It is true, speech may never be completely "free", however, a society that does not allow its citizens to openly or privately criticize the beliefs and practices of organized religion, just as it allows criticism of other ideas, that society cannot possibly be free.  The freedom to criticize is every bit as important as the right to say what you think.
