Expeditie Robinson is a popular reality television program in the Netherlands, that debuted in 2000. It was the second production worldwide of a format that was developed in the UK, a format that has since then also been produced in many other countries, most notable under the title Survivor. The name of the show alludes to Robinson Crusoe, two stories featuring people marooned by shipwrecks.
The fifteenth season in 2013 will be the first season without contestants from Belgium, due to lack of television ratings in Belgium. However, the Flemish host Evi Hanssen will continue to co-host the show with Dutch host Dennis Weening.

In most seasons, sixteen contestants are put into a survival situation and compete in a variety of physical challenges. Early in each season, two teams compete, but later the teams are merged and the competitions become individual ("samensmelting"). At the end of each show, one contestant is eliminated by the other teams in a secret "Island Council" ballot.

Expeditie Robinson: 2001, was the second Dutch/Belgian version of the Swedish show Expedition Robinson, or Survivor as it is referred to in some countries. This season began airing on September 22, 2001 and concluded on December 25, 2001. The two original tribes this year were Lima (South Team) and Simbang (North Team) and the merged tribe was Periuk. The major twist this season occurred in episode 5 when Eric Buissink, Gwann Elzen, and Koenraad Schwagten competed in a challenge in order to determine which would return to the game in place of Hilde Jacobs, who left the competition in episode two. Koenraad won the challenge and joined the Simbang tribe. Ultimately, it was Richard Mackowiak from the Belgium who won the season over Pascale Mertens, who also came from Belgium with a jury vote of 7-0.

Expeditie Robinson: 2003, was the fourth Dutch/Belgian version of the Swedish show Expedition Robinson, or Survivor as it is referred to in some countries. This season began airing on September 13, 2003 and concluded on December 6, 2003. The major twist this season was that the team tribes were divided up by gender with the Timo tribe (South Team) initially being composed of seven males and one female, while the Pantai tribe (North Team) was composed of seven females and one male. As the only member of their gender on their respective tribes, Björn Lemeire and Fatima Aboulouafa were made leaders of their tribes and given immunity at their tribes first tribal council. A shocking discovery was made in episode 4 when Fatima was forced to leave the competition as it had been discovered that she was four months pregnant. In the same episode a tribal swap took place in which Giovani Oosters and Judge Chambliss from the Pantai tribe and Jutta Borms and Karen Vanautgaerden swapped tribes. In episode 7, the two tribes merged into a new tribe called Kelapa. Another twist occurred in episode 7 when following the merge and Karen's elimination, she was told that instead of just being eliminated all eliminated from then on would face off at "Devils Island", where they would take part in a series of duels. The winner of the final duel would then re-enter the game at the final three. The winner of the final duel was Ilona Laan. Ultimately, it was Jutta Borms from Belgium who won the season over Judge Chambliss from the Netherlands with an initial jury vote of 4-4, which was eventually broken by a public jury vote in which the public voted in favor of making Jutta the winner with 66% of the vote.

^1 Due to Fatima's evacuation in episode 4, no one was eliminated at the fourth tribal council. However, as Eric received the most votes at tribal council he was given a penalty vote at his tribes next tribal council.
^2 At the fifth tribal council both Eva and Judge received three votes. As the leader of the tribe, Björn was asked to cast the deciding vote.
^3 Due to Eric's voluntary exit in episode 6, no one was eliminated at the sixth tribal council. However, as Robin received the most votes at tribal council he was given a penalty vote at the next tribal council.
^4 At the ninth tribal council both Björn and Ryan received four votes. Because Björn had received more votes since the merge he was eliminated.
^5 In episode 11, the contestants competed in a reward challenge in which the winner would be allowed a second vote to cast at tribal council. Robin won the challenge.
^6 As there was initially a tie at the final tribal council, the public was given the right to cast the deciding vote through the results of a poll.

Expeditie Robinson 2004
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jump to: navigation, search
Expeditie Robinson: 2004, was the fifth Dutch/Belgian version of the Swedish show Expedition Robinson, or Survivor as it is referred to in some countries. This season began airing on September 5, 2004 and concluded on November 28, 2004. The major twist this season was that the team tribes were divided up by participants country of origin with one tribe, België (Belgium), being composed of contestants from Belgium and one tribe, Nederlands (Netherlands), being composed of contestants from the Netherlands. Another major twist this season came to light in episode 1, when after an initial elimination challenge the two eliminated contestants, Erestine Schweig and Sarah Bleecker, were told that instead of being eliminated they were going to live in an area known as the "Mangrove". From then on, any contestant that either lost a challenge or voted out were sent to the Mangrove. Throughout the competition many contestants living in the Mangrove were given opportunities to re-enter the game, however it was not until episode 9, when the contestants living in the Mangrove won a challenge against the merge tribe, known as Teluk, in order to re-enter the game. Another twist that occurred this season was that of a tribal swap which took place in episode 4. Following the Mangrove contestants return to the game, a power struggle ensued between the Belgian and Dutch contestants. Ultimately, it was Belgian contestant Frank Meulder who won the season over fellow Belgian Matthias Verscheure with an overwhelming majority jury vote of 10-2. Like the previous season, the public was asked to vote in case of a tie. The public, like most of the jury, voted in favor of Frank.

^1 Due to Henk's ejection in episode 2, no one was eliminated following the vote at tribal council. However, as Frouke received the most votes she was given a penalty vote at the next tribal council.
^2 Due to Patrick's voluntary exit in episode 4, no one was eliminated following the vote at tribal council. However, as Jeroen received the most votes he would have been given a penalty vote at the next tribal council.
^3 Due to Jeroen's voluntary exit in episode 5, no one was eliminated following the vote at tribal council. However, as Mitchell received the most votes he was given a penalty vote at the next tribal council.
^4 At the ninth tribal council both Darline and Klaar received four votes. Because of this, the two were forced to draw lots to determine who would be eliminated.
^5 Like in previous years, the public was allowed to give one jury vote through the results of a poll. The public voted for Frank.

Expeditie Robinson: 2005 was the sixth Dutch-Belgian version of the Swedish show Expedition Robinson, or Survivor as it is referred to in some countries. The season began airing on September 5, 2005, and concluded on November 28, 2005. The major twist this season was that the tribes were initially divided up by the participants' ages. The Jong (Young) tribe was composed of the contestants age 30 and under and the Oud (Old) tribe was composed of contestants over the age of 40. Unbeknownst to the original tribes, there was a secret third tribe that consisted of two contestants, Esther Jacobs and Marnix Allegaert, who were in their 30s, who lived in an area known as "Secret Island". These two contestants were soon joined by Douwe Popma, who had been voted out immediately after a challenge. In episode 4, the two original teams were dismantled and the remaining players were mixed up into new tribes known as the North and South teams. With these new tribes, all who had previously been living on the Secret island joined one of the two new tribes in the game and Nicole Hendriks, who had been eliminated in the previous episode, re-entered the game as a replacement for the large number of contestants who had left the game. Along with the new tribes came tribal leaders, who were elected in each episode and were immune at tribal council.
When the two tribes merged into Mensirip in episode 7, a new voting system was set in place in which each contestant was given six votes that they could cast at any time they wish. If some of these votes were not cast and a contestant made it to the final, three all of their remaining votes would automatically transfer to jury votes. Another addition to the game that appeared after the merge was "Winners Island", when a contestant won immunity they would be sent to Winners Island following the next tribal council. Once at Winners Island, they would battle one of the two other residents in a duel to determine who would stay on the island. Along with these, when a contestant finished last in an immunity competition, they would earn a penalty vote at tribal council. When it came time for the final vote, the jury vote was combined with the votes each contestant had left to cast as well as a public vote. In the end, it was Belgian Marnix Allegaert who won the season over fellow Belgians Emma Bossche and Marleen Moer with an overall vote of 16–9–3.

Expeditie Robinson: Battle of the Titans
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jump to: navigation, search
Expeditie Robinson: Strijd der Titanen (also known as Expeditie Robinson: Battle of the Titans), was a special All-Stars season of the Dutch/Belgian version of the Swedish show Expedition Robinson, or Survivor as it is referred to in some countries. This season began airing in March 2006 and concluded in July of that year. This season began with a surprise "plank" challenge in which the winner would automatically be immune from the first elimination and would be one of two contestants to be "leaders" of a tribe. As the winner of this challenge Ilona van der Laan, along with Veronique De Pryker, who Ilona picked as the person she got along with the least, picked their tribes from the fifteen other contestants. The last person not picked, Björn Lemeirel, was eliminated from the game. Another twist occurred in episode four when each tribe was asked to pick one player that they trusted the most. The North team chose Melvin Pigot, while the South team chose Richard Mackowia. These two contestants were both sent to a secret island called Entatula where the merge tribe of Panga would live. Eventually those living on the island had chosen all but Fleur Roozenburg, Lydia Guiso, Maxime Verbist, Ryan van Esch, and Veronique De Pryker to join them, they composed the Miniloc tribe and were forced to take part in a series of duels until only one remained and would return to the game. When it came time for the final four, the contestants took part in a couple of final challenges in order to determine who would be the finalists. The first of these challenges was won by Jennifer Smit while the second was won by Ryan van Esch. Ultimately, it was Ryan van Esch who won this season over Jennifer Smit by a jury vote of 4-2.

Expeditie Robinson 2006
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jump to: navigation, search
Expeditie Robinson: 2006, was the eighth Dutch/Belgian version of the Swedish show Expedition Robinson, or Survivor as it is referred to in some countries. This season began airing on August 28, 2006 and concluded on November 20, 2006. The major twist this season was that the tribes were initially divided up by gender with one "All-Star" contestant joining each tribe. These two All-Stars were, Klaar Lippe and Robin Ibens. Though the main twist may have seemed like a repeat of twists that occurred in previous seasons, unlike previous seasons with a similar twist this season male contestants were from Belgium and all females from the Netherlands. While the All-Star contestants weren't eligible to win, they could vote and following a tribal swap in episode 4, they could give any contestant on their tribe immunity at tribal council. Following the merge in episode 8, the twist that was "Losers Island", was introduced to the game. After a contestant was eliminated they would be sent to Losers island where they would wait until there were only two contestants left in the game at which point the six contestants on the island would vote for one of their own to return. When it came time to vote for a winner, the public, instead of a jury decided the winner. In the end, it was Olga Urashova who returned from Losers island in the final three, who won the season over Lenny Janssen with a public vote of 52% to Lenny's 48%.

^1 As Klaar and Robin were the two returning All-Stars this season neither could win or be voted out.
^2 As Susanna voluntarily left the competition in episode 1, no one was eliminated at the first tribal council.
^3 As Patricia voluntarily left the competition in episode 3, no one was eliminated at the second tribal council.
^4 When Klaar and Robin left the competition they each were allowed to grant one member of their tribe two votes at the first tribal council following the merge. Klaar chose Olga and Robin chose Ignazio.
^5 Immediately following Ignzaio's elimination, all contestants living on Loser's island voted for one of their own to return to the game. Olga won the vote and competed against Bernadette and Lenny in the final immunity challenge of the season. Lenny won the challenge and was immune from the final vote in which contestants that had lived on Loser's island voted for who of Bernadette and Lenny they wanted to see in the final two.
^6 It was decided that instead of having a jury vote this season, the winner would be decided by a public vote.

Season highlights[edit]
Major twist[edit]
The initial major twist this season was that for the first time in the history of any Survivor franchise worldwide one hundred contestants would take part in a single season. This twist, however, didn't last very long as in episode 2 twenty five of the contestants voluntarily left the game, in episode 3 twenty one contestants were eliminated as they were not picked to be on either the North team or the South team, in episode 4 thirteen members of the North team were eliminated following a loss in the first immunity challenge, in episode 5 the entire South team was eliminated following their loss at the second immunity challenge, and in episode 6 eight members of the North team were eliminated following an elimination challenge to determine who would be the final group of contestants that would make up the jury and final two.
Secret Island[edit]
From episode 6 on all eliminated contestants were sent to the "Secret island", those living on the island would each be given a chance to return to the game through a win at an immunity challenge or through a vote before the semi-finals. Aside from Nelleke and Kristien who left the competition in episode 10, and Frans who was ejected from episode 12, all contestants that went to the island remained there until the vote to return. Following the vote to return, Muriël returned to the competition. Muriel's return was short lived as she, Lieke, and Marcel were all eliminated in the semi-final rounds. Ultimately, it was Vincent who beat the odds and went on to win the season over Willem by a jury vote of 4-3.

^1 In episode 5, the tribes competed in a sudden death immunity challenge in which the losing tribe would be eliminated.
^2 In episode 6, the members of the red tribe competed in a sudden death individual challenge in order to determine which twelve contestants would be eligible to be part of the jury.
^3 Following the third tribal council vote, there was a tie between Loek and Muriël. As Muriël had received more votes than Loek at prior tribal councils she was eliminated.
^4 At the sixth tribal council, Lieke voided her own vote.
^5 Prior to the semi-finals, the contestants living on the Secret island took part in a series of challenges which if won would grant them extra votes in the vote for which contestant should return to the game.

Expedition Robinson: VIP, was the first celebrity version of Expedition Robinson, or Survivor as it is referred to in some countries, to air in Scandinavia and it aired in 2005. This was also one the first editions of Expedition Robinson in which more than one country participated as Denmark, Norway, and Sweden were each represented by five of the fifthteen celebrities who took part. As part of the multi-country twist this season the contestants were divided into tribes based on their countries of origin. Eventually Swedish celebrity Tilde Fröling won the season by a jury vote of 5-2 over Norwegian celebrity Jan Simonsen.

Survivor is a British reality television show that was broadcast on the ITV network for two series from 2001 to 2002. It is adapted from the original U.S. show of the same name and first launched in May 2001 with huge promotion and hype from the network and tabloid newspapers. The prize for the winner was £1 million.
It was generally considered a failure in the ratings, even though it was watched by more viewers than other reality shows at the time, including Big Brother.[1]

Format[edit]
A group of contestants (16 in the first series, 12 in the second) were marooned on a desert island and split into two tribes. For the first 20 days, the two tribes competed against each other in reward and immunity challenges. The tribe that won the reward challenge received a special treat that made their life on the island more comfortable. The tribe that won the immunity challenge was safe from any eliminations from the competition for three days.
Meanwhile, the tribe that lost the immunity challenge were forced to vote one of their own off the island. Contestants were free to discuss and scheme about who they wished to vote off, and many alliances were made and broken as the series progressed.
After 20 days, the remaining members of the two tribes merged into a single unit. Reward and immunity challenges were competed for on an individual basis, with the remaining contestants battling to prevent themselves from being voted off. After tribal merger, every contestant who was voted off joined a jury that would ultimately decide which of the two finalists won the £1,000,000 prize.

The series was perceived as being not very popular with UK viewers.[3][4] Despite initial media hype which surrounded the show, the debut episode opened with 6.6 million viewers, which was considered as a disappointment for ITV.[5] Ratings for the show then began to hang around the 5 million mark, which was half of the audience that the network had expected.[6]
The show initially aired four times a week on ITV. On Monday and Wednesday, highlights from the camp were shown, presented by Mark Austin who also spent 40 days on the island with the contestants. On Tuesday and Thursday, an interview was conducted with the latest contestant to be voted off the island, presented by John Leslie.
However, ITV later decided to air fewer episodes per week to give the show a greater opportunity to "grow",[7] but this failed to have an effect on viewing figures.[8] Nevertheless, the final show managed to attract 7.7 million viewers, peaking at 9 million.[9]
The show was won by Charlotte Hobrough. She was a member of Helang tribe, who were outnumbered by Ular tribe members at tribal merger. However, after successfully voting out everybody but her, the Ular tribe members began to vote against each other, allowing Charlotte to make it through to the final two, along with Jackie Carey. Hobrough won by a 7-0 vote. There was controversy when viewers were invited to phone in to cast their preference; this was via a premium rate phone call. Despite being told many times by the host that the phone vote would not be counted in the final tally, several viewers felt cheated. This was rectified for the second series, where the phone vote did count.

^Note 3 : Simon first voted for Uzma, causing a tie; however, in a revote, Simon changed his vote and voted for J.J., sending her home.
^Note 4 : Charlotte and Zoe were tied 3-3 at Tribal Council and in a Tribal Council countback Charlotte had 1 previous vote, but Zoe had 5, and she was eliminated.
Elimination Notes[edit]
Nick: Although Jackie was originally targeted for being the weakest player, most of Ular changed their minds and voted out Nick, as they felt he was taking control of the game too early. (5-3)
J.J.: Both J.J. and Uzma were in the hot seat, Uzma for being the weakest member and J.J. for being too domineering. At tribal council, they tied 4-4. The other players were then sent to a location where they could privately discuss, and then revote. A second vote (not aired) was tied after both Simon and James changed their votes (to J.J and Uzma respectively), cancelling one another out. On the third vote, both James and Simon voted for J.J. (4-4)
Uzma: Uzma's failure to redeem herself cost her dearly, and although Adrian and Charlotte ralied against Jayne, Helang felt Uzma's weakness was the reason why they were losing so much recently. Uzma voted for James. (4-2-1)
Sarah: Although Sarah and Eve felt safe in their alliance with Richard and Jackie, Eve attempted to make waves by campaigning to send Jackie out. Richard told the plans to Jackie, who in turn made a pact with the tribe outcast Zoe. Richard later convinced Sarah and Eve to stick with their alliance, but Jackie no longer intended to do the same. She convinced Richard to join her and the others in blindsiding Sarah. (5-2)
Jayne: Adrian and Jayne were the two targets; Jayne for her weak performance in challenges, and Adrian for his lack of work around camp. Ultimately, the tribe decided to keep the stronger physical player and vote Jayne out. (5-1)
Adrian: Two main duos existed in the Helang tribe: Andy & James, and Adrian & Charlotte. Simon promised loyalty to both groups, but at tribal council he betrayed Adrian and voted him out. (3-2)
Simon: The Ular alliance decided to vote out the Helang members one-by-one. Simon was first to go because Andy had won immunity and Ular bore Simon a grudge from an incident during one of the earlier challenges (6-2-1-1)
Andy: Andy was the next victim of the Ular alliance, as he was seen more of threat than Charlotte and James. (6-2-1)
James: The Ular members stuck together once again and voted out James, who they believed was a bigger threat than Charlotte. (6-1-1)
Pete: Although Charlotte was supposed to go, Pete lost immunity. The Ular members then saw their chance to vote him out, as they thought he was a physical threat as well as being well liked by the jury. Richard told Pete, who became angry at everyone except Charlotte and Richard. Pete secretly told Charlotte that he was next to go, and not her, which surprised her. Charlotte voted against Eve tactically to increase her votes in case of a tie in the future. Pete stuck the original plan and voted against Charlotte, hoping what Richard told him was wrong. Before leaving, Pete took the betrayal personally, and gave his bible to Richard. (5-1-1)
Zoe: Fed up with Eve and Zoe, Richard secretly broke away from the Ular alliance and convinced Charlotte and Jackie to form a new one. They decided to vote out Zoe for being too self-confident. The original and remaining alliance of Eve, Mick, and Zoe decided Charlotte's time was up and decided to vote her out. Charlotte and Zoe tied at tribal council 3-3. The tie would be broken by the amount of past votes the players had received. Charlotte had 1 previous vote against her, while Zoe had 5, eliminating her.
Eve: During the immunity challenge, Eve got on everyone's nerves, and isolated herself. Even Mick, Eve's only ally, decided he had had enough of her. At camp, Eve took some of Charlotte's tampons (although she later claimed she put some back) and a hidden bottle of ketchup which she drank alone in the jungle. When confronted at tribal council, Eve agreed that this had happened but claimed she had no regrets of doing it. She was then voted out. (4-1)
Mick: The alliance of Charlotte, Jackie, and Richard voted out their final non-aligned member, Mick. He was also considered a favorite of the jury, which contributed to his elimination. (3-1)
Richard: After winning the crucial final immunity challenge, Charlotte was safe from elimination. Jackie and Richard were forced to vote for each other. Charlotte voted out well-liked Richard as he was more of a physical and mental threat to her than unpopular Jackie. When the final vote was being cast, Richard knew he would be eliminated and whispered "Good luck" to Charlotte. (2-1)
Jackie: The jury disliked Jackie and felt she was carried to the end by the others. She received no votes. (0-7)
Charlotte: The jury was impressed that she was able to make it so far despite winning only 1 individual immunity challenge. She was also more likable than Jackie. She gained the votes of all the jury members: Andy, James, Pete, Zoe, Eve, Mick, and Richard. Andy and James voted for Charlotte since she was an ex-Helang member, Pete because he would only vote for Charlotte or Richard after being betrayed, Zoe because Charlotte "grew on her", Eve because she admitted that Charlotte did play a good game, Mick because of how Charlotte answered his questions compared to Jackie, and Richard because he felt Jackie didn't "understand the beauty" of the island and that Charlotte wasn't afraid to be who she was. Elimination Notes[edit]
Following the television portrayal of some of the contestants in the first series, most of those in the second felt that they would prefer to maintain allegiance to their alliances, even at the risk of their future in the game. John, for example, would say after Dave was voted off: "if someone had explained my tactics at the start of the game, then I wouldn't have believed that I would jeopardise such a significant amount of money just for some contract written in the sand four weeks ago with someone I had only met 48 hours previously. But it is how you want to be perceived and how you feel you have played the game."
Sarah: The South Island tribe deemed Sarah and Susannah as the weakest members. Although the tribe were disqualified due to Susannah's mistake in the immunity challenge, the tribe agreed to vote Sarah off at her request. (5-1)
Lee: Lee was voted off because John, Jonny and Susannah decided that their position was better if they kept Bridget, who was not interested in building alliances and who helped around camp. South Island were only in this position because of John's misjudged showboating when well ahead in the immunity challenge but again someone else paid for the mistake. (4-1)
Tayfun: Though Meeta had asked to be voted off if the opportunity arose, Tayfun was voted off because he did not fit in with the rest of his tribe. (5-1)
Meeta: Meeta asked to be voted off and North Island agreed to do so. (4-1)
N/A: The host announced a tribal council would not take place due to the merge.
Helen: The tribes chose to vote for Helen and Bridget following a deal between John, Jonny and Alastair during the immunity challenge. Helen lost to Bridget in the tiebreaker (a quiz about Panama) when the two former tribes voted against each other in two successive votes. (4-4, lost tiebreaker)
Alastair: After Helen's elimination, South Island proceeded to pick off the North Island members. Alastair, a physically very strong man was the first victim despite a last-ditch attempt by Drew to put herself forward in his place. (4-3)
Drew: South Island's second victim, Drew was seen as a bigger threat than Dave. Jonny voted for her despite a relationship developing between the two of them.(4-2)
Dave: South Island's final victim, as well as the final North Island member. Dave failed to win immunity and convince everyone else to vote against Bridget. (4-1)
Bridget: After Bridget lost immunity, she was voted off by the long-established alliance of John, Jonny, and Susannah. (3-1)
John: Susannah won immunity and held to an agreement that she believed was in place between her and Jonny, even though she believed John was less popular with the jury. (1-0)
Susannah: The jury felt she was carried to the final round by John and Jonny, as well as undeserving since she broke a rule at the first immunity challenge. She received significant hostility from the jury as her accent leant some to believe that she was "posh". She received no votes from the Jury and didn't win the public's 7th vote. (0-7)
Jonny: The jury saw him as the lesser of the two evils as well as the more deserving player. Jonny gained all the jury member's votes: Helen, Alistair, Drew, Dave, Bridget, and John. Jonny also received an extra vote from the public. Jonny is first and only person to never have a vote played against him in the UK edition of Survivor. (7 to 0)
Facts[edit]
There were several changes in the traditional format. The number of contestants was dropped to twelve, to allow viewers to get to know the cast better. Presenters Mark Austin and John Leslie were dropped in favour of Channel 4 cricket presenter Mark Nicholas. The show also was only broadcast in a once-a-week slot, on Wednesday nights, often at 9:45pm due to live Champions League football airing that night on ITV1. Each episode was split into two parts, a main one hour programme that contained highlights from the days on the island that were featured and a secondary, half-hour programme that aired after an interlude for the news, which featured the latest evicted contestant from the show involved in a private face-to-face interview with Nicholas.
In the fifth episode, the remaining players were merged and then told there would be no immunity this episode. At the Tribal Council they were then told nobody was being voted off that episode and that a vote by the television audience would act as a seventh jury member in the final vote. Other additions included tree mail. Contestants were given a cryptic clue about what the day's challenge would hold for them by producers.
Viewers were also promised that any major action - such as the sex that was edited out of a first series episode - would definitely be shown this year. There was extra footage available to digital viewers. An extra show, Survivor: Raw was shown on ITV2 after the main show had aired. This was presented by last year's winner, Charlotte Hobrough, and Ed Hall. It included extra footage not shown on the main show, discussions, interviews with evictees, phone-ins and emails.
The show was more predictable the second time around, as the contestants decided to stay loyal to each other after tribal merger. The former South Island members successfully voted off all of the remaining North Island members after merger.
The Grand Prize winner, Jonny Gibb, won by a 7-0 vote against Susannah Moffatt. The audience vote was 89% in his favor.
Surprisingly both winners were from the police force. Charlotte being a Detective Constable and Jonny a Police Detective.
Despite the changes, Survivor still received low viewing figures for its second series, largely due to its late timeslot which was criticised by fans whilst media experts believed this was a simple idea by ITV to place the programme into a "graveyard slot" just to fulfill contractual requirements. Subsequently, ITV decided not to bring it back for a third series. This is in stark contrast to the US version which has enjoyed consistent success and popularity.
ITV finally found a successful reality TV show with I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!, with many similarities to Survivor, and which received massive ratings in August 2002. The show's similarity in content to Survivor led many viewers (both in the UK and US) to believe that the shows had some licensing agreement, however this was not the case. Legal action was sought by CBS to prevent broadcast in the US however the court ruled against, stating that "Celebrity is different enough from Survivor that CBS would have difficulty prevailing in its underlying copyright infringement suit."[10]
1st series contestant Zoe Lyons, has since become a successful comedienne and has appeared on several BBC radio shows including Clive Anderson's Chat Room (BBC Radio 2), PMQ with Andy Parsons (BBC Radio 4), 4 Stands Up (BBC Radio 4) and The Jon Richardson Show (BBC 6 Music). She has also appeared on the BBC panel show Mock The Week twice.
