Compassion: The Elixir Of Life?
huffingtonpost.com
Maybe compassion is the elixir of life. Perhaps the reason we've never found the mythical philosopher's stone is because we've always searched for something outside of ourselves. Compassion is an inside job.

The podcast of the audio from my first recorded cross-dressed religious service is up! The LDS church decided to assault, excommunicate, and ban me from all church property as a result of these visits.
 Stay tuned for my weekly releases and don't forget to 'like' and share!

Belial Spirit 68, Ag A strange green hue is noted surrounding the first of Belial suggesting radiation. I feel that this entity is dead and another has taken the place of Belial. The technology associated with Belial is alien or "angelic". A tone as per S-7 is similar to that of LUCIFER although comfortable. It is possible that a human like version of Belial now exists. Belial is said to be a king among spirits and was created next after LUCIFER. He governs 50 legions of spirit. -Aaron C. Hanson.

Predictions for 2014 and Beyond Here are key points of light or predictions that if true, will prove to show an impact. 1. Presently, I am seeing the rising possibility of India’s Narendra Modi to win a national election. 2. For the first time in America’s history, a woman will likely meet the long awaited challenge to effectively campaign for the position of either a Vice President or President concerning any party. I also believe that a voter based push against supporters of the Affordable Care Act prior to the national elections in 2016 will to some extent distort the views and expectations of the Republican Party. Success for any Republican Presidential Candidate in 2016 will largely depend upon the ability to effectively project acceptance without judgment. This means that “hatred” in the usual form of religiosity must no longer indiscreetly involve political platforms.* 3. As it has been since 2008, America will continue to fall further away from the promise of faith, belief, and extraordinary discovery. In essence, it will remain spiritually recalcitrant. Unexplained sightings, altered states, and other phenomena that normally provoke the imagination toward personal mythology, ritual, and creativity will wane throughout the world as it continues to look woefully upon a spiritually void, arrogant, and paternalist spoof that represents the current Administration of President Obama. Positively, I see this year as a period of transition for those crystal wielding kooks jammed within the embarrassing past trend of alternative healing non-sense, spoon bending, alien sexual abduction, psychic drum circles, and cosmic consciousness (laugh). It should also be known that reason is limited. This being said, I welcome the paradigm before us that will address the very real possibility of human extinction (see global warming). Just as it has been said that every man in a war ravaged trench will become a believer in some form of spirituality, I am saying that when a majority eventually accepts the possibility of their own extinction, a very serious form of spirituality will emerge. Should this be improperly managed, the era of reason will then be overcome. 4. Healthy youthful participation in the American Affordable Care Act will permanently fall short of requirements ensuring something less affordable and most impractical for the majority. Other plans will likely be suggested as the alternative to a wide range of failures. Many will reject any further change favoring the extreme difficulty of repeal. 5. A wide range of weather related problems will continue throughout the world suggesting that global warming is more than a serious threat. Unexpected changes will in turn influence political outcomes for 2016 and beyond. 6. Oil production in countries like the United States further isolates Israel as a front for influence within the oil rich region following WWII. Religious support wanes regardless of the underlying truth. 7. Do not fool yourself, Iran will eventually secure the technology to make an atomic bomb. 8. In Russia, the Olympics will be successful thanks to President Putin’s extreme effort to gain intelligence upon existing terrorist opportunities. Although the games are secure, planned activities may be found elsewhere. 9. Afghanistan and Iraq will remain lost to western interests. War in an overpopulated world of dwindling resources is easy to predict although nothing out of the ordinary is likely to emerge out of the year. There remains the danger of an Israeli strike or various strikes secondary to its own interests of security but this too is nothing out of the ordinary. 10. The economy for the United States will remain somewhat disappointing for those expecting a robust return in job numbers. Many will remain out of work and if anything is found, less income should be expected for the year 2014 and beyond. 11. As I have stated earlier in January, this year promises to be a difficult year for infectious disease throughout the world. Always get vaccinated when appropriate and remember that your finger nails are very much like inoculation needles carrying disease. Keep them short and never touch anything on your face without washing first. *Notice that I do not specify Hillary Clinton as President. This does not suggest that she will or will not meet the challenge as suggested but rather, a plan by the Republican Party might include a woman running mate or lead for President. Should a conservative woman run alongside of someone moderate like Mitt Romney, a victory is assured. At this moment a bid from someone like Hillary will largely depend upon the choices that Republicans make for the office at hand. A strong quietly pro-choice woman candidate on the side of the Republican Party would effectively fix any public comparison against Hillary during the primary, if she makes it that far. A Romp Through the Philosophy of Mind | University of Oxford Podcasts - Audio and Video Lectures

The mind is a fascinating entity. Where, after all, would we be without it? But what exactly is it? These days many people believe the mind simply is the brain. Descartes would have disagreed profoundly. He recommended a dualism of substance. Modern philosophers are again finding various forms of du...

With faith, courage and hope, every dream is achievable. If you dream, dream to succeed. May this Christmas, God bless you with determination, honesty and happiness. I wish you a Merry Christmas.
A single image from the world's most powerful survey instrument captured this spectacular skyview. Looking toward Sagittarius, the scene spans nearly 3 degrees or six times the width of the Full Moon. At bottom, upper right, and lower left it covers the Lagoon Nebula (M8), the Trifid Nebula (M20), and NGC 6559, in the crowded, dusty starfields of the central Milky Way. The adopted color scheme shows dust reddened starlight in red hues and normally red emission from hydrogen atoms in green. Built and operated by the Pan-STARRS project, the instrument features a 1.4 gigapixel (billion pixel) digital camera and telescope. Pan-STARRS, the Panoramic Survey Telescope & Rapid Response System, is intended to scan the skies for potentially dangerous near-earth asteroids and comets, exploring the Universe with a unique high resolution, wide field view.

Hubble's Mystic Mountain A colorful, craggy column of dust and gas dubbed the Mystic Mountain stars in a picture from the Hubble Space Telescope released April 23 as part of celebrations for Hubble's 20th anniversary. The picture highlights the results of star birth in the Carina nebula. (See astronomers' picks of some of the best Hubble pictures.) Hot, young stars in the nebula are constantly emitting radiation and charged particles that sculpt the cosmic cloud from the inside. Columns like this one are regions of matter dense enough to stand up to stellar erosion. ........Image courtesy NASA, ESA, M. Livio and the Hubble .......

Humanistic Mormonism is a movement of Freethinkers, Liberal Mormons, Cultural Mormons, Reform Mormons, Post-Mormons, Humanist, Transhumanist, Atheist, Agnostic, Secular Mormons, Disfellowshipped, Resigned, Excommunicated and/or Independents related to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and all other Latter Day Saint groups that have some connection with Mormon culture, identity, and/or history, but do not demand belief in a supernatural god, or the historicity of the Bible or the Book of Mormon. It is based on Humanism and can be summarized in some points:
 A Humanistic Mormon is someone who identifies with the history, culture, and future of the Mormon people;
 Mormonism is the historic culture of the Mormon people, and religion is only one part of that culture;
 People possess the power and responsibility to shape their own lives independent of supernatural authority;
 Ethics and morality should serve human needs, and choices should be based upon consideration of the consequences of actions rather than pre-ordained rules or commandments;
 The Bible, Book of Mormon or other religious texts are purely human and natural phenomena. Biblical and other traditional texts are the products of human activity and are best understood by scientific analysis.
 The Society for Humanistic Mormonism is the first official religious institution of its kind and is organized as a world religion separate from any other Mormon denomination. Seeing that there was no such religion or institution to meet the needs of Humanistic Mormons the Society was founded on Sept. 15, 2010.
 The Society for Humanistic Mormonism is similar to Unitarian Universalism (inasmuch as we accept all religious or non-religious identities/memberships) and The Society for Humanistic Judaism (which sees religion as something more than a belief in the supernatural but a tie to a person's history, culture, and the future of a group of people as its core identity). So it is with The Society for Humanistic Mormonism as it is tied to a culture, a history, and a connection to the Mormon people.
 The Society for Humanistic Mormonism is incorporated as a world religion in the State of Delaware which welcomes both religious and secular Mormons or Ex-Mormon humanists under its tent as well as Mormon or Ex-Mormon transhumanists. All are welcome including other faiths and secular beliefs as the foundation of this Society is built upon religious pluralism and freedom of belief and freedom of disbelief.

 Society for Humanistic Mormonism Wards
 We intend to start Humanistic Mormon congregations across the planet. We will do so by organizing first facebook groups in your local area, people can join the facebook groups and as time goes on we will organize these groups into congregations with local meeting houses. Meanwhile those who join the local facebook groups can meet each other and discuss what Humanistic Mormonism means to them as well as have social activities. The one who creates the group acts on the ground as the local Bishop. This person is responsible to act as a missionary by sharing with local friends, family members, and local members of the general public the message of Humanistic Mormonism as a new religious tradition for the local area they live in; as well as be responsible for calling two counselors to serve with them in the local ward and build up the congregation there. In time with enough local support a Church will be built on the ground in the local area and all the callings of the Church will be filled on the local ward level.

 The International Institute for Humanistic Mormonism (IIHM) was established in 2012 to serve the needs of the growing movement of Humanistic Mormonism. Its three primary purposes are to train leaders, educators, and spokespersons, to commission and publish materials for the movement and to offer public seminars and Colloquia for education and inspiration. The IIHM is the academic and intellectual center for Humanistic Mormonism and The Society for Humanistic Mormonism. The IIHM is under the authority of The Society for Humanistic Mormonism and produces materials for their congregations and communities by providing professional training and general adult education, and ordains humanist Mormon chaplains. Its educational materials are the defining materials for Humanistic Mormonism. The (IIHM) serves as the main accreditation institution for The Society for Humanistic Mormonism's universities/colleges. In addition the (IIHM) serves as the main accreditation system for Humanistic Mormon Bishops as well as provides accreditation and direction for our MA/PhD degrees in Humanistic Mormon Studies.

 The Society for Humanistic Mormonism Answers
 16 Tough Questions about Humanistic Mormonism
 1. What is Humanistic Mormonism?
 Humanistic Mormonism is a branch of Mormonism and is represented by the religious denomination known as the Society for Humanistic Mormonism. It combines attachment to Mormon identity and culture with a human centered approach to life. It defines Mormonism as the historical and cultural experience of the Mormon people. Humanistic Mormonism affirms that people are independent of supernatural authority and responsible for themselves and their behavior.

2. How can you be Mormon if you don’t believe in God?
 Membership in the Mormon people is not a function of belief it is a function of identification, connection, and history.
 3. Why call what you do Mormonism?
 Mormonism is the evolving culture of the Mormon people. There is no single way to be Mormon. What Mormons do is called Mormonism. What Humanistic Mormons do as Mormons is Mormonism. Pluralism in Mormon life enriches Mormonism and enables a more inclusive and enriched Mormon community.
 4. Why are you a separate movement in Mormonism?
 What distinguishes Humanistic Movements from other movements that identify humanistic themes in Mormonism is our resolve to create a consistency between our philosophy and our liturgy (what we believe and what we say and do). Humanistic Mormon celebrations, ceremonies, and commemorations use human-centered non-theistic language. The words we say and the songs we sing follow this guideline. We call this principle integrity and it is fundamental to our identity as Humanistic Mormons.
 5. Is Humanistic Mormonism a religion?
 According to the dictionary a religion is a set of beliefs to which people hold fast. Humanistic Mormonism is a religion using that definition. Humanistic Mormonism falls into the category of a cultural religion, based on history and evolving values guided by science, reason and compassion. Humanistic Mormonism is also a religion in its structure, its congregational model, and school for children, adult education, and provider of life cycle ceremonies all follow the religious model. However unlike traditional religion, here we have freedom of thought and freedom of speech. Whether one believes in God or no God (or whether one takes an agnostic view point), or whether one sees Humanistic Mormonism as their personal secular view point or whether they see Humanistic Mormonism as their personal religious view point: All groups are welcome and can be in good standing as Humanistic Mormons. That is to say Humanistic Mormonism has no creed other than a commitment to reason, science, compassion, free inquiry, freedom of speech, and freedom of thought.
 6. If you are not religious in a traditional sense, why have the offices of a "Bishop," an "Apostle," or a "Prophet," etc.?
 A Humanistic Mormon Bishop is someone who is knowledgeable about Mormon history and ceremony. A Humanistic Mormon Bishop provides pastoral care based on Humanist principles. The Humanistic Mormon Bishop gives information, advice, and consultation about existential questions. Prophets and Apostles are leaders of the Mormon people, they are knowledgeable about Mormon history and ceremony and help lead the Society for Humanistic Mormonism at its highest levels which makes up The First Presidency and The Quorum of the Twelve Apostles for the Society for Humanistic Mormonism. We choose to be part of the Mormon community and calling our leaders with these traditional titles of "Bishop" or "Apostle" or "Prophet," etc., helps us to participate fully in Mormon communal life as other branches of Mormonism have done and are doing. As Humanistic Mormons we wish to take part in that heritage of which we value.

7. Isn’t the Mormon religion (orthodoxy)/Prophets responsible for what Mormonism is?
 No one owns “Mormonism” it belongs to all of humanity and to all types of Mormons and even belongs to Post-Mormons or Ex-Mormons who have a right to say what they think Mormonism should become or what they think Mormonism is. There are many ways of interpreting what Mormonism is, no one way is the right way. It belongs to world culture and world society as well as the many differing types of Mormons to decide what “Mormonism” is. One thing we are sure of Mormonism will continue to evolve. Humanistic Mormonism is just one step in that evolution, it is sure to keep evolving in the future.
 8. Without God how can there be ethics?
 The foundation of ethics is human dignity, human survival, and human happiness. The foundation of ethics is not God. Ethical behavior consists of relationships between people. Some people behave well without believing in God and some people who believe in God do not behave ethically.
 9. If you don’t pray, what do you do and who do you worship?
 We can use poetry and prose to express that connection. We can sing songs and we can meditate. We use materials that encourage reflection and meditation. And some Humanistic Mormons choose to pray. Worship is an ambiguous and loaded word. What does it mean ‘to worship’ as a Humanistic Mormon? If we do pray, we address ourselves in our uncertainty: ‘To Whom It May Concern.’ So whom or what would we worship? Probably many different things. But perhaps with a shared reverence and gratitude. So we still use the word ‘worship’ as an indication of our wonder and awe; and our recognition of the worth of the world around us, the life we share, and the beauty and mystery of being. For that is what piques our curiosity, inspires our imagination, warms our spirits, shapes our character, and contributes to our belonging and becoming. To worship is to celebrate life, in all its peculiarities.
 10. Can someone convert to Humanistic Mormonism?
 We define a Mormon as someone who identifies with the history, culture and fate of the Mormon people. If a person would like to participate in the Mormon experience, they can adopt Mormonism and a Humanistic Mormon community or the Society for Humanistic Mormonism can adopt the person wanting to be part of the Humanistic Mormon family. It’s a mutual experience. Because being Mormon is defined as the historical and cultural experience of the Mormon people an individual does not have to “give up” who they are to add Mormon identity to their self-definition. Thus one can choose to remain a member of another religion and still join Humanistic Mormonism or hold secular, agnostic, or atheist views and still join Humanistic Mormonism. Whether one considers themselves a Post-Mormon, a Liberal Mormon, an Orthodox Mormon, or even an Ex-Mormon, all are welcome in Humanistic Mormonism and perhaps especially Ex-Mormons or Post-Mormons. We mean not to place any limits on how one’s identity as a “Mormon” is defined but nor do we mean to exclude you regardless of where you define yourself. Indeed Humanistic Mormonism is a big tent and we mean to keep it that way so we can all learn and grow together in happiness, peace, love and understanding with our various backgrounds. Expanding what it means to be a “Mormon” allows us to advance one of the core principles of Humanistic Mormonism: freedom of thought and freedom of belief or disbelief. No one will be excommunicated in this Society on the basis of belief or non-belief and all are welcome to take part in the joys of Humanistic Mormonism.
 11. If you are Humanists why bother with Mormonism at all?
 Being Mormon is part of our identity. Indeed this is true of most traditional religions we are typically born into a faith that we had little choice or no choice in being part of. Indeed we were born into a faith and a culture and this becomes part of our identity. For those that converted to Mormonism later in life this also becomes part of our identity. When we added Humanism on to our identity we took up that identity as well. Thus the combination of Mormonism and Humanism as our identities is the natural course and evolution of our Humanistic Mormon identities. We are all curious to know who we are, to discover our roots and establish connections, to learn and to celebrate. Culture adds interest to our lives, whether it be music, literature, art, dance, or food.
 12. Isn’t all Mormonism humanistic?
 Some of Mormonism is humanistic, although not all of it is. The confusion is usually around the differences between humanitarianism and humanism. Humanism is the reliance on people to solve human problems. Humanism includes humanitarianism, which is the act of promoting human welfare and social reform.
 13. While Humanistic Mormonism is compatible with Humanism what are its views on Transhumanism?
 The Society for Humanistic Mormonism endorses the Transhumanist Declaration of Humanity + (http://humanityplus.org/philosophy/transhumanist-declaration/). Indeed we consider Transhumanist philosophy to be the most advanced and progressive form of Humanism that can be expressed. We therefore support and advance both Humanism and Transhumanism philosophy within this Society as the core principles of belief. Of course members are free to either call themselves Humanists or Transhumanists as our tent is big enough and accommodating to both identities.
 14. The Society for Humanistic Mormonism sounds rather accepting as a religion does it like Unitarian Universalism accept other religious/philosophical beliefs along with a Mormon Humanist identity or Mormon background in its membership?
 Humanistic Mormonism accepts Jewish, Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, Christian, natural theist, atheist, agnostic, absurdist, deist, pandeist, pantheist, pagan, transhumanist, Taoist, and other beliefs. Or no particular theological label to their beliefs. Individuals within Humanistic Mormonism must search for themselves as individuals what to believe and this Society will not enforce any theological beliefs or creeds. Thus the traditions and spiritual practices of the Native Americans, Neopaganism, Christianity, Zen Buddhism, Judaism, Islam, Pantheism, Unitarian Universalism, Pandeism, and Deism are all welcome here. Whether the Humanistic Mormon decides the path that is earth-centered, agnostic, theistic, secular humanist, humanist, transhumanist, atheistic, Buddhist, or Christian all are welcome in this Society. Thus Humanistic Mormonism not only accepts any "Mormon" identity we are open to any religious or non-religious identity for 'Mormonism' accepts truth and the search for meaning wherever it may be found among humanity.
 15. What is your position on gay or lesbian marriages or women in leadership positions in the Society?
 The Society for Humanistic Mormonism accepts full marriage equality between LGBTQI couples and does not consider LGBTQI sexual practices to be wrong. Women likewise have full equality in the Society to serve in the highest leadership positions as with the men.
 16. Are there are other Humanist manifestos/documents either religious or secular that the Society for Humanistic Mormonism endorses and if so what are they?
 Yes we have endorsed the following statements and manifestos:

 Mormon Stories Shared Values Statement (2011)
http://mormonstories.org/mormon-stories-shared-values-statement/
 We acknowledge the richness of Mormon heritage, teachings, and community in all of its diversity.
 We believe that one can self-identify as Mormon based on one’s genealogy, upbringing, beliefs, relationships, and other life experiences, regardless of one’s adherence or non-adherence to the teachings or doctrines of any religious organization.
 We seek spaces where we as Mormons can live lives of intellectual and spiritual integrity, individual conscience, and personal dignity.
 We acknowledge and honor different spiritual paths and modes of religious or non-religious truth-seeking. We respect the convictions of those who subscribe to ideas and beliefs that differ from our own.
 We recognize the confusion, distress, emotional trauma, and social ostracism that people on faith journeys often experience. We seek constructive ways of helping and supporting people, regardless of their ultimate decisions regarding church affiliation or activity.
 We affirm the inherent and equal worth of all human beings. We seek spaces where Mormons (and all people) can interact as equals regardless of race, gender, or sexual orientation. In this spirit of egalitarianism, we prefer non-authoritarian and non-hierarchical means of organization and affiliation.

 International Manifesto of the "2045" Strategic Social Initiative (2011) http://2045.com/manifest/28611.html
 We believe that the words of Carl Sagan apply to the Society for Humanistic Mormonism:
 "A religion old or new, that stressed the magnificence of the universe as revealed by modern science, might be able to draw forth reserves of reverence and awe hardly tapped by the conventional faiths. Sooner or later, such a religion will emerge."
 Humanist Manifesto I
 "Today man's larger understanding of the universe, his scientific achievements, and deeper appreciation of brotherhood, have created a situation which requires a new statement of the means and purposes of religion. Such a vital, fearless, and frank religion capable of furnishing adequate social goals and personal satisfactions may appear to many people as a complete break with the past. While this age does owe a vast debt to the traditional religions, it is none the less obvious that any religion that can hope to be a synthesizing and dynamic force for today must be shaped for the needs of this age. To establish such a religion is a major necessity of the present. It is a responsibility which rests upon this generation..."

By waging war against Reason, which they ought to have protected and developed, the ministers of the gods evidently act against their own interest. What power, influence, and respect might they not have gained among the wisest of men, what gratitude would they not have excited in the people, if, instead of wasting their time about their vain disputes, they had applied themselves to really useful s...

Over at Dan Peterson's facebook page (fired FAIR/FARMS etc director) there seems to be a flurry of activity in reaction to some of the church's pronouncements about race. The first is your stock dog whistle racism of the right. The second equates Obama with Nazi Euthanasia. Not being Mormon and only recently a resident of this state I am amazed that a religious leader and professor at an institution of higher learning could post this crap. I am also surprised that others in Utah aren't upset. The reaction I am getting is Meh..get over it or this is Utah. So racist or not racist? Think angry Dan is angry about changes coming from the church?

Meanwhile prayer continues not to work this was the single link for which someone found offense, I suggested that we should be focusing on a scientific cure, not praying, for that is the most compassionate and rational thing to do, for merely suggesting that I am now called a "miliant atheist" : http://ffrf.org/about/getting-acquainted/item/12869-biggest-study-prayer-harmful-to-patients

 A Humanistic Mormon is someone who identifies with the history, culture, and future of the Mormon people;
 Mormonism is the historic culture of the Mormon people, and religion is only one part of that culture;
 People possess the power and responsibility to shape their own lives independent of supernatural authority;
 Ethics and morality should serve human needs, and choices should be based upon consideration of the consequences of actions rather than pre-ordained rules or commandments;
 Our website can be found here with more information:

For a current list of Humanistic Mormon Wards please visit our Humanistic Mormon Ward webpage: http://societyforhumanistic.wix.com/sfhm#!humanisticmormongroups/c1xu8
 If you would like to start a local ward please email us: societyforhumanisticmormonism@gmail.com and we will create a Facebook Group for you.

Maybe compassion is the elixir of life. Perhaps the reason we've never found the mythical philosopher's stone is because we've always searched for something outside of ourselves. Compassion is an inside job.
