@C.L.A.W.S. The title was Growing Pains, and Cameron was cute as a button. I don't think I missed an episode. He played a character that is 180-degrees away from the guy he is now that he's having a midlife crisis and remembers the night he took some K and cocaine and fucked his brains out with one of the show's groupies, one of many. He is now feeling guilty about those years and has found Jesus. What a shame. Gay men tell me he is bisexual but in denial. Christianity will do that to a person.That's why Ted Turner called it "a religion for losers."

He played the son in an Alan Thicke tv show a few decades ago, but the show's title escapes me. He was thought to be a cute kid, (according to other opinions) but he couldn't act as far as I remember. Grew up to be a pukey adult.

OR....maybe it's a case of "methinks the [person] doth protest too much."
When someone starts yammering about "sin" to me, I ask them to define the word.  Most xians can't.  They just stammer.

Kirk Cameron - "God Hates Fags!"

The youtube video was taken down by "Living Waters Productions".  I watched it earlier today.  Maybe a transcript will show up.  Cameron stated that Christians need to tell gay people that they are sinning and headed to hell, and that god hates gay people, then added "God hates fags and they are going to hell".

I imagine they took down the video because of the backlash.  All I can say is, I did watch it earlier, and the quote is accurate.

Kirk Cameron is rapidly heading down the path to a first class slimeball homophobe.  In fact, he's already there.  It's probably a way to make a better living than he could make as a has-been former child actor.

I went to the Living Waters Production webside - the first popup was a movie ad for their upcoming movie about homosexuality...  interesting timing there.

CLAWS - you are right, teens can and do tell lies, sometimes big, dangerous lies.  The legal issue is, in the eyes of the law it doesn't matter if the teen lied, pursued the adult, and initiated the situation.  In the law, the adult is fully responsible.  It may well be like the story of Lolita, fictional, who ruined lives.  I guess if Bean had "carded" the 15 year old, he could have avoided this situation.  I don't know that anyone cards the people who they get involved with.

Bean's fall sounds like a Greek tragedy.  Led down the path to destruction by his gullibility and infatuation with a beautiful lover - the 20 something meth addict / criminal who he fell for and who attacked him, extorted, and was involved in the situation with the 15 year old.

Isn't it true that teens can lie like sidewalks? I remember lots of kids saying they were 18 when they plainly weren't, & lots of others who did look of age.
If some bleeding hearts didn't make such a huge deal out of sex, & mind their own p's & q's, maybe it wouldn't be so stretched out of proportion by the media.

Sk8eycat, I like the analogy to toaster ovens and electric lawn mowers. When you stop to think that 90% of the great scientific discoveries have come in the last 100 years, it is amazing anyone on earth puts faith in a 4-5,000 year old book riddled with superstition and hallucinatory fantasies.

James, I have read and heard that homosexuality is "unnatural" or "against nature" more times than I can count.  And I want to scream.
REAL naturalists have recorded "homosexual behavior" in the wild for decades....it's a FACT, like evolution, and the real age of the universe(s).....I just want to beat that into the pea-brains that the customs of their one bigoted little tribe are not laws of nature.
BUT....the Michigan legislature has gone bonkers....

sk8eycat, you don't carry that thought quite far enough. The problem with homophobes is that they equate "natural" with "normal" or even "ideal." If something can be done, it is natural by definition. So it really makes no difference if one "is" lgbtq because of genetic predisposition or choice, the latter being the cherished notion of a group of people who decry "choice" in the decisions of both men and women, including straight women. If the bigots were to accept the notion that one is born lgbtq, then what would their God look like: a capricious, arbitrary, frivolous deity whose name I only know as Chance.

1967.  This was an attempt at rational, nonjudgemental journalism about, mostly gay men.  It's painful to watch.  Soccarides spread his bigotry, under the guise of psychiatry, to those who should have been supportive.  He was not just misinformed, he was a bigot.  The Freudian myths of overbearing mother, weak father, harmed both the gay person and passed blame to their innocent parents.  That was a time of profound persecution, bigotry, punishment, misinformation....  there is still plenty of that now, but we have come so, so far.  People love to speculate and expound on things they have no knowledge about.  Thanks to free thinking, courageous, strong, thoughtful, interested, caring people the changes have been profound.  Those pioneers include  LGBT people as well as those who have been supportive.


Persecute, discriminate, demonize people - and then blame them for not fitting in. How perverse society was, and in many places continues to be.

A new study shows that homosexuality is natural and debunks criticism that claims it is not.
I have been saying for decades that if wild animals that mate for life can have same-sex partners, it HAS to be natural.  Of course, if homosexuality and evolution are mentioned in the same paragraph, the fundies are going to go apeshit....well, they will, anyway.
