I served a mission for the church (well a sister's mission really lol 1.5 years), but was excommunicated by the Mission President and sent home. I have been excommunicated for over ten years. I have a very broad theology which is inclusive of all sorts of spiritual knowledge incorporating indigenous, Maori (Native New Zealander), LDS, and Anglican (Episcopal) perspectives. I am so happy to find others who think broadly as well and seek further light and knowledge.

What went on here went against your human dignity and just basic human rights. This is one of the reasons why the LDS Church's policy against those that do not fit in to a cookie cutter Mormon life style should end. It goes against compassion and human kindness, not to mention reason.

Alan Hunter I agree, for the most part, with Maher's statements about religion, but I think he is quite wrong about faith.
For example I have faith that humanity can find a way to live in peace and love, but the turning of Jesus' teachings into a religion based upon worshiping a fantasy birth and resurection is not the way to achieve it.
