SpongeBob SquarePants: Legend of the Lost Spatula is a platform action video game developed by Vicarious Visions and published by THQ for the Game Boy Color handheld video game console. The game was released in the United States on March 14, 2001, and in Europe on May 4, 2001. The game's story centers on SpongeBob SquarePants, a sea sponge who lives in the undersea town of Bikini Bottom and works for Mr. Krabs as the fry cook of the Krusty Krab fast food restaurant. SpongeBob is destined to become the ocean's greatest fry cook, and must embark on a quest to retrieved a "golden spatula" from the Flying Dutchman, a pirate ghost. The game features platforming-style gameplay, as well as many characters from the television series. This is the only 8-bit SpongeBob game and the only SpongeBob video game on the Game Boy Color. A sequel, SuperSponge was released in November 2001 for the PlayStation and Game Boy Advance.

Gameplay[edit]
As SpongeBob, the player embarks on an undersea quest to find the Flying Dutchman's Golden Spatula in order to become the ocean's greatest short-order cook. If SpongeBob gets hit, his clothing falls off. If SpongeBob is wearing a jacket power-up, he loses it when he is hit. If he takes a hit with no jacket, his pants fall off, leaving him to run around in his underwear. If his underwear falls off, he loses a life. Along the way, SpongeBob meets and interacts with many of the show's popular recurring characters like Mr. Krabs, Squidward Tentacles, Sandy Cheeks, and Patrick Star. The game uses elements of adventure and side-scrolling gameplay.

The game has received mostly mixed and mediocre reviews. Frank Provo Provo of GameSpot said "One could argue that SpongeBob SquarePants: Legend of the Lost Spatula is geared toward the younger audience of the TV series, which would explain the game's simplified gameplay and lack of variety. However, while the plot is endearing and the characters will no doubt appeal to the series' fans, there is no evidence to suggest that children would actually enjoy playing a game this unremarkable--let alone adults."[2] Provo criticized the game for its "simplified gameplay" and "lack of variety," but gave praise to the graphics, saying the game "at least looks decent".[2] Jon Griffith of IGN complimented the game as a "decent platformer" with "large levels, multiple objectives, and amusing characters" but criticized it for its password saving system, confusing level design, and difficulty in certain aspects of gameplay.[3]

Plot[edit]
It is Patrick's birthday, and SpongeBob wants to give him "the best present ever": a photo signed by his favorite superheroes, Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy. However, the heroes want nothing more than to get rid of SpongeBob, so they keep sending him to random tasks around Bikini Bottom. It's SpongeBob's mission to accomplish these tasks and get Patrick's birthday present.
Gameplay[edit]
The game is divided in five worlds (listed as "chapters"), each one with four levels: Bikini Bottom, an underwater volcano, the prehistoric Bikini Bottom, Rock Bottom and the industrial district of Bikini Bottom. Levels can be cleared by collecting the object desired by Barnacle Boy. In addition, the fourth level of every chapter has a boss.
Scattered through all the levels there are golden spatulas — by collecting all the 100 in a level SpongeBob wins an extra life. In the PS version, spatulas also serve as health measurers, for, if SpongeBob touches an enemy, he loses all the collected spatulas, and if he is touched by an enemy without any spatulas, he loses a life, which is similar to the rings in Sonic the Hedgehog. In the GBA version, a separate health measure is used, which can be replenished by collecting items like Salty Fries, Salty Shakes and Krabby Patties. Lives also can be obtained by finding underpants.
In the PS version, by collecting a certain number of spatulas in every chapter, a secret level named "Six Clams Adventure Land" (a reference to the Six Flags amusement park) can be unlocked. In those levels, set in an amusement park, SpongeBob must ride through the toys and collect all the 25 flower tokens. These tokens can be used to buy props to Patrick's birthday party at the end of the game.
To defeat enemies, SpongeBob can do a butt-bounce or use certain items such as:
Jellyfish Net: SpongeBob can capture jellyfish and throw them at enemies. (The limit of jellyfishes who can be kept at the net is five in the PS version, and ten in the GBA one.)
Coral Blower: While with his coral blower, SpongeBob can suck scattered seashells and throw them in order to break rock walls. SpongeBob cannot perform the butt-bounce when he has this item.
Squeaky Boots: (Only in PS version) SpongeBob can wear those to walk over spiky surfaces without getting hurt. Their effect is limited, though.
Jelly Launcher: A raygun-esque weapon who launches dehydrated jellyfishes. The ammo is limited, and SpongeBob can reload the weapon by collecting a jar of jellyfish, which is marked with a light blue jellyfish drawing on the side.
Bubble Wand: SpongeBob, while having the Bubble Wand, can blow up bubbles who serve as platforms. The quantity of bubbles is limited, and SpongeBob can refill the Bubble Wand by collecting pink pots of soap.
Karate Glove: SpongeBob can give a karate slap on enemies and grab distant objects. It is always equipped in the GBA version, but in the PS version it is a power-up to be picked up, and its effect is limited.
Glove World Balloon: SpongeBob can jump higher than normal and also float (PS version). Its effect is limited.
Reception[edit]
SuperSponge received mixed reviews since its release: the PlayStation's version received 68% and the Game Boy Advance version a 67.83%, on Gamerankings. The PlayStation version of this game also received the title of "Greatest Hits".[3]

Plot[edit]
One day, SpongeBob wakes up and begins with playing fetch with Gary, leading the snail to dig up a treasure chest. SpongeBob opens the chest and finds a magic bottle, which upon rubbing it, the bottle releases doubloons all over Bikini Bottom and releases The Flying Dutchman. The Flying Dutchman tells SpongeBob that he will take Gary to work on his ship for all eternity. However, he decides to give SpongeBob some time before then.
SpongeBob proceeds to travel across 7 different worlds to recover the nine letters of his name in each area that will lead to treasures to defeat The Flying Dutchman. Over time, more of SpongeBob's friends are hypnotized and come under control of The Flying Dutchman. After collecting all of the seven treasures, SpongeBob rescues his friends and fights The Flying Dutchman. After defeating him, he is imprisoned back in his bottle. The gang escape on a flying boat to the Krusty Krab to celebrate.
Worlds[edit]
Bikini Bottom, the main hub
Jellyfish Fields
Chum World
Goo Lagoon
Treedome
Downtown Bikini Bottom
Dutchman's Graveyard
Game Boy Advance Version[edit]
The GBA version was released in North America on September 10, 2002. This version is a typical platforming game. There are 5 worlds in the game: SpongeBob's Home, Jellyfish Fields, Krusty Krab, Tea at the Treedome, Doubloon Bonus World, and a final world on the Flying Dutchman's ship. Needless to say, it differs dramatically from the console versions, and the plot changes. It starts off with SpongeBob giving Gary the Snail a walk through Jellyfish Fields, Gary then smells Kelp nip and runs off. After SpongeBob finds Gary with the help of Patrick Star, he finds a chest. Gary opens it, and SpongeBob finds a big sack of coins (which he tosses) and a bottle. SpongeBob then opens it. The Flying Dutchman appears. (The Flying Dutchman is a boss). Once you almost beat the Dutchman (About 50%) He tells SpongeBob to find his dining sock and the coins that got scattered around Bikini Bottom. Then, Gary runs off again. Then, while looking for Gary, SpongeBob runs over Plankton. Plankton then falls off, and he finds Gary. He sends a message to the Krusty Krab telling SpongeBob that he found Gary. After SpongeBob looks all over Bikini Bottom, (end of world SpongeBob's Home or some games have it Home Sweet Pineapple.) He finds the Dutchman's Ship and climbs up to it. SpongeBob then falls down saying "I'll ask Patrick at Jellyfish Fields". When the cutscene is over, you can choose between Jellyfish Fields, Krusty Krab (or as known as 'PLANKTON!')., Tea at the Treedome, and replay SpongeBob's Home (or Home Sweet Pineapple). All levels have SpongeBob looking for Gary, the Dining Sock, and the coins. After you beat all the levels (except The Flying Dutchman's Ship.), the Dutchman takes Gary, Patrick, Squidward, Sandy, and Plankton. The Dutchman then tells SpongeBob he has 9 minutes left to find it. After you find the last of the coins, and find the Dining sock, SpongeBob fights waves of minions created by the Dutchman. After that, SpongeBob battles the Dutchman himself. After The Flying Dutchman is defeated, the player is given a list of wishes to choose from, one of them involving giving SpongeBob his own TV show. When chosen, a screenshot of the show's original logo appears. Then you can replay all the levels and play as SpongeBob, Mr. Krabs, Gary, Sandy, Squidward, Patrick, and/or Plankton.
Critical reception[edit]
Reviews of the GameCube version of the game was met with generally positive reviews upon release. It currently obtains 66 out of 100 on Metacritic indicating "mixed or average reviews" and an even better 73% on GameRankings. GameZone wrote a favorable review, mainly citing the use of a checklist calling it motivating and helps to keep the user on track, but criticized it for its crude background designs and fairly generic music tracks; GameZone ended the review by exclaiming that it was great fun for kids but older fans may just want to rent.
The Game Boy Advance version of the game was the best received out of the three consoles the game was released on. It currently obtains 71 out of 100 on Metacritc indicating "mixed or average reviews" and 73% on GameRankings. GameZone wrote a generally positive review, saying that it was an excellent game for the kiddies but thought that it was too short and easy to appeal to its older audience.
Despite the GameCube version being fundamentally the same game as on the PlayStation 2 version, (with the exception of an inconvenient loading glitch) the PS2 version was met with mixed reviews. It currently does not have a rating on Metacritic and has a 53% rating on GameRankings. IGN.com wrote a rather harsh review, giving it a mere 4.0 "poor" rating and hardly saying anything redeeming about the game, criticizing it for its sluggish controls, annoying music tracks, n64 graphics, frequent and obnoxious loading screens, simplistic game play, somewhat tedious fetch quests and the unnecessary use of a checklist which made the game feel like a chore. IGN.com ended their review saying: "...Yes, pre-school-aged kids will probably get a kick out of the game, though they'd likely be more entertained mowing down prostitutes in Grand Theft Auto." Play magazine also wrote a generally negative review, giving the game 2 out of 5 stars, citing its mediocre and sparse levels, bad models and the fact that there are loading times where there should not be any.

Intro[edit]
SpongeBob wins the 'Employee of the Month' award again, making him 'Employee of the Year'. As a prize, he receives two tickets to Neptune's Paradise, a local theme park which Mr. Krabs had won free tickets to in the mail.
Chapter 1: Employee of the Year[edit]
SpongeBob and Patrick have to get a bus to Neptune's Paradise which requires SpongeBob to search the town for bus tokens. But first, SpongeBob must finish his shift at the Krusty Krab where a hungry customer, later named the Familiar Guy, demands his order of a Krabby Patty be fulfilled. After making a Krabby Patty, the costumer then tells him to take the bus to Nepture's Paradise. Only problem is he doesn't have money to buy bus tokens. SpongeBob then returns to the town and Patrick tells him that the Flying Dutchman hid a buried treasure at the local beach, Goo Lagoon. Once there, he finds that Larry the Lobster has a shovel and pail but will not let SpongeBob use them since he likes them so much. SpongeBob goes to his grandmother's house to get a home made pie that will distract Larry long enough for SpongeBob to grab the shovel and pail. SpongeBob's grandmother, believing him to be Patrick, tells SpongeBob that she is making a pie but has no Sea Urchin Chips to put in it. SpongeBob then travels to Barg N' Mart where Mr. Krabs is moonlighting as a salesmen and has sold his own clothes. After cleaning the cashier's car, SpongeBob gets the chips (also borrowing cooking oil from Mr. Krabs) and completes the pie. He brings it to Larry to eat, even though he's not suppose to eat it and after eating it, he is forced to go for a jog on the beach and this allows SpongeBob to take the shovel and pail. SpongeBob searches Goo Lagoon with the bucket and shovel and discovers that the Dutchman's Treasure is actually a chest full of bus tokens. Returning to the bus stop where Patrick has been waiting, SpongeBob meets the irritable bus driver who says he will not leave Bikini Bottom because there is a cloud in the sky and he fears rain on the trip. To calm him, SpongeBob gets a parasol (in which he mistakes it for an umbrella) from a tourist from the English Channel, however she needs the parasol to protect her skin, so SpongeBob trades the cooking oil he got from Mr. Krabs to a sunbathing guy for his sunscreen and trades the sunscreen for the parasol. The two set off for Neptune's Paradise but what they did not expect was...
Chapter 2: Hitting Rock Bottom[edit]
SpongeBob and Patrick end up in Rock Bottom, a town previously seen in an episode of SpongeBob SquarePants, due to heavy rain. Stuck at the bus station, SpongeBob gets information from the Information Desk and is told that there is a weather station down the street called WSEA TV (but not before getting a kelp bar for her). Outside the bus station, SpongeBob runs across a man who looks vaguely familiar, but the man denies ever having met SpongeBob. After taking the Kelpsi can he was kicking, SpongeBob sets off to the weather station. SpongeBob is told by the secretary at the weather station that unless he has business within that he can not walk around the station since the tours are closed and must have tools if he's here for business. SpongeBob meets a repairman named Jojo (who is trying to fix the antenna which isn't broken) behind the building who is willing to trade some of his tools for a Kelpsi soda. SpongeBob goes to a nearby restaurant and finds Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy in the parking lot. Mermaid Man is in pain on the ground after having had a cola drinking contest with Patrick, and SpongeBob and Barnacle Boy are not strong enough to lift him into the invisible boat mobile. SpongeBob walks inside and informs the owner, who is a very strong fish, of the situation outside. While he goes to help Mermaid Man, SpongeBob grabs a mug (also noticing a picture of Patirck and Mermaid Man on the wall) and uses it to gets Jojo's drink, which is actually lemon soda in the Kelpsi can he found. SpongeBob gets the tools and, now looking official, gets inside the station. He talks to a weatherman named Gary Gulper, who is stressed because he is sure his machinery is broken (at least he thinks it's broken) after displaying an area nearby that had perfect weather. He also boasts of building a machine that will control the weather and tells SpongeBob of rumors that the current rain is being created by Marlin the wizard. SpongeBob looks at the machinery and discovers the area of perfect weather is a local sea cave. SpongeBob takes his adventure there and finds this cave to be the home of Marlin the wizard. Marlin is causing the rain because he is upset at what Gary is doing. He feels threatened by the weather controlling machine since controlling the weather is his job. Marlin asks SpongeBob to destroy the machine (also giving him a wand that he sealed the door to the machine with) and SpongeBob retrieves Patrick, who is sleeping in Marlin's hammock, and returns to the weather station. The two destroy the weather machine! But not before SpongeBob helps Plankton make an advertisement for the Chum Bucket under the impression that Plankton was making a public service announcement (promising a reward if he helps him). Now satisfied, Marlin stops the rain and the pair continue their travel to Neptune's Paradise, but before that SpongeBob must face...
Chapter 3: Back to Square One[edit]
SpongeBob and Patrick get kicked off the bus for their antics, and are back in Bikini Bottom. They find out that Sandy is building a rocket that can take them to Neptune's Paradise leading SpongeBob to tackle numerous challenges so as to prepare for the flight. After delivering Sandy's lunch from a local diner, SpongeBob realizes he must first return home for his water helmet before boarding the rocket inside Sandy's treedome . When he return's home, he finds a sea snake resting in the helmet and SpongeBob decides to use Squidward's clarinet to lure it out. However, Squidward is in a deep sleep so SpongeBob visits a local knick-knack store and grabs a pair of free Dream Glasses that allow him to travel to the dreams of a nearby sleeping friend. At the store, SpongeBob again sees the Familiar Man and, now certain the two have previously met, demands to know the man's identity while the man again denies ever meeting SpongeBob. He returns to Squidward's home and enters his dreams where he is transformed into Squidward himself (but not completely) and talks with Squidward (while trying to sound like him) that this area of his brain is for dancing and he will take over the recital part on the other side, so Squidward gives him the clarinet and begins dancing. SpongeBob gets the sea snake out of his water helmet and goes to Sandy's tree dome, now wearing the water helmet, and helps her find an oxygen fuel tank. Meanwhile, Patrick remains at the diner and obtains the record for most sandwiches eaten at that facility. The gang then sets off again for Neptune's Paradise but SpongeBob must cheer and cry for joy.
Chapter 4: Bottoms Up![edit]
Sandy's rocket crashes (bursting through a sign in the process), and they get stuck in Bottoms Up, an up class town for the incredibly wealthy. SpongeBob must find oxygen fuel for the rocket leading him on a quest for a jacket so as to gain entrance to a local oxygen spring (since he must be wearing a jacket to get in). Along the way he involves himself in the troubles of a local who believes his neighbor has stolen a golden coconut from his tree. After trading the golden coconut with a normal coconut he found, he returns it to its owner who rewards him with a quarter. He repairs the sign they crashed through earlier which shows a restaurant which has jackets when guests arrive without one (but always take them back when their done). He goes to a nearly phone booth and uses his quarter to call them, asking them where they are. But when he arrives, the guard won't let him in since he doesn't have an invitation to the party at the restaurant. The owner of the store nearby has one to give out to someone who guesses the slogin for the restaurant. After seeing the restaurant's slogin from a watching point, he is able to get the invitation and go inside the restaurant. SpongeBob gets a jacket and insults the waiter by ordering a Krabby Patty and he is thrown out before anybody realizes he has one of the restaurant's jackets. Meanwhile, Patrick is on the search for a bathroom after eating junk food in the previous chapters which leads him to climb over the coral reefs surrounding the oxygen springs. After the use of the bathroom, Patrick enjoys the springs until SpongeBob finds him and he realizes he is not wearing pants, then asking SpongeBob to retrieve them. While looking in the bathroom for Patrick's shorts, SpongeBob again meets the Familiar Man who doesn't remember seeing him. After SpongeBob sees two more Familiar men coming through, he informs SpongeBob that he has over a thousand twin brothers which means that each Familiar Man was in fact a different person. After finding Patrick's pants and refilling the oxygen tanks they leave for Neptune's Paradise before the park is closed.
Finale[edit]
The gang gets to Neptune's Paradise, but an employee tells them that the park is closed to make way for a private party. SpongeBob and Patrick were sad at first, but Sandy tells the employee that it is their party, and they are allowed into the park, where they meet all of the characters they met along the way (who seemed to plan this for SpongeBob). They all then ride the rides and attractions (à la National Lampoon's Vacation).

Gameplay[edit]
Patrick in Goo Lagoon
Players control SpongeBob, Patrick and Sandy (except in the GBA and PC version, where in the GBA version, players controls SpongeBob only. In the PC version you can play as SpongeBob in various parts of Bikini Bottom.) Players also battle robot bosses such as Sandy, Plankton, Squidward, Patrick, and SpongeBob (Though you can only battle Robot Squidward in the GBA version). Players can also switch between characters at bus stops throughout the game. Core gameplay involves collecting items and defeating the robots which have attacked Bikini Bottom, whilst crossing platforms and avoiding environmental hazards like spikes and flames. A number of mini-games are also accessible throughout the game, like Whack-A-Tiki, The Rolling Ball, Ske-Ball, The Funnel Machines, or Cruise Bubble Challenge.
The core gameplay resembles other 3D platformers like Super Mario 64 and Banjo-Kazooie, requiring players to collect three main types of items. Shiny objects are the game's currency, and can be used to pay tolls within game areas or to buy golden spatulas from Mr. Krabs.[1] Golden spatulas are used to grant access to new areas, they are hidden throughout the game and can also be earned by completing tasks set by Squidward and several other characters from the cartoon. Patrick's socks are spread throughout the game and are traded with him for golden spatulas (only if you bring 10 of his socks).
Props are also included in the game. Trampolines help the player bounce to farther ledges or platforms. Buttons activate special appearances. Pressure Pads are like buttons, but they are big metal squares with feet. Sandy can swing from Texas hooks. SpongeBob can dive downward on a bungee hook. Patrick can pick up and throw a watermelon, freeze fruit, or fire fruit at any object. Fire Fruits are not that common in the game. They debuted a cameo when the big balls shot out of the volcanoes in Jellyfish Caves.
Though some areas can be navigated by any character, several sections can only be completed with a specific character, due to each one having unique abilities. SpongeBob can create a bubble helmet for head-butting enemies. Patrick can throw objects at buttons, robots, and freeze liquids. Sandy can glide over large gaps with her lasso.
Gameplay for the GBA version is much different, as it is simply a 2D game.
Plot[edit]
The game revolves around the theme of robots invading Bikini Bottom, SpongeBob's hometown. The robots were created by Plankton, the evil genius owner of the Chum Bucket, who has built a new machine called the Duplicatotron 3000 to produce an army of robots to take over the world using these robots, but only after he creates them does he realizes that the switch on the Duplicatotron has accidentally been switched to "Don't Obey" and the robots quickly kick him out of the Chum Bucket before taking over it.
SpongeBob and Patrick were playing with toy robots and wish they would with real robots. Patrick uses his "magic wishing shell" to make their wish come true, hoping they will show up tomorrow. SpongeBob wakes up to find that his house has been trashed after thinking he wants to play with a robot. He wanders through the house for a while and receives a fax from Mr. Krabs, stating that he would give SpongeBob a golden spatula for every certain amount of shiny objects he collects for him. Outside, SpongeBob finds a disappointed Plankton, who weaves a tale of lies to the hero, claiming that the robots showed up out of nowhere and kicked him out. Fooled by the diminutive villain, SpongeBob embarks on a perilous quest to find golden spatulas, get rid of the robots, trading shiny objects to Mr. Krabs for golden spatulas, searching for Patrick's stolen socks (that had been taken by the robots) who will give him golden spatulas if he brings back ten socks, and getting Plankton back into the Chum Bucket, including bungee jumping, bubble blowing, learning new bubble moves from Bubble Buddy, and traveling through dreams among others.
He travels to Jellyfish fields and fights King Jellyfish to get some of its jelly back to Squidward (who has been stung by jellyfish). King Neptune calls SpongeBob and Patrick to the Posidome to defeat Robot Sandy. SpongeBob goes to the Mermalair and fights Prawn, one of Mermaid Man's archenemies. Later SpongeBob and Sandy save Squidward from Robot Patrick. After SpongeBob takes back the Flying Dutchman's ship from the robots, the Flying Dutchman, who promise a golden spatula for him if he gets back his ship, goes back on his deal in which Sandy fights him for it. SpongeBob creates a bubble formed ship to trade for the golden spatula. After SpongeBob, Patrick, Sandy, and Squidward gain access to the Chum Bucket they discover Robot SpongeBob and Robot Plankton, also learning that Plankton was responsible for making the robots. SpongeBob fights his robot self and Robot Plankton. After defeating them, SpongeBob hoped Plankton learned his "lesson". Many Robot Planktons come out and they begin arguing (along with the original one the survived the battle). However, robots are still causing trouble in Bikini Bottom in which the gang continue to fight for it.The game ends with a special surprise cutscene of all the characters in the game singing the theme song(if you collect all 100 golden spatulas)
Platform/PC Version[edit]
Opening: Plankton created a robot army to steal the krabby patty recipe, but he had it set to disobey mode, so the robots ignored Plankton's orders and attacked Bikini Bottom instead. Meanwhile, SpongeBob and Patrick are playing with toy robots and having a tea party with them too. They wish that robots were people too, so Patrick put the toy robot in his magic wishing shell, and tells SpongeBob that he has to sleep for it to work. The next morning, the robots break into SpongeBob's house and vandalize it along with the rest of Bikini Bottom. SpongeBob and Patrick go into The Chum Bucket to see that Plankton was the one behind the robot invasion. Plankton admits that it was his fault and that the robots are not listening to him and the only way to control the robots is to set the switch to obey mode. Instead, Patrick fools around with the machine, playing with the obey switch, but he accidentally pulled off the obey switch, which turned off the machine and deprogramed the robots. Plankton tells them that that was his next idea. After SpongeBob and Patrick head out, Plankton tries to tell them that he will be back with another plan.
GBA Version[edit]
Opening: Plankton created an army of robots to steal the krabby patty formula, but the duplicatron was set to disobey, so the robots ignored Plankton and attacked Bikini Bottom. The next morning, SpongeBob and friends saw robots invading Bikini Bottom, which Mr. Krabs thinks is putting him out of business, so his assignment for SpongeBob is to fight the robots to get into The Chum Bucket to shut down Plankton's duplicatron with the help of Mystery the seahorse.

IGN 7.3 out of 10[8]
Battle for Bikini Bottom was well received. It received a 4.5 out of 5 from Official PlayStation Magazine. IGN gave the game a 7.3 out of 10, praising the sound, graphical style, and gameplay, saying, "While it's generic collect, jump, and kill mechanics, the variety and general SpongeBob zaniness keep things fresh".[8]
The game has won numerous awards, including favorite video game at 2004 Kids' Choice Awards,[9] and entered the Player's Choice, Platinum Hits, and Greatest Hits for GameCube, Xbox, and PlayStation 2 respectively.

Plot[edit]
The plot of the video game is very similar to the film. King Neptune's crown has been stolen by Plankton and SpongeBob and Patrick must retrieve it from where Plankton sold it to: Shell City. A few areas in the game are not seen in the film, such as where SpongeBob and Patrick must escape Gooberland (their dreams) by following the Goofy Goober in the Patty Wagon.[1] And later again to the Krusty Krab 2, in the Patty Wagon (requiring several Goober Tokens to get it back as this is in their reality, not their dreams).
Gameplay[edit]
Console versions - The gameplay is similar to that from the previous game, Battle for Bikini Bottom. There are 18 levels in the game that loosely follow the storyline of the movie. In each level, there are many different types of "tasks":
Platforming, taken majorly from level concepts in Battle for Bikini Bottom.
"Spongeball" returning minorly from SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom, are levels which are a spinoff of Super Monkey Ball.
"Floating Block Challenges" where Patrick must navigate through a bunch of blocks (with many conditions like bouncing, disappearing, spikes, and rotation), taken from minor appearances in Battle for Bikini Bottom.
"Combat Arena Challenges" where you defeat 3 waves of enemies.
"Sonic Wave Guitar" challenges where SpongeBob must direct a flying guitar wave through rings.
Driving challenges using mini-tubs and cars; each challenge has the main challenge where you get to the end, 2 time challenges and a ring challenge.
4 boss battles.
Items
Plan Z Crates - These are, in fact, crates with Plan Z Signs on them. They are easy to defeat, and are like the Ordinary Tiki from BFBB. They also earn you Manliness Points.
Manliness Points - These are weights, which they are points that can upgrade moves and health, such as defeating an enemy or destroying crates.
Plan Z Balloon Box - These crates float up in the air with a special balloon, and can only be defeated by using SpongeBob's Bash Move. Similar to the Floating Tiki from BFBB.
Plan Z Supply Computer - These are tricky to defeat, and disappear when you get too close. These can only be defeated when using SpongeBob's Spongebowl and Sonic Wave, or Patrick's Throw. Similar to the Shhh Tiki from BFBB.
Thunder Barrel Crate - These look like TNT barrels, which explode, and you get hurt if you get too close after touching it. Similar to Thunder Tiki from BFBB.
Treasure Chests - These are hidden in about every level, and collect them so you get extra stuff, such as costumes, movie clips, art packs and sounds from the game which some are not heard. Collect All 42 Chests so you get something very special. Similar to Patrick's Socks from BFBB.
Time Extension Rings - These appear in Patty Wagon Levels, Sonic Wave Guitar Levels, Sliding Levels, and others. Yellow Rings are okay to pass through. When they appear red, you need to get through quickly are you'll lose and have to start over. These are tricky in later ring challenges after Sandwich Driving 101.
Krabby Patties - These are scattered in most levels to give you health, and if they all run out, that's bad! Similar to the underwear from BFBB.
Steel Safe - These are hard to crack open, some things like explosions can defeat these things.
Nitros - These are here to give you speed boosts, which are only seen in levels where you drive the Patty Wagon.
Throw Fruit and Freezy Fruit - These were seen in the game's predecessor, Battle for Bikini Bottom. Only Patrick can touch this once he has the throw move in the level Shell City, Dead Ahead. Throw Fruit is usually seen to defeat Merv(s) and push buttons. Freezy Fruit is usually seen to freeze liquids to earn a Goofy Goober Token, and like in BFBB, there is a time limit.
Bungee Hooks - These are first seen in the level Three...Thousand Miles To Shell City. Like the Throw Fruit and Freezy Fruit, Bungee Hooks were seen in BFBB, but in this game they are used to smash all targets to get a Goofy Goober Token. Only SpongeBob can bungee with his ol' SquarePants.
Buttons - These are seen usually to activate something. Like the Throw Fruit, Freezy Fruit, and the Bungee Hooks these were seen in BFBB, and they work the same way in both games.
Checkpoints - Walk past this thingymajig and if you lose, you restart from the last activated checkpoint. Like the Throw Fruit, Freezy Fruit, Bungee Hooks and Buttons these were seen in BFBB, and like the buttons they work the same way in both games.
Goo and Ice - SpongeBob and Patrick can't swim, so avoid goo. These were seen in BFBB as well. Also, on ice, watch your footing!
Ice Blocks - If you see ice suspended from balloons, and press a certain button, Patrick will use his tongue as a rope to get across.
Paddlewheel - This first appears in Now That We're Men when you use the Spongebowl. Like the buttons, these are seen to activate something. These were originally seen in BFBB for the strikingly similar Bubble Bowl.
Bash Platforms - These appear as red circles with a fist in the middle. Usually seen to show that balloon boxes are above and SpongeBob can bash them.
Port-O-Head - These are usually at the end of the level or next to a challenge the player has to do with SpongeBob when playing as Patrick or Patrick when playing as SpongeBob.
Springboards - Land on this thingymajig and you'll be sent flying to a certain area. These were seen in BFBB.
Teleport Boxes - Use these boxes to teleport between two different points in a level. They'll allow to skip areas you've already been to or go back and replay certain sections. These were seen in BFBB.
Wall Jump - When seen, allow SpongeBob to jump on them by pressing a certain button. These were seen in BFBB.
Hiding Platforms - These are first seen in I'm Ready...Depression as giant chewy gumballs, in Shell City, Dead Ahead as black trash, and last seen in Welcome To Planktopolis...Minions as mini Plankton statues. When SpongeBob or Patrick gets near them, usually enemies come out.
Each completion of a challenge grants the player with a Goofy Goober Token. In order to learn the moves required to advance in levels and the stories, SpongeBob and Patrick will have to complete these side missions (like the extra driving and minigame challenges) to get these tokens. SpongeBob and Patrick have a few moves, and when they get a sufficient amount of points, they can upgrade a move (e.g. increasing their max health).
PC version - The gameplay is similar to that of Employee of the Month. The game consists of 8 chapters. It mainly follows around SpongeBob and Patrick a various number of locations (e.g. the Trench). Unlike the console versions, there is no save feature; instead, players are given a variety of level passwords as they progress through the game.
Game Boy Advance version - There are 6 worlds to progress through, plus many bonus levels.
Awards[edit]
Platinum Hits for the Xbox[2]
Sony Greatest Hits for the PlayStation 2
Players Choice for the Nintendo GameCube[3]
Easter eggs[edit]
In the PC version, in Squidward's house, there is a chalkboard displaying his new phone number and a picture of Flatts the Flounder beating up SpongeBob.
In the home console version, a license plate reading "HVY-IRN" can be seen in "Shell City, Dead Ahead", referencing the game's developer, Heavy Iron Studios.
Reception[edit]
The PS2 version was noted by Play Magazine as "a full blown AAA platformer".
PlayStation 3 Port[edit]
On February 5, 2012 (7 years after the game's release), it was officially revealed that The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie would be coming to the PlayStation Store as a PS2 Classic on February 7, 2012. [4] It was later taken off the store for an unknown reason. The HD version can still be purchased, however, as a download code from GameStop.com. [5]

Every location has three minigames with it.
Story Mode[edit]
Bronze mode is the first mode of Story Mode. This is the first movie of the series. Many of the minigames are set so that they will be "easy" to play. Silver mode is the second mode of Story Mode. This is also the second movie of the series. All of the minigames are ramped up so that they will be a little more difficult to play than bronze mode. Gold mode is the third, and final mode of Story Mode. Since, this is the final mode, this is also the final movie of the series. All of the minigames are at the hardest level possible in this mode.

Reception[edit]
IGN gave this game a generally good review. They gave it 8.5 points on its presentation, saying, "Makes excellent use of the license. Great, humorous cinemas and a fun storyline. A decent selection of mini-games. Slick menus. Some minor load times." They gave 7+ points to the graphics of the game, the sound, and the gameplay. A few negative reviews from IGN was that the dialogue was really repetitive. Also, saying the game lacked depth. IGN gave it a 7 overall rating.[4]

SpongeBob SquarePants: Creature from the Krusty Krab is a video game for the Nintendo GameCube, PlayStation 2, Game Boy Advance, Nintendo DS, and Wii developed by Blitz Games and published by THQ. It stars SpongeBob SquarePants, his best friend Patrick Star and their enemy Sheldon J. Plankton as they journey to nine different worlds, supposedly, inside the dreams of the characters. The Wii version was a North American launch title for Wii. It is also the first SpongeBob game released in Japan (Sony PlayStation 2 and Nintendo Wii versions), but was released under the title: "Spongebob" (スポンジ・ボブ Suponjibobu), to mark it as the first video game in the SpongeBob series to have a Japanese release.

Gameplay[edit]
Players have access to three playable characters during the game, SpongeBob SquarePants, Patrick Starfishman (Patrick Star in superhero form), and Sheldon J. Plankton, and must guide them through nine levels of play in a dreamworld.[1] Four different types of gameplay have been incorporated into the game, known as flying; rampaging; racing and platforming. During flying sections the game sets obstacles one in front of another, and the player must maneuver past them. In most cases, the game will tell the player which way to fly (up, down, left and right). On the Wii, you use the controller like an actual plane control stick. The most common cases of this is when SpongeBob uses his plane to attack a giant-sized Plankton.[2] In rampage levels the player controls a giant sized Plankton and uses special powers and moves to destroy everything in their path.[3] The player's laser's power is indicated by a bar on the right side of the screen, which refills after use. The Wii version features controller movements that respectively activate moves. Racing gameplay is similar to most racing games; it is featured in both the air and the ground's gameplay, fuel must be collected in order to keep the player's vehicle running.[4] The platforming gameplay is spread throughout the game, such as when Plankton must escape from a live Krabby Patty or when Patrick Starfishman saves Bikini Bottom from his evil form, Dreaded Patrick.[5]
Development[edit]
Developer Blitz Games had a meeting with staff from THQ during the 2005 E3 trade show, where they were asked to oversee and develop the SpongeBob SquarePants franchise. THQ staff revealed that they had an "intimate" business relationship with Nintendo, and that Nintendo had expressed an interest in having a SpongeBob game published on their new console, the Wii, which at that point was still known by its development name Revolution. Blitz came up with several styles of play during development, some of which did not become part of the finished product. In particular, shooting sections using the Wiimote had been considered, but license holders Nickelodeon were uncomfortable with them due to SpongeBob SquarePants being a cartoon.[6] Due to Blitz developing their own middleware with a focus on providing cross-platform compatibility, the main sections of the game such as driving and platforming are the same for each console version of the game. The mini game controls work differently on the Wii version of the game, the Nintendo console was the main focus of development. Extra development time was spent configuring the control methods for the Wiimote and the standard controllers used on the other consoles.[6]
The game was announced prior to the 2006 E3 show, and was first shown to journalists at that event.[7]

The game was nominated for an Annie Award for best animated video game in 2006.[15] It also won the award for favorite video game at the 2007 Kids' Choice Awards.[16] The game received average reviews in addition to some more positive or negative ratings. Nintendo Power referred to the game as the "most ambitious and most successful SpongeBob game to date" in their December 2006 issue.
Several reviewers noted that the fictional world does not resemble Bikini Bottom or the cartoon itself, that the game does not "feel" like a SpongeBob SquarePants title.
Key points brought out in the above reviews include:
The ease of navigating through each level.
The play control is both "perfect" and "responsive".
And key flaws brought out in the reviews include:
Bad graphics.
A continuous racing and 2D levels.

Plot[edit]
The game begins with SpongeBob and his friends escaping from Atlantis. Meanwhile, Plankton rampages around Atlantis with a tank he "borrowed" until he comes across the gang. Spongebob and Patrick begin to remember how they got into this mess. They began having a flashback the begins with them blowing bubbles until they got trapped in a big bubble that carries them into a cave. The duo make their way through the cave, avoiding ghost pirates and searching for ladders to venture deeper, where they find the missing half of the Atlantean Amulet (Patrick thinks it is related to Spongebob's ancestors because of the word "antis" on it). They take it to the Bikini Bottom Museum to see what it is, taking pictures of exhibits and taking down tourists and security blocking the way. Squidward believes it is the original part of the amulet, but is shocked when he sees the original half was still on the display stand where it should be. Sandy and Mr. Krabs tag along while walking in the museum. Squidward conjoins the two halves and the path to Atlantis is revealed: the path is a bus. The bus is powered by song, and the group starts to sing to get to Atlantis in which the bus crash lands along the way, forcing them to drive the bus around Atlantis to find the bus pieces and tool kits to fix the bus.
Once repairing the bus and arriving at Atlantis, the group is greeted by the Lord Royal Highness (or LRH). LRH gives them a tour around the Atlantean palace in which they had to avoid traps that were set around Atlantis for some reason. Mr. Krabs begins to collect some treasure to take with him with some help from Sandy and her bubble catching gun. Squidward poses for the artists in the art studio. Unbeknownest to them, Plankton hid in the Atlantis bus compartment on the way here. He plans to use the Atlantean weapons, the most advanced of all time, to destroy SpongeBob and his friends, and take over the world. After getting out of the bus, he sneaks around Atlantis and makes his way to the weapon room.
While taking pictures of attractions (also taking down tourists and Atlantian guards blocking his way), Patrick accidentally destroys the oldest living bubble and tell the truth to LRH who shows them the real bubble. Squidward reminds them that the bubble that Patrick destroyed was a prop for tourists. Patrick again accidentally pops it and the group must run from Atlantean forces, searching for paper clips to open doors, avoiding the guards, and Sandy uses Squidward as a gun to take down the troops. Plankton rampages around the city in his tank just like in the beginning and confronts the gang in which ends the duo's flashback of how they got here. He fires his weapon, but is shocked to see it shoots ice cream. LRH captures Plankton, believing he is a talking speck, and displays him as a replacement for the recently destroyed bubble and as a replacement to the national treasure of Atlantis. He then ordered one of his soldiers to throw away the amulet so that the troublemakers can't return. The soldier makes his way across Atlantis to the dumpster and tosses it in. Then the gang head home back to Bikini Bottom onboard the bus.
Game Play[edit]
Abilities[edit]
Console Systems
The main characters (SpongeBob, Patrick, Sandy, Squidward, Mr. Krabs and Plankton) have different abilities most often these abilities are related to them in one way or another. SpongeBob can use his spatula to flip things and open a portcullis. Patrick can lift other characters or an anchor and throw them over to another platform and then pull him across. Squidward, on the other hand, uses the tentacles on his feet to run across moving carpets and on treadmills to break open doors or a portcullis. Mr. Krabs uses his pockets to attract him to money and sometimes clear path by absorbing the money. He can also get across platforms by being attracted to the money across. Sandy uses her lasso to get over the gaps by grabbing bridge handles and opening the bridges herself by pulling the lasso. She can also grab things or other characters. As for Plankton, he doesn't have any special moves and can only be played as in certain missions.
Portable Systems
The main characters (except Plankton) are controlled in pairs. When you find a changing station, you can choose which two characters you want to control (Squidward is an NPC here). These characters have different abilities when 1 character picks up the other and then presses L and the character that's being held would do a special move. (For example, if SpongeBob picked up Sandy and the player pressed L, Sandy would flip in the air and do an exploding karate chop). This can only work with the Nintendo DS.
Reception[edit]

IGN [2]
GameSpot[3]
DS 6 6.8
Wii 5.3 6.2
PS2 5.1 6.0
GBA 5 5.5
The game received mostly mixed reviews. An IGN review of the Nintendo DS version was headlined "SpongeBob actually managed to be boring." Likewise, the most-criticized aspects of all versions was the clunky camera control, the lackluster AI, and the annoying method of having to return to the start of the level to switch characters. It was also called "too short" and "too easy" for older gamers.[4] A review of the Wii version called the game "second-rate", "sloppy", "tedious" and "really boring". The graphics were criticized for being "bland".[5] The PlayStation 2 version was criticized for the same reasons but were given a slightly lower rating because IGN says that Wiimote controls spice up the shooting games.[6]

Gameplay[edit]
[icon] This section requires expansion. (April 2009)
Within the game, the player creates their own character and populates the world of Bikini Bottom.[3] Players can also create their own customisable home in Bikini Bottom. The player has the ability to modify enemies and turn them into friends or allies, after stunning them. The game features a two-player VS. mode. There are over 20 levels in total. Unlike the original game's bosses, the hero now needs to stun the boss and wipe the boss' shadow goo with the stylus to inflict damage.
Plot[edit]
The game takes place after the events of the SpongeBob episode Frankendoodle. It begins with the clumsy artist once again at sea, who drops some magic pencils (two of them this time) into the ocean. One of the pencils lands on Patrick's head, while he was practicing his counting. The other pencil lands a far distance behind him. Patrick remembers that the pencil is a magical one that can bring drawings to life, however, there is one thing that he is not allowed to draw. He sketches the forbidden drawing on the ground trying to remember it. The drawing turns out to be DoodleBob (from the SpongeBob SquarePants episode "Frankendoodle") who springs back to life, steals Patrick's pencil, and runs off to downtown Bikini Bottom. Patrick is really worried of what he has done but is then visited by SpongeBob. When Patrick tells SpongeBob of DoodleBob's return, he too becomes worried. When SpongeBob tries to come up with a solution, he finds the second magic pencil, which he and Patrick can use to draw a hero to fend off DoodleBob's evil. This is where the player is able to draw their hero. SpongeBob and Patrick name the hero "Doodlepants", but shortly after his creation, SpongeBob is captured by DoodleBob's Doodle Dude Army.
After SpongeBob's rescue, the trio are informed by Squidward that Bikini Bottom is in complete turmoil ever since DoodleBob's return. Plus, DoodleBob took his clarinet. Doodlepants then must try to bring all of the Bikini Bottom residents back. After four levels, Doodlepants, SpongeBob, Patrick, and Squidward come to the presence of a giant Doodle Tower which is creating Doodle Dudes and Doodlebob is there. Squidward demands him to give him back his clarinet but Doodlebob does not understand what he says so they have Doodlepants speak to him. After the two doodles talk to each other in doodle language, Squidward gets tired of waiting and Doodlebob runs off. Doodlepants then climbs to the top of the building and fights a giant Doodle Robot. When the Robot is defeated, the group then catches up with DoodleBob who runs into the jungle with a rocket and a submarine. The group reaches a drawn pyramid which is where DoodleBob is hiding. Doodlepants goes in to fight DoodleBob, but before he is fully defeated (1% left) he runs out of the pyramid and disappears. The group suspects that either DoodleBob used the submarine to go to the deeper part of the ocean, or the rocket to the moon. It turns out he took the rocket so they use the submarine to go to the deep Pacific, which consists of Rock Bottom and The Flying Dutchman's Graveyard. When they reach the Dutchman's Ship, The Flying Dutchman tells them that they are responsible for Doodle Dudes taking over his ship. He is informed of this by Doodle Pat, Patrick's much more intelligent drawn counterpart. Doodlepants, SpongeBob, Patrick, and Squidward deny this but when Patrick slips out that he brought DoodleBob back to life, The Flying Dutchman puts the group in charge of getting rid of the Doodle Dudes from his Ship. Doodlepants fights Doodle Pat when the Flying Dutchman heard that Doodle Pat lied to him. After they return to Bikini Bottom they knew they must go to outer space, Sandy, who they had rescued earlier shows up. SpongeBob asks her to lend them her rocket but she refuses because of what SpongeBob and Patrick did to it the last time. She suggests to use their magic pencil to create a rocket. After making one the gang travels into space to catch up with DoodleBob. They find Doodle Bottom, a drawn version of Bikini Bottom that DoodleBob drew on the moon. The second time you catch up with DoodleBob and defeat him, the trio will get back Squidward's clarinet, but while their backs are turned, DoodleBob will escape in a rocket. Doodlepants must chase him in his rocket, and when Doodlepants lands on an asteroid close to the moon, DoodleBob is gigantic and has an evil, red face. After Doodlepants defeats him, SpongeBob realizes that DoodleBob created Doodle Bottom because he was very lonely, so he erases his mean face and turns him happy. Then SpongeBob, Patrick, and Squidward leaves Doodlepants behind to keep Doodlebob company. After the player beats the first 4 worlds (Bikini Bottom, The Jungle, Deep Sea, and Space), a bonus world called Notebook Land is unlocked. In Notebook Land, the world can sometimes be sideways or upside-down and that affects the control pad buttons. Notebook Land only has one level called Note World and one boss level called The Last Battle. The boss of Notebook Land is Doodle Squidward (and there's a mini-boss called Doodle Sandy). It is the Squidward that Patrick drew in "Frankendoodle" that looks like a bit like a jellyfish. Once the player beats Doodle Squidward, the game is over. But the player can still free any townsfolk they missed, clear any Doodle Goo that they might have overlooked, make coins to buy Mr. Krabs palettes or coloring books, and replay any level.
Reception[edit]
The game received generally positive reviews from critics, with IGN giving it a 7.5 while GameSpot gave it a slightly lower score with a 7.2.[4][5]

Plot[edit]
A storm current has disrupted a shipment of the undergarments of Lord of the Sea Neptune's underwear, spreading them across the ocean floor. Neptune has called upon his subjects to collect the lost undergarments, with a reward offered to the one who collects the most underwear.[3]
Gameplay[edit]
SpongeBob SquarePants: Underpants Slam gameplay screenshot.
Players progress through 10 levels of play by collecting 99 pairs of underwear in each.[4] Playable characters include SpongeBob SquarePants, Patrick Star, Eugene Krabs, Sheldon Plankton and Sandy Cheeks.[3][5] Levels are populated by jellyfish, who can swim away with pairs of underpants. These stolen underpants can only be retrieved by attacking the jellyfish, failure to attack at the right moment results in an electrical shock. Most pairs of underpants are scattered around levels, though several are hidden in objects such as pipes and boxes which must be destroyed. Power-ups such as a magnet to draw in nearby bloomers can be collected throughout the levels,[6] though some can have negative effects such as reversing the controls.[5]
Reception[edit]
The game received mixed to negative reviews from critics.[citation needed]

Plot[edit]
One seemingly normal day, SpongeBob and Squidward are on their way to work when huge asteroids start raining down on Bikini Bottom. A huge drop of goo falls on Squidward, causing the top part of his face to turn orange and become a cyclops of some sort. He becomes a zombie, chasing SpongeBob around the perimeter of someone's house until Patrick intervenes. Jimmy Neutron then arrives to take them to the Mawgu lair. Soon, the gooey creatures spawning from the asteroids start taking over Bikini Bottom...
SpongeBob and Patrick explore the vast Mawgu lair, where they meet Danny Phantom and Tak again and the new Evil Syndicate composed of Technus, Beautiful Gorgeous, Traloc, and Plankton. Zim and Dib then arrive, with Zim joining the good guys, and Dib joining the Syndicate. They make a plan to stop the gooey creatures, identified as Morphoids, when the Wise Old Crab arrives to inform them about the technology in the lair. Jimmy is able to figure it out, and fits everyone with weapons fitting their personality: Jimmy receives some sort of helmet and a tennis racket, SpongeBob gets a bubble blower, Danny receives a device that allowed him to partly clone himself, Tak is given a staff, and Zim receives a plunger (or as he refers to it, "a plunger of doom"). Meanwhile on the evil side, Technus receives an arm blaster, Plankton is given a hammer that allows him to grow (about to the height of Jimmy, Zim, and SpongeBob), Traloc receives a pouch of magic potions, Dib is given a gun-like balloon launcher, and Beautiful Gorgeous receives a heart-shaped megaphone.
They go through Bikini Bottom, and they meet Bubble Bass down with the last Krabby Patty he had in his bag. Checking if he has some more Krabby Patties in his bag, a blob of goo lands on his last Krabby Patty he had in his hands. He shoves the Patty with goo into his mouth, which makes him grow gigantic and become a zombie. They travel throughout Bikini Bottom, where the group battles an army of Morphoids, free Gary, Squidward, and Patrick from the Goo. They defeat this new menace by feeding him Krabby Patties (which ironically turned him into a zombie in the first place). When Bubble Bass can't eat anymore Krabby Patties, he vomits a large amount of goo... which land on SpongeBob. SpongeBob is then doused in goo, but doesn't mutate like the other people on Bikini Bottom. At the lair, when he was done being washed off the goo, he suddenly then says in an evil voice: "Your world will end! My Globs of Doom will rain over your world... and take control... Bwaa!! Haa!", while the Wise Old Crab informs them that a huge robot called the Vessel of Portentia is hidden in the Mawgu Lair, and requires four special components to power it up.
The next world they go to is Zim's town, where Gir was playing with a taco which happened to be the first component of the Vessel Of Portentia. When Zim demanded Gir to drop the component, a blob of goo rained down, landing on Gir, mutating him. Gir picks up the component, and runs away. While They manage to free Ms. Bitters, Gaz, and Professor Membrane, then face the corrupted Gir, who has sprouted several mechanical tentacles and has the ability to summon Morphoids from his very being, using his house to fight. He soon tires out of attacking the heroes, and is then beat up out of being possessed. The house drops some goo, which lands on SpongeBob (SpongeBob remarks "Hey! Is there a sign on me that says 'Goo Sponge'?"). When they retrieve the first piece, SpongeBob says: "We've got it! The first piece of the Vessel of..." which is then interrupted by the same evil voice that happened earlier. Saying: "... but it won't be enough to stop me from..." SpongeBob then talks in an even deeper voice, saying: " ... SMUGGLERING your insignificant planet!" The group finds out that the absorption of goo in SpongeBob's body is creating a wavelength so the leader of the Morphoids can talk through him. SpongeBob snaps out of it when he smells a Krabby Patty Patrick was holding.
They venture to Amity Park, where Morphoid asteroids rain on the citizens, freeing the Ghost Dog in the process. Not soon after, a blob of goo falls on its head, resulting in him too being mutated. He goes on a rampage through town. After freeing Dash, Tucker, and Jazz, they fight the Ghost Dog at a power plant, where Ghost Dog crashes into the wall, which his goo flies off. Right as the goo was about to land on SpongeBob, SpongeBob says: "I'm no Shaman, but I now what's gonna happen next.". SpongeBob is yet again splattered in goo. They gain another piece of the Vessel, and it is at the lair that Globulous Maximus, who has just revealed himself, once again talks through SpongeBob, saying: " Little yellow one... you are soft and squishy... and tiny absorbent. I... am Globulous Maximus! Ruler of the Morphoids!... I speak... through you..." The ordinary Krabby Patty smell didn't make SpongeBob snap out of it, so Technus had to flick SpongeBob's nose so he could snap out of the trance. SpongeBob tells his group that he saw Globulous Maximus (a similarity to the word "Gluteus Maximus") which was the ruler of the Morphoids, SpongeBob says he will bring Doom, Gloom, and Evil.
They then head to Retroville, where the goo has turned Jimmy's girl-eating plant into a monstrous giant, and prepares to eat Cindy whole (expectedly). After defeating several more Morphoids and freeing Carl, Cindy, and Sheen, they fight the girl-eating plant at the mall. After being consumed several times (and beating up the plant's fragile heart), the team manages to defeat the girl-eating plant which spits out a giant glob of goo. SpongeBob easily avoids the glob, but another glob lands right on top of him. The third piece of the Vessel is retrieved, though. SpongeBob states that Globulous Maximus was only a few lightyears away from Earth and was preparing to send more gigantic Morphoids to destroy it.
Finally, they go to Pupununu Village and find the fourth componet of the Vessel of Portentia covered in goo. SpongeBob pokes the goo to try and free the component, but ends up being covered in goo. He grabs the componet and races to the Mawgu Lair.
Back at the Mawgu lair, the evil voice of Globulous Maximus says: "Square, yellow creature of happieness...you are unlike anyone I have met before... I... have grown tired of my gooey life... and for the first moment since the beginning of time...I... Globulous Maximus... choose to become something else... SOMEONE else, actually... I choose to become... you..." Globulous' speech is briefly interrupted when the regular SpongeBob asks: "Me?". Globulous then continues: "Yes, you... I like you.. you are good... you are happy... you are wholesome... like homemade bread."
The team quickly inserts the pieces of the Vessel of Portentia, and then speed towards space, where they confront and defeat Globulous Maximus, who is a large asteroid himself with floating arms and a primary eye (along with several non-functioning others). After Globulous is defeated, the Evil Syndicate betrays the rest of the group because they wanted to capture Globulous for their own evil plans, taking over the Vessel of Portentia and ejecting the heroes from the robot. Globulous Maximus then opens up to the heroes, where he reveals that he was created at the beginning of the universe, the Big Sneeze (a similarity to the Big Bang), thus making him a huge orange booger. SpongeBob then asks why he was destroying worlds, with Globulous replying that he was distasteful of his form and thus took out his anger on others. SpongeBob then tells him to embrace who (or what) he is, and they throw Krabby Patties in his mouth to make him feel better. The group then wonders how they will stop the Evil Syndicate from taking over the Earth. Globulous states that he has an idea, and morphs into a huge, orange, and cycloptic version of SpongeBob.
Using this form, Globulous and the heroes manage to defeat the Vessel of Portentia on the moon, and it explodes in space, leaving the villains floating around. Dib thinks that this is the part where the villains retreat with their tails between their legs, but Plankton contradicts this statement, saying that it's the part where "the villains pound their fist and say 'Curses! Foiled again!'". Technus invites Plankton over to his hand, where he executes Plankton's statement, albeit with Technus pounding Plankton to a pulp on his palm.
Globulous returns the heroes to Earth, and says that he will right the wrongs in the universe, taking the moniker "SpongeGlob". The heroes bid him farewell, and SpongeGlob blasts off into space. Meanwhile, SpongeBob sneezes, and the goo finally exits from his body through his many holes. Patrick compares this moment to the beginning of the universe where SpongeGlob was born, while the Wise Old Crab then summons a typical "The End" sign.
Development[edit]
The music of SpongeBob SquarePants featuring Nicktoons: Globs of Doom was composed by Todd Masten. Masten noted that the story of the game had a "real 1950's sci-fi feel" and thus incorporated the theremin into many of the game's tracks. Masten based most of the game's music on the existing franchise music, but took several liberties including the use of heavy techno instruments in the scenes of the characters leaving the world and heading into space. Masten worked to give each environment and boss encounter a unique feel to help build suspense and tension. Masten worked 7/4 sections into the main theme to "mix things up a bit". The game's closing theme is a variation of the opening theme played with more modern instrumentation.[1]

Nicktoons: Globs of Doom received mostly negative reviews from critics. Louis Bedigian of GameZone described the Wii version as "a button-masher for gamers under 12" and decided that "it won't rock anyone's world, but if you know a kid who loves these Nicktoons characters and enjoys simple, battle-filled games, Globs of Doom is one of SpongeBob's better adventures.[8] Angelina Sandoval, also of GameZone, said that "Globs of Doom could have been that extraordinary kid's title and SpongeBob SquarePants game but it just falls short in almost every way. It's also not a very fun game despite the variety of characters and co-op gameplay. If your young gamer loves all of these characters I highly recommend a rental instead."[9] Adam Ballard of IGN concluded that "Ultimately, it's a subpar SpongeBob game with Nicktoons tacked on for good measure. Suffice it to say that no amount of licensed characters can save this game from its monotonous gameplay and wretched camera."[10]

Plot[edit]
SpongeBob has been entrusted by Mr. Krabs to keep the Krabby Patty formula safe. But in all the excitement, SpongeBob loses the formula. He then relies on the help of the most unlikely companion, Plankton. With the help of his friends, SpongeBob must use Plankton's memory machine to retrace the happiest moments of his life (because according to SpongeBob, he's unable to remember anything when he's sad) to find the Krabby Patty formula in time for the Krusty Krab’s "eleventy seventh" anniversary. Little does SpongeBob know, however, that Plankton wants the formula for himself and has inserted robots into SpongeBob's memories to extract the precise location of the formula. But after breaking the controller, Plankton has no choice but to go inside SpongeBob's memories instead. SpongeBob travels through his memories, fighting robots and robot bosses that look like Patrick and Squidward. He then remembers the formula is in the Krusty Krab safe. Plankton finds this out however and turns the entire Chum Bucket into one giant Plankton-bot. After destroying it, SpongeBob tells Mr. Krabs the formula is in the safe. But then finds out it was in his back pocket the whole time. But later finds out it was Mr. Krabs' lottery ticket and that the real formula was in Mr. Krabs' back pocket the whole time.

Plot[edit]
At Mrs. Puff's Boating School, it's the last test of the year and SpongeBob fails, crashing into several buildings. As he sits on the steps on the entrance to the school, looking quite depressed, a shark named Seymour Scales arrives outside the school in a bus, to find SpongeBob sitting on the entrance ramp. Seymour then tricks him into his "D.R.I.V.E." (Destruction, Recklessness, Impairment, Velocity, Escape) classes. As the player progresses through the game, SpongeBob unlocks more friends to sign up. After the final exams, SpongeBob gets his boating licence. But Mrs. Puff informs him it's not real. Then, SpongeBob sees Seymour going into a truck, attempting to escape, after SpongeBob realizes that it was a scam. This leads to a final battle, fought in vehicles, in which SpongeBob wins. He then decides to go to Mrs. Puff's Boating School next year, and Seymour is sent to jail.
D.R.I.V.E. Classes[edit]
Destruction[edit]
The Destruction class is the first class in Seymour's D.R.I.V.E. lessons. It requires the player to smash into the other characters' boats and pick up the parts that are produced from the smash. In some tests, the player is required to reach a set amount of collected parts. In others, the player has to finish in the Top 3 to achieve either a ranking.
Recklessness[edit]
The second class in the D.R.I.V.E. lessons. This class requires the player to smash into other characters' boats, which awards points to the player. In some tests, the player is required to achieve a set score target, while in others, the player must place in the top 3 to receive a ranking.
Reckless Velocity[edit]
Reckless Velocity is a part of Recklessness, and is a combination of Recklessness and Velocity, which is the fourth class in the D.R.I.V.E series. Reckless Velocity requires players to complete a race within a certain time limit and also earn a certain amount of points to obtain a ranking.
Impairment[edit]
Impairment is the third class in the D.R.I.V.E. lessons. In this class, players must knock out the opposition players within a set time limit. When the player collides with an opposition player, stars form around that opponent, and they are briefly stopped in the current position. This gives the player the opportunity to repeatedly smash that player, eventually knocking them out.
Velocity[edit]
The fourth class in the D.R.I.V.E. lessons. In Velocity, the player must complete a race against up to 7 opponents as fast as possible. To achieve a ranking, the player must finish in top 3.
Escape[edit]
The final class in the D.R.I.V.E. lessons, the player must knock out the opponents, while they chase after the player. The damage done to opponents is increased massively, however damage done to the player is also increased. Escape occurs in waves, and at the end of each wave, the player's car will be slightly healed, the amount decreasing on each wave. The player must destroy as many cars as possible, again to achieve a ranking.

One of the Examples of the Nanogames is "That Takes the Spongecake", where the player tilts the tablet to help SpongeBob blow out all the birthday cake candles.
SpongeBob SquigglePants consists of over 100 mini-games (or Nanogames) which require using the uDraw GameTablet. Each game has a time limit of a few seconds and can only be tried five times before failing. Examples include "Flying Disc of the Deep", where the player flicks the stylus to toss a flying disc to Larry the Lobster; "That Takes the Spongecake", where the player tilts the tablet to help SpongeBob blow out all the birthday cake candles; and "A Bridge Abridged", where the player draws a quick line between two cliffs to create a bridge for Plankton to cross and grab his coveted Krabby Patty, which it's mini-games borrows its concept from the WarioWare series.
SpongeBob SquigglePants also features appearances from Patchy the Pirate, the president of the SpongeBob fan club, as its live-action host. Patchy guides players through the game and makes surprise appearances and interacts with players as they play the Nanogames. SpongeBob SquigglePants also lets players digitally draw, paint and color with a free-form drawing function, or choose from several SpongeBob-themed stamps. With the uDraw's exclusive ability to export art to the Wii system's SD card slot, players can also put their drawings aworthy of a place in Patchy's own collection of SpongeBob art – or their own refrigerator. The SD card capability also makes it possible to share artwork with friends via e-mail or save it to computer desktops.[3]
Development[edit]
The Wii version was first announced on THQ's official press release on April 12, 2011. Manuel wanted players to capture "the fun and excitement of SpongeBob and his friends and gives fans a new way to experience the world of Bikini Bottom.".
The game was also designed to treat fans to styles from the Nickelodeon vault, including "B-Movie," inspired by the days of drive-in movies and stylish horror films; "Sketch Bob," which gives the inhabitants of Bikini Bottom a freehand style look; "Simply Bob," a stylized and abstract interpretation of life under the sea; and many others.[4] The 3DS version was originally announced in Late March 2011.[5]
Reception[edit]
The Wii version of the game received mixed to average reviews. On Metacritic, it received a score of 57/100 based on 9 reviews.
Christopher Healy reviewed it for Common Sense Media, giving the game four out of five stars. Healy warned parents about the cartoon violence in few of the Mini-games but praised the game for its ease of play and messages about art.[6] In a review for USA Today on April 25, 2011, Jinny Gudmundsen awarded the game three out of four stars and said that the game was worthwhile because of its novel gameplay.[7] In Atomic Gamer's review on May 10, 2011, it was awarded an overall score of six out of ten and said "Spongebob Squigglepants is a great game to showcase this device, especially with the huge number of ways it uses the tablet and even pokes fun at other, more "mature" video games now and then. It won't be terribly engaging for an adult, but this is a fantastic gift for a little Spongebob fan".
In contrast, Cheat Code Central gave a score of 2.9 out of five and criticizing the game's repetitive music and average play value, stating "this mini-game doesn't work at all, most of the games in SpongeBob Squigglepants at least work, but the trouble is that the controls just aren't that intuitive."[8] The 3DS version also received mixed reviews as well, receiving a score of 69.83% as of June 22, 2011.[9] Dave Rudden of GamePro gave the game 3 stars, stating "THQ and Wayforward Technologies both deserve some credit for making a game that feels as close to a first-party effort as anything seen on the 3DS yet, as SpongeBob SquigglePants is the closest any game has ever come to matching the WarioWare formula. Unfortunately, the game's lack of new ideas, content, and worthwhile 3D effects sap any value out of this sponge.".[10]

Gameplay[edit]
Plankton's Robotic Revenge was developed to be a third-person shooter, similar to Transformers: Fall of Cybertron. Players can purchase and upgrade their weapons of choice. Home console versions of the game feature four-player co-op, whilst the Wii U version will allow for an additional fifth player when using a GamePad with four other controllers. Portable versions are solely single-player games. The confirmed playable characters include SpongeBob SquarePants, Patrick Star, Squidward Tentacles, Sandy Cheeks, and Mr. Krabs. Like in Dead Space 3, if the player chooses to play alone, SpongeBob will be the only character to play.
Plot[edit]
Despite having a similar plot, this game is not connected in any way to SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom released a decade before this game. A cargo ship drops batteries into the ocean. Plankton finds them and uses them to power his giant robot and robot army and takes the safe with the Krabby Patty secret formula. He also takes the map to the key and the two copies of it that opens the safe. SpongeBob and his friends have to stop him, defeat his robot minions and family members, retrieve the batteries, and find the three keys before he does to get the formula back. They fight Plankton in the Dutchman's Triangle, but he survives his defeat and retreats. The gang then fight two of Plankton's family members, who also have giant robots, in other areas. After getting the first two keys and batteries, they go back to the Krusty Krab and fight Plankton again. After he is defeated, they retrieve the last battery and find the last key under the doormat and use it to open the safe. In the bottle was a note saying the formula is in Mr. Krab's pocket the whole time and it is. Squidward was shocked that they've been through this for nothing. That night, when SpongeBob and Patrick were watching TV in Patrick's house, SpongeBob wonders where the batteries went and was amazed that Patrick's TV is working so well. It is then revealed that the batteries were powering the TV from the outside.
