Liberty University ad and my thoughts on it

Liberty University, founded by Jerry Falwell doesn't strike me as being a very credible place to receive an education.  I certainly don't think that people who are interested in peer-reviewed Biblical studies that are created by Biblical scholars with verifiable credentials who is willing to have their beliefs challenged would benefit from attending such an institution. Fundamentalist Christianity does not look positively on higher education, especially secular education.  Look at all of these "Good News" clubs where adolescent children are being indoctrinated into believing a fundamentalist Christian theology that involves bullying other youths who are non-Christians or youths who aren't the "right kind of Christian", a fundamentalist Christianity that is not subject to spontaneous re-interpretation, that views all "sins" as being "equally bad" and that demands conformity and obedience at all costs.  It reminds me of the frightening documentary "Jesus Camp" about a fundamentalist Christian Bible camp that has roots in the Evangelical and Pentecostal movements which has connections to a Dominionist movement known as "Joel's Army" which is comprised of young adults who with a military-like fervor believe that they shall establish Yahweh's kingdom on earth by physically destroying all the persons that they view as being "enemies of God", who wish to establish a worldwide Christian theocracy based on a literal interpretation of the Bible that is inspired by "Joel's Army" theology and hold to an odd interpretation of the locust invasion in the Book of Joel in the Hebrew scriptures. The Southern Poverty Law Center wrote an article on "Joel's Army", see if you can find it.  It is quite a scary article to read.

I don't think that "liberty" has anything to do with Falwell's university. Especially since it was founded by a man who claimed that neo-Pagans, the ACLU, feminists, the LGBT community, liberals and people who support the right for women to terminate unwanted or unintended pregnancies were responsible for causing the terrorists attacks committed by extremist Muslims that occurred on September 11th, 2001. I don't believe that the "apologies" that were later made by Falwell or Pat Robertson were sincere.  I certainly don't think that Jerry Falwell was an "intellectual" nor do I think that he is worthy of any kind of praise, since he seemed to have dedicated his whole life towards basically hating other human beings and making life miserable for countless persons throughout the world. Personally, I don't consider that as being a legacy that is worthy of being proud of.  What do you think?

Sincerely,

B.W.
