelle Seguin who split the prize of €110,000.

Koh-Lanta: Panama was the fourth season of the French version of Survivor Koh-Lanta. Like season three this season was held in Panama but in the archipelago of Las Perlas. It was broadcast TF1 from Friday July 2, 2004 to Tuesday August 31, 2004. This season the contestants were initially divided into two tribes known as Chapera and Mogo, both of which consisted of eight contestants of the same gender. Following a tribal swap on day eight many contestants found themselves living on new tribes. Due to two evacuations that occurred this season, both Linda and Sophie returned to the game following their initial eliminations.
Catherine, a castaway, is member of French political movement Front National.
The winner of this season of Koh-lanta was Philippe Bordier, who took home the prize of €100,000.

^1 Following their victory at the first immunity challenge, the Chapera tribe was allowed to pick one member of the Mogo tribe that would be sent to Exile Island and would not be able to vote or be voted for at the first tribal council. They chose Jean-Bernard.
^2 As the two ambassadors for the merge tribe, Philippe and Romuald had to cast an extra vote for someone at the first post-merge tribal council.

Koh-Lanta: Pacific was the fifth season of the French version of Survivor Koh-Lanta. This season was held in New Caledonia on the Isle of Pines. It was broadcast on TF1 from Tuesday July 5, 2005 to Tuesday August 31, 2004. The two tribes original tribes this season were Kanawa and Kumo. Episode one of this saw the first ever double tribal council to occur in the history of Koh-Lanta. The reason for this was because it was discovered that the Kumo tribe had all openly discussed who would be leaving at the first tribal council. Due to the voluntary exit of Sylvie, a joker, Caroline entered the game in episode three. This also caused the re-entrance of Francis into the competition.
The winner of this season of Koh-lanta was Clémence Castel, who took home the prize of €100,000.

^1 As punishment for the Kumo tribe having openly agreed amongst themselves who would be voted out at the first tribal council, they were forced to vote out a second person at their first tribal council.
^2 As the two ambassadors for their respective tribes, Alexis and Pierre were asked to agree on one person who would have a vote cast against them automatically at the seventh tribal council. They chose to vote for Sakhone.

Koh-Lanta: Vanuatu was the sixth season of Koh-Lanta, the French version of Survivor. This season took place in Vanuatu, and was broadcast on TF1 from July 21 to September 5, 2006, on Fridays at 6:55 p.m. The two original tribes this season were Mosso and Tana. Along with the typical aspects of the game, this season contestants had to deal with both a cyclone and a series of earthquakes (one of which damaged the immunity idol). Due to several medical evacuations, Alain, Nathalie, and Sébastien who were all initially eliminated early on returned to the game.
The winner was François-David Cardonnel who took home the prize of €100,000.

Koh-Lanta: Vietnam was the tenth season of the French version of Survivor. This season took place on Vietnam, at Con Dao. The two original tribes this season were Do and Vang.
The winner of this season of Koh-lanta was Liam who won the prize of €100,000.
The winner of this season, Philippe, became hate the French public as he was very arrogant and do not assume its strategy, preferring to lie in the interview and being overly politically correct. Marine, Laurence and Aurélie regretted their vote in his favor. Claude, charismatic candidate combining authoritarianism, manhood, charisma, physical power and unstoppable strategy was the favorite public (with Marine) but he finished second.

Koh-Lanta: Raja Ampat is the 11th season of the French version of Survivor, Koh-lanta. This season takes place in Indonesia on the archipelago of Raja Ampat Islands, and will broadcast on TF1 in September 2011, every Fridays at 8:45pm (7:45 p.m. GMT) before Secret Story 2011 (France).
Two new rules were introduced in this season. One is taken directly from the American Survivor format: the hidden immunity idol (represented as a collar), and a new rule called the black vote, which permits to an eliminated contestant to take revenge by voting one more time against one of the remaining contestants.
