I guess that under the First Amendment, I have to respect a person's constitutional right to believe any silly thing that comes down the pike, but I don't have to respect what she/he/it believes. And I don't.

That is correct, and now that they have stated their beliefs publicly you can laugh yourself silly.

I do, often.
That's what finally shut my JW sister's mouth in this house. I happened to hear her say something totally ridiculous about the world ending soon (this was in the 1980s) on the phone, and I literally fell down laughing.
And the world is still here.

Imagine that you have a book that is telling you when and how the world ends. Who are the writers and how do they know? Falling down laughing is a normal reaction.

What Sk8eycat's JW sister said isn't surprising. The Jehovah's Witnesses always talk about how the world is going to "end" very soon and most of the human population is going to be killed by Yahweh's heavenly army. Armageddon or the Apocalypse as portrayed by Christianity has been announced by doomsday prophets and preachers for nearly 2,000 years and it still hasn't happened yet. They claim that we are living in the "last days", yet they don't seem to be preparing much for this event as much as they should, this would include the JW's.
