As a humanist, I sympathize with the desire to bring religious teaching out of public schooling. I wholeheartedly stand with that effort. However, I feel that the AHA really needs to do a better job of coming up with solutions to these problems that are more robust than just threats. What I mean is that, yes, you stopped proselytizing religious beliefs to children, ultimately, a worthy accomplishment. In the process, however, you also prevented children in need of getting toys this holiday season, and the overall public opinion of the AHA's actions in this case seems to be overwhelmingly negative.
As an alternative, I feel it would have been VERY appropriate for you to publicly offer East Point Academy, and any other school for that matter, a secular means of donating toys, food, school supplies, etc. to the less fortunate. Now, you appear heartless to the public, however, you really missed an opportunity to accomplish your goal, help the less fortunate, and better your public image.
