Judge Mathis cases

Dear Readers,

Today when watching Judge Mathis, one lady sued another woman whose beauty pageant she was featured in after the pageant owner called her names, including transphobic names, basically calling her a "transvestite" and even Photo Shopping a slanderous picture of her. The pageant owner turned out to be a big liar, not surprising. Another case had a man who was arrested in church on Easter Sunday after violating what I'm guessing was a restraining order. His wife was in the process of leaving him. She and a friend who was a member of their church were both helping another fellow church member move and her husband showed up and started acting all crazy and his wife's friends had to get into physical altercations with him.  The husband's friend watched the man get beat up, didn't help because the men who were defended themselves were trying to control their aggression.
The husband lost his case. Not surprising.  He was homeless for a while and went to retrieve food stamps. I feel sorry for him but I don't condone his actions. Courtrooms are just drama act after drama act, aren't they? Another case dealt with a man who cheated on his wife with his best friend's wife and his in-laws sued him for damaging their garage wall when pulling out of their driveway. The cheating husband's children went to live with his ex-wife because of allegations child abuse and taking his kids around a known pedophiles house. Judge Mathis made a comment that he didn't believe the mother-in-law would lie because he asked her if she was a churchgoing woman. She said yes and said if Mathis were to ask her pastor about her that he would say she is a good person.

Isn't it inappropriate to ask people in a secular court of law, if they go to church or what religion they are associated with? Mathis seems like a very good guy, but his religious remarks just don't seem appropriate. If an atheist were to make negative remarks or make criticisms regarding organized religion on the air, you know people would demand that the show be cancelled.    Think about it.

Sincerely,

B.W.
