Yeah, yeah, we've heard it all before. Go home and feed the hungry and take care of the sick as you were instructed to do by the leader whose name your church bears. And do try to love one another as he did.

B) So when SCOTUS rules in our favor, g liked us all along...and I'm sure this guy will come to the same conclusion and apologize to us, like the true xn gentleman he is.

The concerntipated Women put speakers right next to ours.Every time they would announce a new hater their resident banshee made it a point to yell out and spew her brew through the mic to the point of hearing damage. All with the intention of deliberately drowning our side out.
I would upload picture but I burned through my batteries and it died while I was copying files, so hopefully they are there. I'll try again later tonight when the batteries are charged up.

There were a very few number of haters (I was down there), but they were certainly vocal. At one point I thought someone was being attacked, but it was just someone from the Concerned Women (I think) literally screeching at the top of her lungs to drown out the pro-marriage arguments. Sickening.

"You are not seeking to join the institution. You are seeking to change the institution." Yes. We are seeking to change the world. We are seeking to make a world where people are respected for who they are.

It's so sad to me that the justices are more interested in preserving a specific view of an arbitrary, human-created "institution", rather than changing the LEGAL PART OF IT to apply equally AS THE 14TH AMENDMENT DEMANDS.
Fucking sickening. I'm so angry right now.

At the start of Tuesday’s arguments, Chief Justice Roberts said he had looked up definitions of marriage and had been unable to find one written before a dozen years ago that did not define it as between a man and a woman.
It's a shame that he didn't check the Bible:
Jacob and his 4 women, David and his convenient widows, Solomon and his harem of 1000.

American Supreme Court Justices: Look at your neighbour to the North, Canada. Our entire country has had same-sex marriage for years and we're thriving more than ever. Things are going great! Now get your well-paid butts going and allow same-sex marriage for ALL of the U.S.A. In case you haven't noticed, it's an idea whose time has come.

NYT: Supreme Court Seems Deeply Divided

The New York Times weighs in:
The justices appeared to clash over not only what is the right answer in the case but also over how to reach it. The questioning illuminated their conflicting views on history, tradition, biology, constitutional interpretation, the democratic process and the role of the courts in prodding social change. Justice Kennedy said he was concerned about changing a conception of marriage that has persisted for so many years. Later, though, he expressed qualms about excluding gay families from what he called a noble and sacred institution. Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. worried about shutting down a fast-moving societal debate.
Justice Samuel A. Alito Jr. asked whether groups of four people must be allowed to marry, while Justice Antonin Scalia said a ruling for same-sex marriage might require some members of the clergy to perform ceremonies that violate their religious teaching. Justice Stephen G. Breyer described marriage as a fundamental liberty. And Justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Elena Kagan said that allowing same-sex marriage would do no harm to the marriages of opposite-sex couples.
At the start of Tuesday’s arguments, Chief Justice Roberts said he had looked up definitions of marriage and had been unable to find one written before a dozen years ago that did not define it as between a man and a woman. “If you succeed, that definition will not be operable,” the Chief Justice said. “You are not seeking to join the institution. You are seeking to change the institution.”

I love the hysteria hissy fit the Christian right is having right now. They are scared shitless that the Supreme Court is going to make gay marriage legal in all 50 States. I sure as hell hope the SC votes in our favor because I want to enjoy watching the tears of grief and outrage by the fundies. I want to see their pathetic attempts at civil disobedience and their silly protest marches that will be attending by maybe a couple dozen people. I want to hear them wail and whine. It will be GLORIOUS!

Only if Christians break the law, Janet, will they go to jail and even then it's unlikely any of them will, in fact, go to jail unless they are really badly behaved. In those cases, they will be treated just like any other criminal.
Marriage equality itself will not result in anybody going to jail. Illegal behavior, however, will.

Honey, the only reason that would ever happen is because you folks are unwilling to behave yourselves and obey the law like decent Americans who understand the unique differences in people, and make necessary accommodations accordingly. It's pretty damn simple, stop making it too complicated. You're only harming yourselves with your unloving, mean spirited attitudes, contempt for the law and misplaced hatred for innocent people's lives. Get some therapy and some rest, you look all stressed out!

Not jail honey. It's an institution for the derange. Don't you worry, Nurse Ratched will take very good care of you.

I'm going to start selling crucifix toothbrushes. They will have bristles on the reverse side from Jesus' head. That way you can wave your crucifix at the anti-human rights protest and have a toothbrush for when Big Gay sends you to prison.
