For me Liz fundementalists christians are all I know. They deny evolution, and science. Home school their children to avoid it. Make changes in public schools to deny it. In a county with over three hundred churches there are only three methodists and one catholic. That makes it easy for me to judge from my perspective. Or, I should say, hard to see from anothers perspective. My g-sons father, and the rest of my fundie family, are certain he will go to hell because he's gay. Because being gay is a choice he made. Also in their hell are catholics. Because in their words 'they aren't christians'. And jews and muslims. Anyone,in fact, who doesn't hold with their beliefs.

I have a few gay friends but I don't hold to or support the lifestyle. Personally I look at it as a "choice" you have made, and I know that nothing or nobody is going to change that. Certainly no imagined god with an imagined hell is going to change things, so why scare somebody with an imagined satan? What I mean here is that the "gay" things you are doing (male or female) is not going to be changed by threats from others real or imagined, and the average "gay" person is not shaking in fear and guilt because they have a desire to do homosexual things. They are who they think they should be, so leave it alone.
Yes, the average church person adds others to the "hell wagon" and all they have to do is be different. Fundy christians are terrible. I used to be one. Someday they can all say they have arrived in heaven. All 26 of them. Well, maybe not Bobby.

Dennis Michael Pennington is a nice guy but I disagree with his view
ReplyDeletethat he 'doesn't hold to or support the lifestyle' of gay people. Well, he
should hold to or support gay people being themselves. I disagree that
it is a 'choice' that they 'made'. Being gay isn't a 'choice' that homosexuals
make and he is right that nothing or nobody can change that. No god or
or no hell is going to change things so why use a devil being either.
They gay things people do male or female is not going to be changed
by threats from others whether the threats are real or imagined and the
average gay person is not going to shake in fear and guilt because
of their desire to do gay things and they are who they think they
should be. Dennis is a good guy but I disagree with him on this.
I don't think he should put the word gay in quotations. Gay people
will still have gay sex. That is so true. Dennis is in an interracial relationship
and that is perfectly fine. Unfortunately, some people don't hold to or support
interracial relationships either. Racially-motivated bigots and homophobes
really think like Bronze-Aged buffoons. Dennis may have a few gay
'friends' but I don't they care about his views on gay feelings or gay sex
and nor should his gay 'friends' care. They probably don't hold to or
support heterosexuality. Being gay is not a 'lifestyle' anymore than heterosexuality
or atheism. Dennis is an ex-Pentecostal and an atheist, BTW.
Dennis' comment made me think of a homophobic Jewish woman called
Jomomma on a website I read who says someday there will be a 'cure' for
homosexuality. I disagree. I don't believe that there will ever be a 'cure'
for homosexuality nor does homosexuality need a 'cure'. Homophobic Jewish
bigotry needs a cure. She also wondered if it were ethical for the government
to force gays to 'change'. No, Jomomma. Gays can't 'change' and it would
be immoral for the government to try and force them to. Even if being
gay were a choice, it still doesn't hurt anyone. So there is no need for
a 'cure' for homosexuality. Jomomma thought it was funny when a
gay man suggested a cure for heterosexuality and asked when she
chose to be straight. Jomomma is quite an idiot for assuming heterosexuals
are superior to homosexuals. Isn't this what fuels anti-semitic persons
and racial purists to assume people of color are inferior to caucasians?
Homosexuals are not inferior or superior to heterosexuals. They are
equal, Jomomma, grow up!
