Mentions of LGBT issues on news and talk shows

Wanda Sykes on the talk show " Katie" mentioned how absurd it was how homophobes state that same-sex couples getting married will " threaten" the marriage of heterosexuals. Katie thought it was equally absurd.  Chevy Chase and his Boy Scouts group mentioned something about how LGBT are treated as " not being good enough" because of who they are.  Same-sex couples legally marrying does not " threaten" the marriage of heterosexuals anymore than colored couples marrying each other or interracial couples marrying each other threatens the marriages of white or single-raced couples. LGBT people are good enough simply for being who they are. How is it that in 2014, we still see such ignorance in today's world? Hate and bigotry never seems to change with the passing of the older centuries.

Is it any wonder that young people are abandoning organized religion in droves. No one wants to belong to a hateful system founded on hate , bigotry and having to put trust into beliefs that have no convincing evidence to prove their " validity". Organized religion is responsible for much of the homophobic, transphobic, biphobic and anti-sexual attitudes that we see so much. Americans seem to have a passion for violence and a deep hatred over sexuality and sexual expression. It's disgusting that most Americans would rather see violence being wrought upon a gay person than allow that gay person to marry their same-sex partner who they have been in a romantically and sexually-active relationship with for 28 years. Thank goodness, the younger generations are becoming more open-minded and stand up for the civil rights of oppressed minorities who are being wrongfully mistreated for simply being who themselves. America, it's time to grow up and realize that giving rights to minorities doesn't affect you. How would you feel and what would you do if you were in their position?
