Pastor James David Manning of the ATLAH Worldwide Missionary Church in New York reports. 

Pinknews.UK. "I suspect that Kennedy and many of those who are on the Supreme Court have had sodomite relations themselves.” - I'm sure that's true for justice Ginsberg.  She's quite lively for her age.

He continued: “I suspect that many of these justices are having things done where they have got to support this sodomy, they’ve got to say it or otherwise they get exposed.”  Before the decision, I wanted to get some pillow talk time with my other boyfriend on the side, Justice Clarence "Chatterbox" Thomas, but he kept saying he was too busy.  I think he may have something for Scalia and is trying to avoid me.

Meanwhile, from the "Sometimes it snows in Alaska" department - Scientific American- "Homophobes Might Be Hidden Homosexuals - A new analysis of implicit bias and explicit sexual orientation statements may help to explain the underpinnings of anti-gay bullying and hate crimes."    That's 2012, but somehow it just came up on my radar screen.

No shit, Sherlock.

How low will some christians go to castigate those who take action for others' rights?  Pretty damned low, apparently.  And speaking of being "exposed," I wonder how much Rev. Manning's life would stand up to detailed scrutiny?

As far as I'm concerned, if Manning is a closet case - which is possible, I don't have inside info however - then he should be put into a box and mailed to the Levant to spend a weekend with ISIS.

Loren, you ask how low will the christians go? I can recall these same arguments, by the exact same type of christians, when I was a growing up in the Eisenhower, Kennedy and Johnson administrations, when black people were asking for basic human rights. How low can they go? Think Philadelphia, Mississippi, or the road to Selma. Then think Matthew Shepard, and Mark Carson.  They're not the bottom of the barrel. You find them when you pick up the barrel, and look underneath where the white worms eat the excrement.

The Trans Issue

I've seen a lot of discussion regarding the first three letters representing the LGBT community, but not a whole lot about that fourth one - T, or "Transgender," if you will.  Transgendered people and those who have to deal with gender dysphoria have their own unique set of problems to deal with, on top of the whole alternative sexuality issue, and these problems are neither trivial nor easily solved.
I'm pleased to say that two of my favorite atheists - Seth Andrews and Steve Shives - have very recently tackled this business head on.  Seth did so yesterday (18 August, 2015) with a lengthy and comprehensive podcast on "The Transgender Question."  Steve did so this morning (19 August, 2015), by turning over his "Five Stupid Things" series over to Stephanie Guttormson, who talked about five issues regarding gender transitioning, an issue she clearly knows first hand.
So ... this cis-gendered bisexual male decided that maybe it was time the Trans issue got a bit more attention here on Atheist Nexus.  That said, here is Steve and Stephanie's Five Stupid Things about Gender Transitioning and The Thinking Atheist Radio Podcast #234: The Transgender Question.

Thank you, Loren!  I am a cisgendered bisexual woman and I think this is definitely a topic that needs more discussion.  Both vids are awesome.  I think Seth Andrews did an awesome job with how he handled the discussion of these issues.  It is important for those of us who are cisgendered to educate ourselves on the issues of the transgendered and to adjust our cultural programming accordingly.

As it happens, I have known at least one trangendered woman (who was pretty neat!), as well as having a friend whose husband suffered from gender dysphoria and ended up going the full route, including gender reassignment surgery, which proved to be very successful both physiologically and psychologically.  I figure it isn't everyone who has had first-hand experience with people like that, so I had all the more reason to post these.

Interesting point during The Thinking Athiest by one of the panelists that I had not even considered before:  that transgendered individuals were so profoundly effected by the Supreme Court ruling on Same-sex Marriage.  It had never crossed my mind that someone who is transgender would have trouble getting married or that it would be completely up to a judge's discression as to whether to allow them to marry.

Just joined the group. Friend of and advocate for LGBT. I life near San Francisco so I'm not completely ignorant, but I would like to learn more so that I can be a better friend. Thank you for posting the transgender information.
